In Texas Hold'em, skill, probability calculation and a pinch of luck are essential to becoming a true master of the game. The objective is simple: accumulate chips by betting on strategically chosen card hands.
A hand in Texas Hold'em consists of five cards, two of which are dealt face-up by each player and five cards are dealt face-up in the center of the table, shared by everyone. The strongest combination wins the pot at the end of the game. But what are these combinations?
We start with the royal straight, the most powerful, followed by the straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair and, finally, the highest card.
Let's take a peek at how a round of Texas Hold'em works. Players start with two hole cards, and the round unfolds with bets after the revelation of three community cards (the flop), followed by two more cards (the turn and river), with bets between each phase.
Table position is crucial, and betting starts with the small blind and the big blind. Each player decides whether to stay in the game or give up, based on the initial cards. The bets increase as the cards are revealed on the table.
And, of course, we arrive at the long-awaited showdown! Players reveal their cards, and the best combination wins the pot.
