Nice meeting you and the boys in person. Thank You for making my trip to LA memorable an not just a boring business trip. Thanks again for everything Matt, was truly a pleasure meeting you !
Ripping on the new guy never gets old! Rite of passage - and he just took it. Good boy.
Nice upgrades, particularly smart with the rear shock. The increased height will also quicken the steering. Great job Nick.
This is a great build... I’m so excited to see this next generation of young builders and riders bring something fresh to the game with THIER insights and fresh perspectives. I sense a new dawn... one devoid of leather and posturing but filled with denim ‘n t-shirts, and it feels good!
These new softails have grown on me. This thing is sick. I think I'm sold on one.
The thing I love about these videos and this one, in particular, is the realization of the vision. What I mean by that is when I look at a stock softail and try to imagine what I would do to it I cant.. not really. I know my taste, of course, we all have different likes and dislikes and while I wouldn't do exactly the same I am able to actually see what can be done. The best part about it is the presentation of the reasons why someone goes in a particular direction. These expose's are really well done and very much appreciated.
QU13TM4N thanks for the comment. That helps me to know what focus and talking points to include in this type of video.
Sweet ride Nick! Probably the best looking Softail I've seen so far. The new Low Rider is the only model of the new Softail line I have really liked the look of, and this just made me like it even more. The changes you made really made a difference in the bikes aesthetics.
I've been in love with this model. I need this bike too! I'm loving almost all these upgrades!
Dude, I don't even want the lowrider anymore unless it's just like this badboy right here wow!🔥💣👀
This should be a stock bike! This is what my generation loves. I just bought a Low Rider s this weekend 🤘😎
Dude's got good taste! Super-awesome bike and well presented and articulated.
Looks way cooler with all the mods. As many people have already commented, it would be great if Harley had a Low Rider that was more blacked out and less chromed out. But I couldn't afford it either way so I guess it doesn't really matter.
dude the tbr exhaust sounds awweesoomme, better than all other systems
The new low rider s finally came out and this bike still looks better great build .
I 've notice the production value in your videos are getting much better
wimquill one thanks. I’m always trying to get better.
wimquill one Agreed; I noticed the music stop when stuck in LA traffic: Nice touch!
good example.....
Yes H-D needs to make a blacked out low rider again
They sure do!
The lack of dual front disk brakes though... love it otherwise. Wicked 114 build.
How can I add 100 more likes to your comment?
New low rider S please, duel disk and blacked out
The only way I EVER THINK about trading my iron 12 is if they bring out another blacked out low rider s again
Man, missed it by one week! Congrats Nick, well deserved for sure.
Love seeing this stuff. ...the explanation, ...why the changes, and to see the changes done. Great video.
Great bike Nick! Maybe Harley is watching and can do the same for 2019! Congrats on the beautiful bike.
This comment aged well in 2023 🦅
Nick, congrats on landing a job at Laidlaw’s and on one “Bad Motorscooter.”
Just bought a blue 2018 FXLR Tuesday and over the winter I’m wanting to Black it out like this one. Bad ass bike enjoy her.
When I'm ready I plan on visiting your dealership for a new ride. I like how your shop thinks outside the box. I used to work for SDHD and the always thought out of the box. Glad you are making people see that these are really bad ass 🤘🏼
Thanks brother. Hit me up when you’re ready to pull the trigger.
Man! So glad they came out with 2020 low rider S. Got my 20 fxlr s for two days now and can’t be more happier! I’m pretty sure they copied your build, should charge HD for copyright. Lol
ANOTHER GREAT BUILD from Laidlaw! You guys put so much style to your builds and I really dig the aesthics PLUS performance that the builds seem to emphasize! I really like to hear the builds from guys that come from different riding platforms too, establisheds validity that HD can still satisfy performance needs.
Great! Murdered Out theme with accents of silver, this one rocks! 💪😉⚡Flipping the mirrors would clean up the visual line on the top of the bars. Other than that, SOLID BUILD! I really like how Laidlaw is introducing Young Blood into the old HD community 👊
Turned out great! Much better with black powder coating 😎🇺🇸
CJ agreed.
