I never found info indicating that the M1 had an arpeggiator. I was able to able to get an effect like an arpeggiator by using the LFO. If that's what you mean.
I followed the link from 20:22, there was no screen shot of the SY99. The SY77 has effects sends for each voice in a multitimbral mix. The M1's effects are applied to all the parts in a mix, which can result in a muddy mix if you want a lot of reverb for a pad.
@@offthematrix5310 To use four different effects on a SY77 on 4 different programs you have to use the 2 stereo outputs. Say first program an output one, panned left, second on output one panned right, etc. Then you can apply some independent effect from the effect section, which you will find in the effects numbered 35 to 40. It helps then to uses all four physical outputs and an external mixer to place these four mono programs into a stereo field.
Sorry, I was referring to the screen at 7:08. That is from the SY99, where you can apply different sends from all programs in a multi to the effect processor, just like in an outboard mixer, where you have two different, say SPX900 like effect processors connected.
that's pretty incredible work. this is inspiring me to dive in and see what I can create. I have an m1 new since 88 and EX added as soon as that came out. I'll have a look at the patches, and would you know some links where old libraries of M1 and M1ex patches are stored to try out? would T1 patches downloaded just work in an M1ex as well ? thank you!
Lucas do you still have preload file for EX please? My M1 EX is dry, no sounds in it what so ever and lost the cards in home move. May find them eventually ;/ I guess.
@@cyclesurgerywandsworth1482 i have the white program card MPC-OEX I could try to send you the sysex file of that. what I also did is buy a used korg ram card called the MCR -03. I found one for $40 recently. so I have two of these cards one for storing custom patches and one to hold the original m1 prog combi so I can reload the m1 anytime. if you like I could try to create a sysex file off of the ex program card and send it to you. after you get it you could load it into your m1 internal bank and if you got one of these writable ram cards create your own working ex program card. highly recommended like I said I have two of these ram cards and they work amazingly.
Nice, still have my M1REX from decades ago! Not selling it, even if it has some obvious restrictions in comparison to today's synth tech. ps. where did you get your DX-7 Tee from ?!!
Most comprehensive guide on M1 sound design ever! Love your work
Thanks, I guess all the work was worth it.
Thx so much... you're true underrated
Thanks!
Great work!
I always thought the M1 was a bit bland, but I guess if you put the effort in..........😀
In a way it was an improvement on the DW8000. Without the analog filters though.
Sir, this is excellent work - thank you for sharing your skills 🙏 :)
❤
Thanks. Can we get a walkthrough for the arpeggiator and Workstation?

At 20:22 you show a screen from the SY99 with some program called 'SY77 Multi Voice'.
The SY77 itself was as limited as the M1.

I wonder if they made them duller to hide aliasing

Yes, wouldn't that be nice. I moved house and lost MPC-00P and the rest I had , but EX can do much more: ( can anybody help? )
What do you need help with? Loading patches to the M1?
