How quickly would you know if your pointing will fail? I’ve got sections which have gone noticeably lighter than the rest after a week despite hanging wet hessian . The joints feel solid but as I’m on a scaffold I’m not sure whether to repoint those areas or not before it comes down. Your videos have been a great help!
Hose pipe it if it washes out it failed But lime pointing does go lighter then after the lime cures after 90 days it tends to start going towards the sand colour Wattsapp me some pictures of it if you like
This was pointed in full sun without walls being dampened before and after So it dried out to quick Wasn't deep enough And I was told they mixed by hand in a bucket This was 7 days later When I took it out with my fingers
@@GMTpointingspecialistsltd I have a similar area on a wall built on my own house. Sand and cement on a new wall. Dried out too quick as my back garden is in full sun most of the late morning afternoon. Haven’t got round to addressing it. Will be taking out and repointing obviously when it’s not full sun in summer! So any time now really. Nightmare when you have to address issues that shouldn’t happen in the first place.
This is like the apocryphal Chicken soup, only in this case it was the cement scoop that only 'walked through' the sand with its wellington boots on. PS, it could also be that the cement bag had been open for too long, that gives a very friable mix too. Poor work practice either way.
It was the sun dint wet walls down before pointing Didn't cover there pointing with damp hessian 27 degrees full sun behind them Didn't wet the walls down the day after and was only 4 to 5mm thick
@@GMTpointingspecialistsltd Oh I see. Are you saying that apart from that this was a decent cement sand mix, or was it a lime mortar? (can't see any grits in it though). Kind regards.

10/1 mix
sure if they added the 1 lol
It dried out too quickly, supposedly a 3:1 mix, which would of been far to strong anyway for those bricks
Was this built with this weak mortar or just repointed in it?

@onanysundrymule3144 no nothing about it was correct
If he was a roofer, he must of had a labourer to knock up his muck, not enough cement added.
Bloody hell……talk about a house built on sand!!!
It was terrible they hadn't a clue how to do pointing
