    Excellent pre-op teaching. I am having my upper bleph done this coming Tuesday in Toronto. You covered many of the concerns I still have going in. I am also a cardiac operating room nurse who fully appreciates the time you took in this video to explain the procedure in great detail. If I lived near you, you would have definitely been my surgeon. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

    I had upper Blephroplasty surgery done by an Oculoplastic surgeon in Honolulu, Hawaii and it was well worth it. I was referred by my Optometrist and now I can see way better. I was told during the initial consultation exam that I had lost 30% of my upper peripheral vision and that the surgery will be covered by the insurance. It made a difference when I went for my annual eye exam as I now could see all the blinking dots during peripheral vision test.

I am in the process of getting this surgery done, but I have some reservations about the method the doctor has explained to me. He tells me that they would roll the upper eyelid back and do the incision on the backside and then stich it up. I would then be required to where a contact lens for a short time until the incision heels. I cannot find any reference or examples of this procedure. I would appreciate to hear what your opinion might be. Thanks

    I heard you say you frequently do blepharoplasty on both eyes at the same surgery which should promote symmetry. Is it a preferred or possible procedure to remove protruding lower lid fat pads at the same time? If both lids of both eyes are operated on during one surgery, does this impact the recovery period or increase potential complications, such as eyes no longer closing completely or other issues?

      Many surgeons will do both an upper and lower blepharoplasty at the same time. It typically doesn't cause extra complications as long as the surgeon is careful. That being said, insurance will never cover lower blepharoplasty (since it's viewed as cosmetic). Having both will make you a little more black and blue for longer, but otherwise, the surgeon should never operate so much as to prevent eye closure!

    Question Dr Rupa, For Upper Eye Lid surgery do the surgeon needs to do the lower lid surgery first or is this a separate procedure? My brother went to have upper lid Surgery refereed by his primary doctor and when he came out all they did was a snip & tuck of the Bottom lid Later the Surgeon said he was going to schedule the 2nd surgery to do the upper lid and We were shocked! We thought that everything was done on the first time!! Is this common practice?

    I’ve been binge watching your videos, but I was curious about the effects of strip lashes and their glue. I’m in my third year of university and I’ve switched between extensions and strip lashes because of maintenance and cost BUT I have had my fair share of adhesive from strip lashes getting in my eyes. As a person who wears contacts I wonder how much more it damages my eyes and the extent of the damage.

    • @DrRupaWong
      @DrRupaWong  3 года назад +2

      Excellent point. It's on my list to research the glue. But from what I can tell it seems to be about the same as lash extension glue. Not something you actually want in your eye.
