Every time I hear Walter Pidgeon, I think I'm watching Forbidden Planet. Barbara Eden had such a warm and natural presence on camera. She just turned 93 last week. Good for her!
The Seaview is a really big place. Long endless empty corridors - with enough space for tennis courts - or an amusement park. Kind of like _2001 A Space Odyssey_ where you have giant space stations, and oversized spaceships going to the moon, with only 3 people on board. The takeaway: In the future there will be plenty of room no matter how you decide to travel. Not!
Not me. My dad and I used to watch this on VHS along with the 1953 version of War of the World's and other classics. He passed away 15 years ago and I'm 34.
This was like a television Who's Who. At the end we even get Robert Easton as a radio operator. When he wasn't acting in hillbilly roles, he was a former child prodigy who coached actors on how to speak with varied accents.
@@Thenogomogo-zo3un It absolutely was. He started out as a trumpet player in the early 1950s. Even played on the Jackie Gleason show when he was in his early teens.
Gotta believe that during this movie, Barbara and Michael got along and eventually fell in love and got married. Michael always played the mean guy in movies and TV shows. In reality, he probably was a very nice and warm person. They stayed together for many years.
Howard McNear and Miss Barbara Eden also both appeared in the same Episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" called "The Manicurist" where the young and obviously curvilinear "Miss Ellen Brown" sought to catch on as a Nail Tech at "Floyd Lawson's Barber Shop."😂😉🎤💅💈👮♂️👮♂️📺B.W.
They had so much talent on one submarine, but this movie just never worked for me. Thankfully for my childhood a cool Irwin Allen series came out of it.
These scenes are from the 1961 feature film “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea”. The 1964-1968 television series was based on this movie, but none of the movie cast reprised their roles for the TV series (exception: Actor Del Monroe, Seaman Kowski in the movie, played recurring character Seaman Kowalski in the series)
floyd from mayberry there!,,he inlisted when Homer did...but the navy instead. As for barbara eden, getting caught dancing,l figured she would get a spanking from him!
Barbara Eden; dancer, singer, actress, mother, wife, friend and what a woman!
🙄Sexist remark...
You'd forgotten genie! Yeah, Barbara Eden did seem to really be something.
@@dannydougin3925 Agreed, that is a sexist remark. I don't know why you'd made it.
And great granddaughter of Ben Franklin? I'll bet her grandfather had interesting stories.

Yesterday was Aug. 23, 2021 BARBARA EDEN'S 90th BIRTHDAY!!!
💘❤💔💕💕💖💗💞💝🖤💜💛💚💙💟❣
Oh my...she was just to darn lovely.
Glad I grew up in the 70's & 80's.
If you were not around in at least the late 50s and 60s you missed the show.

Only the live show.
Here I am only now, seeing some of that lovely ladies work.
Thank you, Internet...!!!
Floyd the barber was always fun to watch. Great in Gunsmoke.
Never gets the girl.
... and Mayberry...

For me, Mr. Pidgeon will always be the King in Cinderella with Ginger Rogers as Queen, and Lesley Anne Warren as the dear title character.
Pure pleasure to watch.
10 foot high ceilings are not common on submarines
it's a movie set - back when movie sets were BIG
I did not notice!
As Barbara Eden commented in an interview on this film: high heels are also something of a rarity amongst submariners.

I should ever so love to frolic, in the garden of Eden. ♥️🌹
Check out my comment above in the comments section.
Met Barbara Eden purely by accident. You will not find a nicer person and even more beautiful in real life than TV. ❤
A beautiful!!😍 Lady; indeed;...
That was a great movie. I saw it once and would love to see it again.
2024, she's still kicking. 😊
"It all seems very gay and happy..." Anyone under 40 would be scratching their heads over that comment.

Another hijacked word.