Yeah chrome are for old foggies, anyway. I cannot stand chrome.
Absolutely hated the new bikes. After this video, I saw what you can do. And I have to say, I'm in love.
Savage Cabbage the new bikes are bad ass man. The new frame is legit.
Hate really? It's really a strong word.
Why should you have to invest all that money though... the bike by itself is way over priced...
Are the upgrades for the mono shock? Can covert it back to dual rear shocks?
If this is how the new FXLR came from the factory, it would change my opinion on buying one of the new Softail models instead of buying used and sticking with the Dyna models.
You’re in luck. Look up the 2020 Low Rider S.
Matt tell nick that’s Lobo said Congratulations!! Came out really good all Blacked out and it looks sweet good taste!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Ride Safe & Enjoy..
Wow! This has been (for me) the best argument to recommend the new platform. From FXR to new Softail, skipping Dyna... I own two FXR's '85 & '86, so, this video is very enlightening to me. I already tried the 114 2018 Fatbob, and I loved it (minus the forward controls). This could be the new bike to own. I still want a Dyna, though...
Very nice build! Rather have this then the new 2020 lowrider s as nick mentions in another video. This bike is custom and badass.
Tasteful build. Really well presented video. He speaks really well unlike all of these other blokes who crap on and love the sound of their own voice on reviews. Awesome job mate!
Thanks on behalf of Nick.
Thanks man!
Nice build. I cant wait until I'm able to get my bike. I love your videos because they give me alot of great ideas for what I wanna do. Keep them coming.
Beautiful bike. I have the red 2018 lowrider. Custom fit it with forward footboard controls cause I’m tall. I’m curious on how much higher the heritage shock raised the bike and did you have to also raise the front?
I see some very nice bikes coming out of your shop, these new softails sure are a good platform for customizing,I'm hungry now, I can't wait to see some more, this is getting me thinking about my next ride.
Bars and fairing are spot on Nick, "T" bars and those fugly fairings that go with them are the worst look to come along for Harleys in a long time.
Nick congrats on the new job and the new bike. Thanks again.
Damn! Your employees must get paid really well to afford that bike and do all those upgrades. Well done! Extremely cool bike.
Maybe they get some kind of discount?
The bank owns his bike for the next 15 years.
Thats a 25k machine. You know the back Owns that
I think this might be nicest Harley I have ever seen . Upgrading from my iron torn between lowerider and street bob seems like you get more with low rider. Still haven’t decided if Ima keep the sporty
I went from a sporty to low rider and dont reget it, I sat on sportys softball slums and streetbobs before I settled on the low rider. The Bob was great looking but felt uncomfortable and lacked tank bite for my knees. I felt way more balanced on the low rider.
Bike is super awesome. You made all perfect choices. So close to what I'd do. I'm so happy someone did a build on the new Low Rider, it's a cool bike in its own right, even if it's not a Dyna.
If I were going to finish it out, I'd also get rid of the stock seat (too fat and ugly like a couch), put in some custom dynamics LEDs (easy), and consider an inverted front end.
Thanks for the video, as always.
Nice bike, I like the way you presented this vlog; it was very well done. You must pay your people well, they own Harleys. Ford had a lot of employees who also bought their company’s cars.
I enjoyed all the detail about the upgraded parts and performance work.
You finished it off with a nice cruise around you town. I was reminded of those days in the 1970’s whenHollywood was producing all those
biker movies.
I bought me a 2018 Fat Boy, white, in February 2018.
Thank you. I always appreciate the compliments. Enjoy the Fatboy. The 2018 Softails are Great bikes.
I think having an employee purchase a bike, a Harley, from where they work is a great thing.....it shows the employee loves his bike, is earning enough income to buy it, and takes pride in his work.
This is all around great for employee morale, makes the customers more happy and says a lot for the product.
Joe Hanlon I agree !
