To summarize this, Game has potential now, and i like it. As someone who also has beta I can say most what you said is true and I agree. For me only and most jarring thing is character lack of expression sometimes, and yes HG can do better with this, they only need to want it. As for Perlica she suppost to be bit emotionless but maybe not to that extent would be bit better?. There is even in game joke about her and "tata" having more emotes then Perlica expression.
Wait...hold up the start was much different then what you said from what i remember. We lost our memories because our recovery was interupted since the recovery was *supposed* to restore our memories, and we were in recovery because 10 years ago we entered a critical state rather then the crisis being over. Other then that great review!
They state later that something else was the cause of the loss of memories but we don't find out what during the beta. Both are true but as I said, I'm not reviewing the story just yet because I want to rewatch everything story related.
Hi Chaotik, great review, I agree with most of what you've said here. I also think Perlica's voice acting does need a bit more oomph to it, which is a shame, because I've honestly loved her design ever since she was teased at the first announcement of Endfield (Helps that I'm a Liberi lover from OG AK). I would like if they kept her calm demeanor as befitting of a CEO who has to deal with crises, but I do agree that there needs to be more moments where her emotions flare and her voice gets more intense, to show that she does react in a way that is more natural. Xaihi's robotic voice works because she's meant to be trying to act like a robot, but Perlica just seems a bit too calm to anything that happens in the story. Would love to see the VA behind Perlica pull it off and create a character I can cherish along with Amiya from OG AK.
That's why i always choose the JP voice in these kinds of games , jp has so much more emotion and flare and intensity it's not even comparable to English voice.
Very solid all of this, i will just disagree with one part, the part about adding an option to be able to not get any tutorials, i've seen it done many times, and everytime it just ends up with the peoples choosing that option to come complain because x mechanic is too difficult because they don't know how to deal with it even tho it was told, the amount of players that you lose this way is not worth cattering to the little amount of players that will use that mechanic and would honestly not even mind if it's there or not
I put that for two reasons. The main one is because I like learning through trial and error till I have no choice but to look up the tutorial but I also put it there because the players who will complain about mechanics are also the people skipping these without reading them or looking up guides to simplify it for them. Having a tutorial in your face every 2 seconds (the entire of the beginning of the game had ALOT of tutorials) isn't going to force people to read and learn. These are also the players that are going to quit without learning anything about the game. The players that are going to quit the game without trying to learn the game or feel like it's too much to learn, theres no point in trying to keep them. Those who want to learn and try the mechanics will seek the help if needed through tutorials or videos.
I agree with the template being just a template and not a copy-paste thing, bc allowing players to do that would just kill half the activity you're supposed to delve into. Also the difficulty. IMHO I'd love to see Endfield play more with boss mechanics and not just make them huge stat sticks (don't just give them 1M HP and such. I'd love a boss that is interesting mechanics-wise).
I think Perlica is fine imo and the VA did a good job with her. She isn't emotionless at all, you can see her worries and concerns showing in some cutscenes concerning the Endmin and she even blushed when Chen spilled the beans on how much Perlica talks about the Endmin. I think she is just calm and collected because of her role as the person who leads Endfield when the Endmin is asleep. And besides, Kaltsit is even more stoic and monotone yet we still love her.
I disagree but that's fine. Her expressions do not reflect the concerns that she is vocally expressing and she sounds like a drone trying to express those concerns but that's just my opinion on it. If you're alright with it, that's fine. We just have differing opinions.
@@Cha0tikXGryphline Glad to have a civil chat with someone on the internet :D I will say though now that you mentioned it. She could use some improvements on the facial expressions department.
It's all a conversation. We just want a good game and as long as we can have good conversation about it instead of arguing, we will be all good :) Thanks for watching the video.
