The policy was introduced six weeks ago after the current administration found that an increasing number of illegal migrants were using their children to avoid arrest while attempting to enter the country. The experience of migrants coming over the border from Mexico to the US has been documented for the past decade by the award- winning Getty photographer, John Moore.

I hate it but they have to be housed. Yes they're detained but only until they can be deported in an orderly fashion. spliffsperlunk i used to be a hippy nomadic homeless by choice for about 5 ish years i saw 29 states god knows how many towns and cities but i mean honestly when your homeless you pretty much get taken care of or i did i was fed well by people whom id had to ask to feed me back then to get my mind off of it id go see a movie or get a 12. $ massage one a week so i difnt hurt id find breath taking out of the way places where nobody would bother me to sleep cayse when your honeless you dint get a full nights sleep unless u r out of sight and quiet and light music is ok not too loud but i used to find the most georous places to wake up woth a beautiful scenery i haso had my mt dews all day if i just asked someone and there r weird druggie homeless that dont try to do anything about theyre life and there r those who travel trying to find they're purpose that was me now im a mommy that has been on ssi since i was 12 and trying to find the right job for me that i know i can keep so i can get off of low income somday soon

Why are they not concerned about children separated from their parents because they are in prison or separated because they are in the Military?
Because the military is optional, and it only take adults. And prison is only for those who break laws.
My heart and prayers goes out for the children and parents that has to go through this separation SMH we are all Americans (North, Central, and South) but all Americans. I wish we could help them better than what where doing now.
My grandparents were detained and quarantined for 90 days when they came here 100 years ago legally. Checked for diseases
They were just trying to get their kids a better life. My mom and my dad were both raised in Mexico and I go there every year to visit our family I wouldn’t want to live there. a lot of those kids don’t even have that much money they use the same school supplies over and over and over again year after year after year. Imagine the atrocities that would happen to those children by the sick adult individuals seeking a victim, if they were kept with them. I live in a part of the country where immigrants (Mexicans) come every single year to pick the fruit harvest. The sickening stories of the rape that happens in the orchards amongst them, and then the arrests made of those adults towards children, is disgusting. As far as I see it, these children are safer being where they are.

S Cler the UK mainstream media with the exception of some articles in the telegraph or daily mail has paid no attention to the issues regarding the epidemic separation of British children from their parents and extended families. Most of these immigrant children are not even with their parents, they are often unaccompanied or they come in with traffickers much of the time who I bet are often Mexican cartel members who kidnapped these children from their parents. Trump needs to hurry up and build that wall. It would actually protect many of these children as it would remove the incentive for traffickers.

All of the sound and fury is completely hypocritical. The majority of the politicians and activists who are yelling now were silent for more than 10 years while previous administrations ignored or sporadically enforced the laws that require detention, separation of children from adults who may not be their parents and determination of whether the children are really with a parent or they have been rented by strangers or they are with other relatives. These people had plenty of opportunities to change or repeal those laws. The Obama Administration ignored laws that he didn't like even though it was completely against the law for him to do so and he could have been impeached for failure to enforce and uphold the laws of the land. All of the photographs of the chain link cages are from the Obama era and Trump had nothing to do with them. He is just doing his job as it is outlined in the Constitution and for this the Democrats, who put people on cages, are mad. How about the Democrats in Congress doing THEIR JOB and making the laws better.

Judges have this thing called discretionary ruling. Would you say that laws are not being enforced if people don't suffer the maximum penalty for the laws they break, get a conditional discharge for first offense, or even if certain charges were dropped when entered in a plea agreement?
The difference is that Trumps 'Zero-Tolerance" immigration policy has never been never been implemented by any other president in history. He is federally charging everyone. Obama deported more illegals than anyone, he just used discretion, typically not charging them federally for their first offense, or mothers with children. Obama didn't charge them specifically just so they would not be separated. If you don't federally charge them you can just deport them.
And what's the point? Waste tens of thousands of dollars per inmate housing them for months, clogging up the courts, paying for lawyers and judges, putting them in prison, just to deport them eventually anyway? Smart!