She was SOMETHIN ELSE always WILL BE
They can’t have any fun can they? lol this was great. I’ve never seen Barbara and any other acting performance. Thanks for sharing.
Funny to see both Barbera Eden and Howard Mcnear were on the Andy Griffith show.
Lest we all forget--Mr. Avalon was quite a trumpeter.
That surprised me! Never knew that!
It was for real. right?
@@Thenogomogo-zo3un It absolutely was. He started out as a trumpet player in the early 1950s. Even played on the Jackie Gleason show when he was in his early teens.
Pretty impressive - and in heels to boot!
If I played a horn like that on a ship, those folks might be well entertained. Even Admiral Nimitz might have liked that music.
If i were Adam i would love to be in that garden ...Eden
I kept expecting Barbara to blink her fiance into a cage or something when he was scolding her before I realized he was her fiance.
My first crush 💘
I l❤ ved Barbara, Especially as Jeanie
I'm in love.
She sure knows how to get a guys attention.
All I have to do is dance like that and my husband will have me off my feet and carry me to the bedroom.
Sigh. Does he have an Available brother...?
👁️! Yi Yi. That's! The Finest! Kind of Any Movement I Have Ever Viewed! Really! Really!
Barbara Eden classic beauty.
Many years later, she saw the close-up of wiggling her rear to the camera (at 0:11), and sighed, "Oh dear, oh dear......".
Barbara's butt sure looked good too!
"The Captain" is just getting better acquainted with "The Boss Lady" is all!😂🎤💅👮♂️👮♀️🚢🌊👰💪🤵B.W.
Floyd needs to get back to the barbershop and let her keep dancing!
I love dancing and her black shoes and pantyhose in movie video
If she was single Iwould have used her rear end as a pillow. But then I was only 5 years old at that time in 1961 in NYC.
That opening scene is like a washing machine in heels 👠
It's always odd to see Floyd the barber under different circumstances.
Not splitting hairs are we? LOL
Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!! ,,
I Dream Of Barbara.
The scene for the Dad's taking kids to the Saturday matinee.
That submarine has a pretty big galley 😂
The incomparable Ms Eden! And I didn't know Floyd was a military man!
There was,an Admiral onboard my ship...he was pretty cool he would have allowed this party since they were off duty. This Admiral is a dead beat.
As a baby boomer born in the 1950s, I find that hard to believe.
"...and I suppose he's your barber congressman?"
I still dream of Jeannie.

I thought it was when he was on "I Dream of Jeannie", but they may have already been a couple then.
@patmcbride9853 I dream premiered in 64, voyage was released in 1961. So Michael and Barbara touch bases during the making of this film.
@@randyacuna5643 I saw on Wiki that they married in 1958.
@patmcbride9853 thanks for the Information. I wasn't aware of this .
:46 this is so far from gay it's funny. in fact I think her dance could cur gay. she's awesome.
I'm having flashbacks od Barbara Eden getting a job at Floyd's barber shop episode.
Barbara Eden and Howard McNear together..before or after they were both on the Andy Griffith show
Before,they were famous.
Good question. The Andy Griffith show they were both on was black-n-white and this is color.
That was on the film, not on the series.
Excellent example of why women should not serve ship board in the Navy.

That looked like Frankie Catalina...err I meant Frankie Avalon! (Frankie Catalina the Monkees 1967) haha!
Goddess ❤
They had so much talent on one submarine, but this movie just never worked for me. Thankfully for my childhood a cool Irwin Allen series came out of it.
She did this also in another movie
The one guy was Floyd the barber from the Andy Griffith Shoe and the trumpet player was Frankie Avalon!
Amazing recall. :)😂
Interesting that the submarine doesn't have any ladders or other complicated parts.
Is that Floyd the barber?
Correct. Actor Howard McNear, playing Congressman Llewellyn Parker, also played Floyd the barber on The Andy Griffith Show.
😲🤗😎
That's called fraternization. The C.O. should be relieved of command and force retired. A price all mortal men would happily pay.
Barbara Eden...when she was young and hot, she could have flipped the most ardent gay guy for good.
She got hotter as Jeanie
The Charleston :)
We'll discus this situation later! LOL

I don't remember this cast of Voyage to the bottom of the sea.
This was an earlier version. The other one previewed in 1964 on a weekly series.

Was that Gregory Peck? The Officer with the mustache?
I didn't see anyone who was gay, no queers present.

Yes, very gay
Gay used mean happy?