@@Cha0tikXGryphlineI think as if right now, my opinion of Perlica is more of the same with what I felt with Amiya in the start of my experience of Arknights, it’s still mixed. Tho I would say that she is definitely just suppressing her feelings toward the Endmin. It is made very obvious in the last scene of this beta. When you wake up with failed recovery of your memories, she has confusion or maybe disappointment written all over her face. And right after she is found confronting M3, clearly frustrated and almost pressuring M3 to give her an answer. After apologizing to you she started to tell you what you once told her about Talos II, and do a sigh that is almost sobbing. Also funny enough the most happy I saw Perlica is when Yvonne was praising the Endmin. After those small details I would say that they at least know what they want to do with Perlica’s personality. I’d just wait it out if it’s good or bad in the end.
I think Perlica is fine for me too, we just have to accept sometimes people are just boring but thats fine we still love them (Friends or Fam). And I think HG knows that too and that's why we have Chen to balance it out. I think that's why Chen stands out more in the party coz Chen (Jolly), Perlica (Calm & Collected) and Endmin (Ok) rather than Chen (Jolly), Perlica (Jolly or shows more emotion) then Endmin will be the (Bland) one. I do agree however, if Perlica stays like this for the rest of the Game's lifespan and its super bad. I surmise that we still need a Ch3,ch6,ch8 or even Babel Equivalent Event for Perlica to open up more and show emotions. Or dare I say we need more deaths for her to develop. I think she is still a wine that needs to age more. Keep up the good Work Man! Excited for Enfield!
I dont really see any problem with the dodging as far as I can see (then again i havent played he beta. So this is mostly opinion of what i've watched) perhaps they can make it so perfect dodge dont take stamina. Because from what what i can see, the dodge mechanics is similar to souls games (and their dodges is even less rewarding) where you have to perfect the timing otherwise get hit, even when you dodge correctly your reward is that you didnt get hit. So it adds a layer of difficulty in the combat aspect. Overall though endfield has so much potential, i might play this on re,ease. If i have a feedback, perhaphs they can add a coop defense raid like in arknight where players defend their base from incoming enemies each round.
So much things affected by dodge cancel the attack combo. From Chain skill, SP and the most important thing is the overall enjoyment. It's not even about strategy, positioning or skill issues, most of the time you fight group of enemies trying to land a final strike against group of enemies while dodging their attacks is just not a good experience. If dodge didn't cancel the attack combo so you can get to final strike that's good and rewarding for being able to dodge. Majority of Beta tester complained about dodge. SP also something they should improve. Sure there are SP battery operator/team but what if we want to play other team comp but it's not fun because of how SP works. You have to always keep 1 SP to cancel enemy charging attack so you always play with 2 SP and it's limiting the combat. If we can and improve it we don't need to defending the game or it will not improve it.
Not sure I understood exactly what bothered you in Perlica's character/voice over/visual performance honestly. Watching this part of the video only got me confused (especially as a beta player who also got a good 70+ hours on the game as of now).
If you go listen to literally any other language and go back to English and here how they convey emotions better compared to English, then you should understand. If not, it's fine. You don't have to agree with me. It's just my opinion on the vocal performance and expressions compared to everyone else in the game.
I feel you when you say "don't make this game easy and boring". I've been trying out wuwa for a while now since ppl keep praising it, and while the game isn't bad, it holds your hand CONSTANTLY even on the easiest puzzles I've ever seen in a game, and most fights (save a few) are really easy to the point you can win them by just mashing buttons. I really hope endfield doesn't take that approach
14:00 This brother, ho lee chet, the amount of times I wanted to pull out my hair in a mihoyo game, every single time stopping me while playing the game because of a stupid tutorial made for toddlers is absurd. Hope they delivery it.
The problem with making gacha games difficult is that it always end up being time challenges against HP sponges, pick meta team, spam skills in rotation mindlessly. You didn't succeed? Need to farm and grind more, rince and repeat. If difficulty was made in a way that rewards true skill, I'll be all for it, but the way gachas are designed, you'll never have a balanced challenge that allows for player expression and creativity, it's always an on rails meta driven drag of a fight.
There are absolutely no boss timers in this game and they actually showed real mechanics that they could abuse to make things more challenging. The developers said in an interview that they wanted to make an experience for people who crave unique experiences. This is their chance to show it. The biggest issue will be making characters that don't eliminate challenges from the game as they move forward into new mechanics and harder content.
