2nd place winner of the Bricks in Motion contest BRAWL 2022 (Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long) Music by www.fiftysounds.com Track: A World of Color Track: Bohemian Garden
Fantastic, in every way, the cinematography is weirdly beautiful, Sets are amazing, the sound design is awesome, and it's very smooth, I also really like how grounded it is, unlike 90% of brickfilms, But this is amazing, and I love it.
Deserves more views! I watch a lot of LEGO videos and this was a breath of fresh air. I like the animation and the framing of shots. The color palette while being dull is my fav aesthetic. It’s such a unique story! It’s short and simple but very entertaining. I’m definitely subbing 👍
Absolutely fantastic film, love the vibe and grounded nature of it all, your films capture such an astounding sense of realism despite being made out of such non realistic materials, love the addition of all the colorless/repetitively colored items and then contrasting with the light from the final purple
Thanks! Knowing that this would be a more ambitious film compared to my previous years I tried to keep the sets more simplistic and focused mainly on the scale and color of them rather than detail!
Out of all the "routine" brickfilms out there... this is by far the best one. The setup and cinematography is beautiful, and your character feels so grounded and real. I wanted more at the end, but at the same time, I'm just so impressed with what you were able to produce within a week. Fantastic work, this is one of my favorite entries so far. :)
I don't think I can put into words how much I love this film, but I'm going to try. One of the things that I really appreciate is the face choice for Charlie. He's not sad _looking_, which would be the first choice someone goes for. Instead, he looks tired, worn out, and beaten down by life, and the stubble, crow's feet, the slight grin in an attempt to mask how he feels make this so clear. If making a Minifigure for an animation is like casting an actor, then you cast Charlie perfectly. Another thing I love is how fast the cuts get around the 1:50 mark. It's almost brutal how quickly you cut during that section. I think 9 people out of 10 would have gone for fewer, more drawn-out shots, but these quicker shots (as well as the constantly changing background noise) do so much more for conveying the feeling. I could go on and on, and I'll probably comment again after I've watched it even more times, but I'll just leave it at this for now: you captured all the pain and beauty of humanity in such a painfully beautiful way, and you should be incredibly proud.
Thank you! The character design was pretty simple really. I don't have that many heads with that similar expression so I just went with the one I had. I'm glad you thought it was perfect! I also wanted to experiment with fast cut editing. I've seen it in a few movies before and was intrigued to try it out. But I didn't want to just reuse the same footage over and over so instead it's a different shot everytime! Again, thank you for this comment! I'm really happy you liked it!
Excellent work! The technical part is highly mastered, as usual, even though you tried lots if new things in this video. I love the story too, how a break in the routine, first perceived as being painful, can bring an element of newness, can allow surprise, can open a mystery door towards so much vibrant poetry….! Bravo!!!
Wow this is really good! You've managed to make a lego minifigure feel like a realistic, lived-in person. Great cinematography as well! Congratulations on placing in the contest!
Damn, once again you've managed to make something incredible engaging and human. I love this film because I felt connected to this lego character, I loved how you showed his life story in a simple yet creative way and the ending left me to wonder what he saw and create my own conclusions which is always fun to do! Awesome job dude
Nice, love it, a little depressing but somehow still retains hopeful vibes, not quite sure what’s up with the ending, but the cinematography is on point as always, as well as the color. There’s one shot near the middle with some light flicker, as well as a slightly weird shot with the street, but overall, chances are you’ll beat your THAC record! Great job!
An absolutely superb film!! Loved the setup, and Charlie’s monologue to the audience, but that final scene is a stunning centrepiece to everything. I can’t say why exactly, but it really impacted on me, and added so much more weight to everything before it. Really lovely work!
I watched this video Vibrant again tonight... and I vibrated, what else can I say? I am mesmerized. A true piece of art in my book.
That film made me speechless.😮. This is sick
Great video!! Congratulations!!!
Ah nice work as expected, keep up the good work and good luck with the contest!

Love the dialogue and sounds!! What a story! Good luck!!
Came here from the brickfilms rewind dang is this good!
Amazing! Everything about it!
You know a movie is good if you watch it over and over again. Great job! The timing, the humor, the cinematography, just wow!
Everything from the storytelling, to the imagery, to the animation is absolutely stunning! Great job!
I don't know how to describe the feelings I had while watching this. It's so real! Great film, man!
If this doesn't place top 5 then we riot.
This was beautiful Stephan!
I love the depth of field and how smooth it is. Nice work!

Loved the shot where Charlie is washing the dishes. Very nice color contrast and smooth cinematography.
Amazing, especially the cinematography. The only thing I would change would be the title sequence with that music lol
Woah! I love everything about it. This is how you make a real movie using lego bricks. I can’t describe with words how good this piece of art is.
This is incredible. The fact you made this in a week is mad. The story is on point for the theme. Definitely a top three for me

Too underrated.
This is mind-blowing. You created all this in a week?! Incredible work man, this was some top tier stuff.

Nice 🔥
Nice vid, I’m curious as to what he saw at the end. Will you ever make a tutorial?
i subbed
At 2:12 is the best shot. May be I am too dumb but why he seems to find the "light"?
