He was this wonderful British institution that was always there throughout my life. By now he'd become the most eminent and senior broadcaster in the UK. Very moving at the end to see his obviously genuine regard for the crew. Best wishes for his retirement!

Coming to the UK from Syria, I knew very little then about British journalism. This is until John Snow remarkably immersed my curious appetite for understanding the world around me in a sea of knowledge. He stretched this understanding in an unbiased, fair, courageous, intelligent and charming style of reporting. This rich and diverse style made him exceptionally accessible. His journalism is world class.

Simply beautiful. From across the pond, I tip my hat to a wonderful broadcaster. The UK has been fortunate to have such a dignified and honorable journalist to rely on for so many years. For all those "hungry to learn about the world" Mr Snow's presence will be sorely missed. Cheers to such an important career he had!

Jon Snow WAS Channel 4 news, so this is truly the end of an era. He's been doing it since the year i was born, so i grew up watching him and his ties and this feels like saying goodbye to an old friend. That last minute was very emotional, and lovely tribute to play out the extended C4 News theme in his honour (also poignant given Alan Hawkshaw who composed that theme only passed away a couple of months ago)

Jon's departure will be keenly felt. I shall miss his humanity, measured delivery and charm, as well as the insight he brought to news reporting. His integrity was always in evidence, along with his fabulous socks and ties. What a beautiful tribute to his work in broadcasting; I was in tears by the end.