I agree to this too. Just something I forgot to include. While yes, trash mobs should be easier than most but I'd still like them to react and provide a good combat experience.
@@Cha0tikXGryphline Exactly this. Some of the upper tier mobs do have some pretty nice reactions like dodging and weaving to avoid attacks and stuff so I guess even if the trash mobs won't have such combat proficiency, make them more reckless and just fight scrappy or something just faster and less sluggish.
Yeah, my biggest complaint so far is the story, JP voice so i had no VO issues, but the how the characters lack good back and forth with each other, jokes or even development really felt bad. Also the villain sucks. I also agree with the dodge. So many enemies have an attack that goes faster than your basic attack combo, so if you dodge you never get off that final hit. I do also think some of the enemy combat mechanics are just unfun (the fire dude you can't melee, the ladies who dodge non-stop, etc). Otherwise the combat is great. I also think it has a lot of needlessly tedious things that were just unfun and made me wonder if the devs hate players. What on earth is the point of the small back pack. Why have each region have different storages, the trasnferring between them sucks and i don't want to remake the same AIC setups over again. The having to manually wire the electric to the power polls instead of just making them work like the ziplines do (just place them in range). BUT I am still having a ton of fun, i do really enjoy thrle combat and the UI is visually fantastic. It's doing so much right, just needs the fun polish applied to it (including to the story).
The biggest aspect of the game is base building AK veteran: I bet it is. I understand your point about : They can copy base design but need to build it manually. For a fair effort x rewards. However, believe me when i say a lot of people feel overwhelmed seeing the base building aspect of this game and just straight say to me ' Is there template that i can copy n paste?' It's a lot. Like most of my gacha and non gacha gamers say this thing. So, IMO, gatekeeping base building can be a huge hindrance. In fact, allowing people to copy and paste automatically will be the key to ease others to join in and not feel overwhelmed with the base building aspect.
While I do agree that base-building can seem intimidating, I don't think it would be wise to allow for fully optimized base designs to be created within a few minutes of work. It feels like cutting out a core mechanic of the game, which is building the factory. An equivalence for this would be asking for a skip button for boss fights because you find combat too hard. I agree that basic templates for production lines should be added, but they should be unoptimized and can be added onto easily to make them better. A co-op mode for base-building would also be nice. At the max, I think copying outpost bases from your friends on your friends list would be okay, since those are usually much smaller than the core factory area. But I don't think it's gatekeeping to want to ask people to learn the game instead of foregoing an entire mechanic.
i prefer they make it manual as the base building is by no exaggeration half of the game, and you're not just left with 1 but multiple spot to build them and it will keep increasing with new region not to mention having to also connects ziplines and mining rig, as game doesnt need to catter to anyone IMO giving the option to just copy people base remove the enticement to start factory simulation game for people who havent tried it, forcing them to do it manual makes them able to get used to how factory simulation work which is quite common heck this beta did that to some people realising it was only intimidating at first but enjoyable the more we optimised, as optimising will always be more rewardful when you're the one with the solution instead of default copy, i trust the dev vision as they always want to try something new and doesnt always try to get as many player like their OG AK game (you cant instant copy people base rotation and build you have to do them manually and the game is almost 6 years at this point)
It's not gatekeeping. Base building is the game. Would you buy a shooter just to not play the shooter because it's overwhelming? What about racing games? It seems too difficult and fast so we need auto steering? If someone doesn't like or want to play the base building game then don't play it but the devs shouldn't ruin the basis of the entire game for those who actually want to play it and learn the systems. I'm sure Dark Souls and Elden Ring were overwhelming at first but overcoming the challenge is the game. Make it too easy and the game is ass at that point. A template is good enough. It seems mean but they might as well have never made the mechanic if they were going to let one person make the best base just for everyone to just use that. It's only going to take one video then my motivation to explore and try my own builds will disappear. If people don't want to play the game, then don't. The devs shouldn't accommodate those people who are most likely going to quit because they don't want to learn the mechanics.