It is so fun to watch a dealership embrace personalizes bikes the way LaidLaw Harley does ....
I was shocked to see Non harley bikes in the employee parking area at the plant in york, pa. I think if you ride and work for harley, its sacrilege to ride anything else. that lowrider is nice. i got the street bob and it puts a smile on my face every time i ride it. nice video matt
Another great build from Laidlaw!
Looks a lot sportier without those tiller handlebars. I found the most interesting part was changing the shock to the longer one. I wasn't sure if that would fit the other models. I really liked the ride of the Fatbob, but think the Sport Glide would be more practical. I like the look of the Sport better too. I hate the idea of its "slammed" rear pogo though. The only thing that gets slammed is the cartilage between my vertebrae.
Well done!
saddlebag yea, that taller shocks helps the ride quality a lot. It’s a huge upgrade for the money.
@@MattLaidlaw Hi Matt, just curious, how much to get/install the Heritage rear shock onto a Low Rider (ballpark figure its OK). Thanks!
Yo Harley-davidson can't you see people love the all blacked out motorcycle options directly from the factory ! It is also about time you started building all your motorcycles with inverted forks. You talk about improved ride & handling on the softtails but continue using obsolete technology on them . You guys went with the Brembo brakes. How about working with Ohlins suspensions ? Only the best for the best ?
I mean they are far from the best… I chose my dyna every day over my triumph, but Harley really only relies on customer base and the experience of riding. They have never focused on what’s actually best.
Nice bike build and nice video too: Thanks for sharing Matt; I’m sure this will inspire those FXDLS fans!
Magnificent bike and a superb vid. I was just thinking how lowrider will look like with apes or blacked out and suddenly this great machine popped out:). Great bike ride safe. Thx Matt for this great channel
Awesome build. I’m curious if HD will bring the FXDLS back for the Softail frame
Dammit, this guy read my mind except for the wheels. I like the two toned wheels with white letter tires. Good job man!
Nick's got a natural radio voice! He should start a podcast.
Thanks man! Maybe we should do a Harley podcast here at Laidlaw's!
That turned out really nice, I'm not a dripping in chrome guy. I was bummed when there was no "s" in the new line up, hopefully it's coming
damn Nick really killed this mod, this is amazing
Nice bike! Pipes sound meaty. Love the blacked out look. Great video Matt!
Debating on bars and risers for my 2018 FXLR to get that look. Considering the Street Slammers in chrome or risers and drag bar. Looking at the Memphis Shades cafe fairing too.
They should make this model available, Softtail Low S
I love that 2 into 1. I like that air intake better than the one on the Lowrider s. Great build man
Those forks need to be done ! Gsxr gold forks would be great for that stage 4 kit
Bad ass bike Nick! Great video again as always Matt. 👍👍
Thank you !
That bike is awesome. Did Nick have to get new cables when doing that handlebar and riser swap?
It is a different model that Harley could think about. With the rear suspension you are more into the front. More aggressive. I like it
Lucky..Benefits of working at HD ..bike looks great 🤘🏽
This was such a nice build. I think I like it more than the new S. A second disc up on the front would have been a nice addition, but besides that, I love it.
Great post, purrfect set-up on the LR S. I bet you could sell a ton of these.
Just out of curiosity, how much would a bike build like this cost? I know the low rider is on the lower end of the softtails but all the parts and labor must add up!
Stanton Higham At least 25 grand all together. You have to consider the initial cost of the bike, the stage 4, all the intricate blacked out pieces. You’d be surprised how quickly it adds up.
Amazing bike !!!
You're inspiring me to apply some of your ideas onto my bike.
leon323 good luck with your build man!
That is a beautiful bike , I love what you did to it.
Great build. Well polished vid Matt. Really like this kid.
Very nice. Next mod should be to get some new brake rotors. Those rotors your bike came with have been around forever. They are what my 2008 Night Train came with and I replaced them with the Vivid Black floating rotors. My bike looks much better now.
