Dear Chad, thank you for this reminder. It is a comfort as it reminds me of where my beloved son David is right now! And I know your beloved son is as well. And we will someday join them! Praise be to his glorious name!
You really gave me a deepened insight into this reading. Today has been a blue day for me…I could use some prayers…and keep on sharing your insights into God’s Word…you were born to do this, Pastor Chad…God bless and hold you…
I think you raise a good point on the reading of “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” My one question I need cleared up is this. Jesus says that he will be with HIM in paradise, but as far as I know, traditional Christian doctrine teaches that Jesus descended into Hell when he died, not that he went to heaven. The apostles creed is a good example. So if Jesus wasn’t even in heaven that same day then how could the thief be there with him that same day?
Is this a point in fasting, to be remembered? Just as in taking holy Communion (eating and drinking)is to remember and so come into communion with our Lord, do we fast (not eating or drinking) to be set apart so as to be remembered by our Lord?