Everything can look overwhelming from a bystander pov but once you try it yourself and learn how it works you'll think that it isn't as bad as you thought and you might even find it enjoyable. And if someone has tried a game with a similar aspect (factorio, satisfactory, etc) and didn't like it then that just simply means this genre isn't for them and move on to other games they would enjoy more.
Hard disagree. It's a subtle way of telling players to not bother actually learning to base build since theres a way better template available already, that a new player wouldnt think of. At that point they might as well remove the feature.
About base building templates: I'm not sure if it was every explicitly stated, but I imagine that Hypergriph is trying to reach a wider, more mainstream audience with this game, so while base building might be right in line with Arknights fans, it's clearly intimidating for the casual crowd. There has to be some compromise implemented to assist these type of players. I'm not exactly sure what that would look like though. I'm very much interested in this game, as the world of Arknights, art and characters have always captured my attention, however from the outside looking in, base building looks complicated af and could potentially be a turn off from getting deep into the game. I don't think I'm the only one that feels this way. Just my thoughts. The game does look amazing.
i just hope they really rework most of the voice acting. sadly it really sounds either overly expressive like your typical anime dubbing, or lifeless and has no expression at all...
at 02:25 i lost the excitement a little i never play a anime style gacha gaming with eng dub and never will, super cringe and like listening a robot talking, japan dub always the best voice for anime style gacha gaming, really makes the char alive and have a soul
I am even more excited for the game now🔥. However, I kind of disagree with not letting players download base templates. I think you can let them do that and then have them grind for the structures/buildings; maybe that way people who aren't into base building can still find pleasure through the grind.
But it's a base building game. Why would you play a base building game just to not learn the mechanics and build your own base. Chaos is right, downloading someone else's base shouldn't be something that exists. Only manual building should exist so people can actually learn to play.
@leoclarke8700 true I agree with that statement, but I'm not really interested in the base building I think the combat, story and art is what draws me not really the base building but who knows I might fall in love with it.
A good way to add it is to just put it behind a level requirement. Have people go through the tutorial, and make them have to build a simple base and some other things, after some time building bases, give them the option to download templates, so if they really didn't click with it, they have the chance to enjoy the other parts of the game.
@@BlueA Honestly, that sounds like a good idea it will give players some time to get familiar with that part of the game, and if later down the line they feel overwhelmed or bored with it, they can get an easier way to integrate with base building so they can focus on other aspects of the game they enjoy more. However, I am also afraid of the effect of watering down that mechanic could do because it seems to be a core aspect of the game and i do not want the devs to change their vision of the game just to please people like me who suck at base building Maybe I just have a bad take IDK, but I am still going to play the game and learn the base building, who knows I might end up liking it.
@@BlueA no it shouldn't be in the game at all. It's a base builder. Make the player learn now to play the game. Adding a feature like this encourages not to play the game. If people don't want to build bases, don't play the base builder and play another action game. Hypergryph shouldn't cater to those who don't want to play the game they are building. Chaos talked about this many times and I agree that it ruins experience.
can you skip the dialogue / story??? if not its a deal breaker for me, which would be sad because game looks great - also I agree, without endgame hard content game is pointless.

I've watched most of your streams for this beta. You got me really wanting to play the game really badly😂
I tried Arknights but couldn't get into it because I'm not a fan of tower defense but I really can't wait to play Arknights Endfield
One of 2025's best upcoming Gacha games with easily some of the biggest potential the genre has to offer.
Yeah!

Great review.
Thx for the video!
Glad you liked it! Thank you for watching
So true on that no downloading base part. If they did that would mean your just playing half of the game
Yes I agree. Blueprint system will ruin the core part of the gameplay.
Sadly the changed intro means no more Cannot. But hey we met totally not Kaltsit as a proper npc i guess.
@@TrollBishbaalkin for like...no time at all lol
Wow can't wait to play 🤩❤️👍
And all the openworld out there, the color pallete of this game my favorite so far
Don't know if it's just me but i'd like a darker atmosphere. Also, how's the gacha system working? Or it wasn't part of the beta?
