2008 to about mid 2013 is peak UFC. Before the Rousey/McGregor Era came and made the sport feel all corporate and attracted casuals that want unwanted or unnecessary drama just to make a fight feel important This era still had an underground fight club type of vibe and you had badasses like Rampage, Cain, Brock, Silva, GSP, Aldo, JDS, Shogun, Hendo etc. Those guys meant business and there was little to no trash talk because it wasn’t needed. If you were the best you would prove it in the octagon. I miss that era so much
If you started watch UFC becouse of Connor, you are not a casual at all. I started watch on Anderson Silva era, Silva on that time here on Brasil was like 2016 Mcgregor
I've been watching since 2006 at age 15. I would say the biggest change to the UFC as an organization has been the increased depth of the divisions. Fighters at the top are obviously getting better, but I would say a lot of ranked guys welterweight and up in 2012 would still be ranked in today's UFC (probably not far back as 2010 though).
for real, I remember pre-covid era hopping on the TV as a child and watching ferguson vs cerrone with my mom as one of my first glimpses at mma lol. shit really became mainstream there
Male 38. No social media. Just texting messaging no what app etc. i was 24 living with my mates in a heavy metal band. We just used to get stoned together play ufc undisputed and listen to heavy metal. 2007ish. Watching people get knocked out to metal was great. Pride was great. No social media rubbish you Just liked the fighter you liked for whatever reason and that was that. Happiest days of my life hands down.
Silva, Aldo and ol boi that lost the belt to dillashaw was a good era too. I can’t think of his name but he was the champ for a minute and had a huge fall from grace
for me it was 3 different eras 1. Early UFC Era : 90s-2007. it was just like a underground fighting club. the legendary Pride FC was also in this time period 2. 2008-2013 era. this is the peak UFC with most legendary fighters in their primes or best days 3. and 2014-2018 era a.k.a Conor-Ronda-Jones era. this is when UFC became a massive worldwide hit I dont really like 2019-present (post-pandemic era)
Wanderlei wasnt a star in the ufc when you said he was. He was in Pride during that time destroying everyone. He had one fight in the ufc during the time you said and he got demolished by TRTitor Belfort and left
I don’t know what this other guy is talking about with DC because he only fought there 9 times, fought 7 guys, lost to one twice and almost lost to another
DC fought Jon, Gus, Rumble, old Silva, Cummins (the only hyper there was the beef), Hendo, and Oezdemir 4 of those guys were top 15/20 all time in LHW and he lost to one twice, had a close fight (even losing to his style) to another one, fought one way out of their prime, and beat the other twice. Point is that saying DC destroyed the division compared to Jones is disingenuous because he 4 good fighter then (only 3 being some of the best at the time) with 3 great wins (Rumble twice and Gus)
I’d say the golden era had to be when Chuck was champ to when Anderson Silva lost to Weidman. You had legendary champs from the UFC, Pride, WEC, and Strickforce eventually all merged into the UFC. We will probably never see anything like it ever again.

Great video. Never get tired of watching your vids
2008-2013 that era created/established some of the all time greats, and had some the bloodiest wars we ever saw.
Honestly Conor got me into the UFC. Call me a casual but I know for a fact he got a lot of people into to and his fights were must watch

3:08 Rampage actually made his UFC debut in 2007 (Hardcore era) against Marvin Eastman.

The Pre Jones era was awesome when the LHW belt was turning over constantly.
It’s called, “The Machida Era.” Best time to be alive 💯