Anyway, hoping you "have miles of smiles" on your Low Rider.
What a badass video! Nice changes on that low rider.
It should come stock like this from Harley! Great Build!! I hope Harley took some pointers....
Hell no they didn't take pointers. Not in the way you mean anyway. Harley has catalogs FULL of aftermarket parts, and at 100 per hour for their labor, they're making a killing with bolt-on upgrades!
As we say in London UK...that is a fucking nice bike!
Nice looking bike. Alot of thought gone into the upgrades. Very nicely done.
Love the bike looks awesome. Any chance on you letting us know what the total cost of the mod/build was?
@GIANT VEINEY PENIS I've answered it a couple of times already in different videos. We have one on the floor right now, its 23k without the stage 4, would be about 4k more with the engine mods.
Looks awesome! I picked up a 2018 lowrider earlier this year, personally I really like the chrome and 70's vibe but I dig the blacked out look on your bike. Just curious, anyone know if it would it be possible to install a 117 kit on a M8 107?
Big fan of the blacked out look
Sweet, only thing I would add personally is mini apes and a tank and headlight lift, but I’m real tall. I love high clearance Harleys.
Beautifully done Nick,great vid Matt
Nice build young man... great presentation... ride safe and keep up the great work.
@M R What about my riding makes me an ass?
Hey matt, suggestion ....how about same project but with sport glide, I think I will be awesome flipped forks and blacked out mantis rims , same drag handel bars......all blacked out ...maan you should do that bro
Really a "SWEET" build, wish you would post some numbers for that 114 stage 4 build. I know what Harley says but some real world dyno numbers from a actual build.
Really cool I wouldn't change a thing on it thanks for the video Matt take care
Can you make a video on the fairing installation? I have the same motorcycle and I’m catching hell with my fairing!
That's funny how he started on an fxr. A salesman at my dealership did the same thing, he just took a different direction with his low rider.
Hey Nick, is there a reason not to go for the 124ci S&S instead of the 114 screaming eagle?
Just wondering because i would imaging the price would be the same roughly. Putting aside the fact you work for HD
Is reliability or fuel economy an issue?
Hi Harley looks great I am buying one in the uk was it expensive to powder cote all the Crome work and the wheels worth it looks great safe riding all the best paul
Your employee is a really good spokesperson for Laidlaw HD.
I like the low rider look anyway. But, it looks like Newbie Nick has a Boss ass ride. Thanks Matt.
YET ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO! THAT FXLR LOOKS BADASS!
oH STOP IT YOU'RE MAKING ME BLUSH
Something like this is exactly what I want.
Grats Nick - awesome job on the bike!
I’m glad you have your helmet on because one of these days somebody’s going to open a car door when you’re riding between cars !!
And if I sit behind them at lights someone will be texting and run me over from behind. The University of California Berkeley found that splitting lanes results in less severe injuries than not splitting lanes, but they are only the highest rated public university in the country.
Fuck yeah! I have a 2018 FXLR that I'm about to customize too. Love the direction Nick took with this one. Killer vid as always, Matt🤙🏽
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sinful black and mean. Love it!! HD really need to put out some blacked out S models... Dynacologist!? Hah! Great stuff!
Keep em´coming sir!
Man those 2 bros exhaust!
I just “like” the new low rider, but I absolutely love what you did with yours.
Beautiful bike !!! I would swap out the brake rotors next .
Beautiful build Where can we get that laydown license plate?
Man that blacked out Low Rider is beautiful. Awesome idea with the Heritage mono shock. How much higher does the seat sit with that change?
Lovely looking bike Nick and a great video to match it Matt.
Thanks for watching
Great idea, great video as usual Matt. Thanks a lot. How about a 2018 blacked out slim "s" with 180 rear tire ? That is a project to consider .
Meesa likes the new cvo road glide....oeeef, that puppy got some purr.
Is the sound of pipes on par with older Harleys , decibal soundwise
Where can I buy that windscreen? really nice...
gorgeous bike he has there
