As a child I loved to eat Cadbury's Chocolate Buttons. I used to put one on my tongue, close my mouth, and just let it sit there, slowly melting, until I could stand it no longer and just enjoy that wonderful taste as it 'exploded' in my mouth. Since Cadbury's was taken over by an American company, they have changed the ingredients Cadbury's chocolate was originally made from and it now longer melts in the same way. I haven't eaten Cadbury's for quite some considerable time, as I found that the chocolate is no longer enjoyable. That melt on your tongue method of enjoying a few chocolate buttons no longer works in the same way. Now - the chocolate button doesn't 'melt', but it sits there, in it's original shape, and turns into a sort of jellified blob of something nasty. Cadbury's is completely off the shopping list for good, for me. It's now horrible stuff.

Cadbury has gone downhill over the last 10 years with lots of the chocolates now made in Poland. The worst effect if the purchase by Kraft was the loss of the Cadbury family principles. The company used to take extraordinary care of its employees even outside their working life. It was the best company I ever worked for with true employee care as a high priority. Within months of the takeover, that was all lost.

I grew up in South Africa on Cadburys milk chocolate which I thought was the best tasting chocolate on the planet... then I immigrated to the USA and tried Hersheys chocolate.... the worst tasting chocolate on the planet... I managed to find an outlet for Cadburys and for a few years was in 7th Heaven... then, HERSHEY CHOCOLATE bought out Cadburys and changed the recipe to Hersheys..... I now only eat Swiss chocolate which was always second best to Cadburys but now tops Cadbury and Hersheys which now no longer signifies in my life... Shame on you Hershey...

Cadbury lost its taste ever since Kraft took over. No taste of cocoa in it. Not the Cadbury I know when I worked for Cadbury Schweppes Head Office near marble arch and Bayswater back in 1978, we would get samples to taste every time a new flavour was out. Those were the best days when everything had quality. My husband said the palm oil in the chocolate made him sick with stomach ache, so he stopped eating it.

My husband has given me a TIN of Quality STREET every Christmas for the last 54yrs (didn't give me one first Christmas we were married) it was the first present I opened Christmas morning and we'd each have one. Mine green triangle, husband purple one, daughter gold stick, son anyone of them. I remember taking the lid off to see all the sparkling colours so christmasy, but last year floppy cardboard one and when I opened it very dull wrappers with an odd sparkly one (last of the old wrappers I guess) but even the size and taste were very underwhelming. So much so this year I told him not to get one. Oh yes and add insult to injury there were no purple ones not even a single solitary one. People are going mad because they have lost the royal warranty after 150yrs well that was earned in the first place by hard work and people think they have the right to just sail along using it on someone else's hard work. They have thrown themselves under the bus with thier lack of respect for that warranty it's not given for life ever after it means something a standard and Cadbury no longer meet the standards needed to hold that warranty it's up to thier wok friends to help them now. You can't serve two gods they chose the wrong one. Original owners of Cadbury are absolutely spinning in thier graves.😢😢😢

Hi Neil, admittedly, I'm a Galaxy girl, always have been, but my family liked Cadbury's so that's what I ate unless my Nan was staying.
When Cadbury's was bought by the American company that makes I believe, Hershey bars, they promised they wouldn't move the factory from the UK or change the recipe or taste. But they did. The aftertaste is, I'm sorry, like sick. I don't know what they are using or what they've done, but you can't keep the warrant if you change the thing the warrant was granted for, they knew that. Oh well.
I didn't know that about Mr Al-Fayed, that's hilarious! Was he in his suit? I'm crying with laughter here. You should get a royal warrant for your ties. ❤
