  • This free school and school of freedom, this free culture and culture of freedom, teaches the lesson of freedom. Then Hussain ibn Ali cries out: "أَلَا وَ إِنَّ الدَّعِيَّ ابْنَ الدَّعِي‏" (Beware! Verily the bastard son of a ‏bastard…!");
    we are neither afraid of the drawn sword and nor submit to humiliation; we are neither afraid of the unsheathed sword and nor we consent to slavery. What the Bani Umayyad and their associates did was that they took the school as their captive, and then became the spokespersons of the school! This captive school teaches the lesson of captivity, not the lesson of freedom! The noble existence of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, said that we liberated the school. But after the passing and martyrdom of the noble existence of Imam Ali, they once again took this liberated school captive; the Umayyads again enslaved this very culture.
    The great sage Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, who was one of the great and powerful sages of the Islamic Iran [of that time], a contemporary of the late Avicenna and had intellectual exchanges and questions and answers with him, narrates in his research On India ماللهند that Mu'awiyah would sell the bejeweled idols of the pagan rulers of the conquered countries as exports of the Islamic country to India; Mu'awiyah had become an idol-seller!
    The Master of Martyrs [Imam Hussain] closely witnessed that the same pre-Islamic ignorance had returned. The issue was not that "I will not pledge allegiance even if I am martyred," the issue was that "I must liberate the enslaved Islam and I will do it." Someone asked the noble existence of Imam Sajjad, peace be upon him, about who the victorious was in the field of Karbala. He said: "نَحْنُ!" (We were!) He said:
    «إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تَعْلَمَ مَنْ غَلَبَ وَ دَخَلَ وَقْتُ الصَّلَاةِ فَأَذِّنْ ثُمَّ أَقِمْ»
    "If you want to know who was victorious and the time of prayer has entered, then call the call to prayer (Azan/Adhan) and then stand up [establishing your prayer]"; We went and revived the name of the Prophet, revived the prayer, revived the Monotheism [Oneness of Allah the Almighty], revived the Divine Revelation, and returned; we were victorious.
    If a person discusses and examines these [matters] well, even when sitting alone at home, they will shed tears! That which the noble existence [of Imam Hussain] said: I have risen to enjoin what is right and to forbid what is wrong, this is the continuation of [his statement]: «أَ لَا تَرَوْنَ أَنَّ الْحَقَّ لَا يُعْمَلُ بِهِ وَ أَنَّ الْبَاطِلَ لَا يُتَنَاهَی عَنْهُ»
    “Do you not see that the truth is not acted upon and falsehood is not refrained from!”
    The most important truth is that "إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ" (Indeed, Allah is the Truth [and all else is falsehood]) [Al-Hajj: 62]. And that which " is not acted upon!" is Monotheism, that has taken its leave, and in the wake of the departure of Oneness, the matter of commanding the good and forbidding the evil has been forgotten.
    He said the situation is that now the pre-Islamic ignorance is returning; the caliph of the Muslims who has occupied the place of the Prophet has become an idol-seller! Then he said that here only blood is needed; someone said I will give a horse, armor, shield, sword and spear, he said these are of no use to us, we want blood! What do we recite in the "Ziyarat Arba'een"? We say: "وَ بَذَلَ مُهْجَتَهُ فِيكَ لِيَسْتَنْقِذَ عِبَادَكَ مِنَ الْجَهَالَةِ وَ حَيْرَةِ الضَّلَالَة" “And he sacrificed his soul/blood for Your sake to awaken Your servants from ignorance and the confusion of misguidance”; the same two tasks that the Prophet had, which were "يُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَ الْحِكْمَةَ" (to teach them the Book and wisdom) (one), and "وَ يُزَكِّيهِمْ" (and to purify them) (two), Hussain ibn Ali, peace be upon them, also gave his blood, to eradicate both intellectual ignorance and practical ignorance, as well as deviation and misguidance.
    He said that only those who are willing to sacrifice their blood can join in my movement: "مَنْ كَانَ بَاذِلًا فِينَا مُهْجَتَهُ" (Whoever sacrifices his blood for us); it is not about spending wealth;
    "مَنْ كَانَ بَاذِلًا فِينَا مُهْجَتَهُ وَ مُوَطِّناً عَلَي لِقَاءِ اللَّهِ نَفْسَهُ فَلْيَرْحَلْ مَعَنَا"
    (Whoever sacrifices his blood for us and is determined to meet Allah, he should depart/travel with us); the one who wants to go [with us] out of fear of Hell is not a pure Karbala'i, the one who goes in hope of Paradise is not a pure Hussaini, the one who seeks "لقاء الله" (meeting with Allah) and to whom the concluding part of Surah Al-Qamar awaits for, "إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَ نَهَرٍ ٭ فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ" (Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and rivers, in a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Omnipotent), he is a true Hussaini!
