@@pauljohnson6019 Of course for you it was Wimbledon 2019, because once again, your hero Federer lost and your vilan Djokovic won. But listen to the 2011 US Open semifinals press conference to how disrespectful Federer was towards Djokovic, comparing him with junior players. Not okay.
@ my point was that nadal created the template of pressuring Fed’s backhand with loopy topspin shots for other players to follow. Federer’s backhand didn’t really change much but he had to adapt to this tactic against him by changing to a larger racquet.
Fed took advantage of the weak era which was from 2001-2007. The 90s greats aged out and Nadal, Murray, Novak still too young. Fed was in what I call a transition period and he took advantage. Around this time players were transitioning to base line rallies and they weren’t natural base line players like post 2010 players.
I'm a Djokovic fan, and I don't even think that Federer BH is that beautiful compared to his other shots, but this statement is ridiculous, not to mention an insult to tennis as technical and aesthetic pleasure, and not just a sport. Even if you were right, what's the problem? If something is aesthetically beautiful it must and it will remember forever. btw "Form over function" a player with 100+ tournaments won including 20 slams? In reality it was not a nice looking shot at all. His upper body looks quite stiff while he's hitting the ball, like he has some kind of a spasm in the neck/shoulders area, his right shoulder is too high, shrugging almost, his head goes down too low, and his racket doesn't roll over the ball nicely, the impact is simple and not too fluid, also the follow through is constrained looking.
The most graceful player to ever inhabit a tennis court.
The 2011 US Open semifinals press conference says it differently: 40-15 😂😂😂
That would be Miloslav Mecir.

@@pacifist1360 Novak is no better, he's got a fat big ego.
These were the days, when the courts were fast enough to hit a winner off a dead ball
Federer's whole game was a work of art, the one-handed backhand is a thing of beauty though :)
sigh .... u are running paralel to my comments.
Stunning❤
2004-7 his backhand drive was amazing ,then 10 years not so great ,until Ljubičić started coaching him .
Players like nadal found a way to pressure his backhand. Plus he lost some speed around 2010 so he started slicing the backhand more.
@
Well,Nadal against Fed bh is one thing ,but his backhand in general was more powerful in early years of his reign.

@@piyapolphetmunee3879 Of course ,but not all the players hit with that much spin and still Rog’s bh was not the same ,at least not for me.
Yes, Fed's backhand was a work of art. A beautiful ice sculpture. Unfortunately, Rafa's forehand was a flamethrower.
Worth watching RF , ❤.
Seems to be a polarizing subject amongst the commenters.
You'd all have to agree that Federer made it work for him!
NOT really haters just saw a comment section low on numbers and figured it's an opportunity to hate, the shot was beautiful
Federer had a season with over 80 wins and only 4 losses...

RF came back in 2017 only to show he would dominate still ....
Federer who? No one would remember him. Literal definition of “form over function”. However, they’ll remember Djokovic forever.