Jeez I'm already hyped to play this. Just need a release date for all plaforms and I'd start playing on PS5
4:14 Yvoone's worst enemy 😂
Game looks truly great. I'm so happy it's something DIFFERENT
Let's hope they don't include the civilian mechanic and the sheep... I dread how nightmarish they will be compared to OG AK 💀
Can't wait for tha game
Honest the fact the gear stats are static lowk makes this better than how genshin does it.😂😂
Relic farming is the most interesting part of Genshin
How about making perfect dodge trigger finisher attack instad?
11:29 ayeeee yoooo
@@Cha0tikXGryphline Glad to have a civil chat with someone on the internet :D
I will say though now that you mentioned it.
AK players eating good this year
As Ak enjoyer I say if you play a game over 60+ hours and you find it good, then it’s fun
Also... 65 hours is when I stopped counting lol its def 80 - 100. I just kept it as is for the video
Nice
If we can and improve it we don't need to defending the game or it will not improve it.
just need to revamp the base again after this video
I like that approach I hate try hard difficult games
14:00 This brother, ho lee chet, the amount of times I wanted to pull out my hair in a mihoyo game, every single time stopping me while playing the game because of a stupid tutorial made for toddlers is absurd. Hope they delivery it.
plateforming stage in is should give artefact, and in foction of plateforming time clear more or less choice of artefacts
No, the artifact/gear system is as fine as it is no need to copy from genshin or wuwa
No, the artifact/gear system is as fine as it is no need to copy from genshin or wuwa
@@rachel6301 i think by artifact they mean getting relic in IS like in Arknights sort of temp buff or debuff
Grind loot for things to unlock... skill...
@@Cha0tikXGryphlinethey’d want those characters tho because they sell
I want the trash mobs to be more reactive instead of moving in what feels like 0.5X speed relative to the player's character :v
What is Gryphline?
The biggest aspect of the game is base building
AK veteran: I bet it is.
I understand your point about : They can copy base design but need to build it manually. For a fair effort x rewards.
However, believe me when i say a lot of people feel overwhelmed seeing the base building aspect of this game and just straight say to me ' Is there template that i can copy n paste?'
It's a lot.
Sooo....the combat system almost same like Tales Series......I'm in
Release date? 😮
Probably around a mid 2025 but at the latest is in August due to Chinese licensing.
👍
First? For the second time?
Arknights Peakfield
Perlica gives me Yangyang vibes (before her voice direction improved)
The game does look amazing.
i hope for a few 6* male characters... if there is non it will end badly
I'd argue that Perlica isn't the worst NPC, it's the damned fat owl character
Lol 🤣 Andre is a close second
I hope HG with Lowlight gonna follow same path as Wuwa, fixing everything people sayin, afterall they both pals as well
SIS UNLOKES UI HAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHA ....................................................... THAT WAS GOOD
Another MC that lost da memory .
Same trope as the OG AK
i just hope they really rework most of the voice acting. sadly it really sounds either overly expressive like your typical anime dubbing, or lifeless and has no expression at all...
Im quite fine with the dubbing. But maybe thats just me.
at 02:25 i lost the excitement a little
i never play a anime style gacha gaming with eng dub and never will,
super cringe and like listening a robot talking,
japan dub always the best voice for anime style gacha gaming,
really makes the char alive and have a soul
However, I am also afraid of the effect of watering down that mechanic could do because it seems to be a core aspect of the game and i do not want the devs to change their vision of the game just to please people like me who suck at base building
Maybe I just have a bad take IDK, but I am still going to play the game and learn the base building, who knows I might end up liking it.
Chaos talked about this many times and I agree that it ruins experience.
ok, i guess its just me, but its feels so wrong for me, that hyper realistic world + anime charachter
can you skip the dialogue / story??? if not its a deal breaker for me, which would be sad because game looks great - also I agree, without endgame hard content game is pointless.
yes, there's a skip button.
Feel like a lot of games struggle with casting EN voices, conclusion? Mald jp is better 😭😭😭jokes aside I do hope they convey these things better, even if I don't play in with EN voices
