He couldn't protect her at the start when he was a good man and he couldn't protect her as a bad guy...then he got another chance with the Chamblers and he lost everything all over again he is such a tragic character.
He was a good man who lost his daughter and the guilt of not adapting and killing to protect her made him change he became paranoid and killed anyone who thought was a threat to his utopia, also he thought Penny was still in there so when michonne killed her he thought they killed all of of Penny so he lost control.
This is absolutely stunning! I loved your story-telling and the little parallels you used! Flawless editing as well! And I loved that you made it Phillip/Governor/ Brian centric, even though I hate him with a passion ;) I was ruined after this episode. I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually need the mid-season break to heal my emotional wounds. Fictional characters, I know, but that little detail doesn't keep me from getting ridiculously upset. Why do we do this to ourselves?
I love this video a lot. The Governor is such an interesting Character who has an emotional side underneath the bad guy side. I look forward to seeing more from you in the future my friend!
Its sad a good man with just 2 things he cared about in his life taken away from him and he had to adjust to the apocalypse then his hope of saving penny was gone, he lost control but the good man in him didnt go, the saddest part is when he says good bye to meghan it seems he was telling her that phillip is now leaving and he was ready to let the governor takeover.
Although he killed many of my favourite characters: Merle, Milton, Andrea, and Axel, I really liked The Governor. He was so interesting and such a tragic villain, but when he killed one of my big favourites, Hershel, that made me glad they killed The Governor off.
I'm pretty sure you're right, but Phillip adopts the name Brian after his brother Brian dies (this happens in Kirkman's novel). In the comics he also goes by Brian. So it depends what version of the Governor you wanna talk about.
In the novels/comics, it is Brian Blake who adopts the name and the persona of his younger brother Phillip. The show version of the Governor actually resembles Brian's younger brother Phillip from the novel.

Credit to David Morrissey. He made what could have been a ridiculous cartoon villain and made him a real person.
Damn you, I'm crying over here!!! I just want to say that the parallels you used were FLAWLESS!!! FAVORITED!!!

He tried to redeem himself but he couldnt escape taking leadership again.

It's Philip Blake, Not brian
