I Wonder if anyone else has ever heard showers running just after you started your shower, while living in a apartment complex. Has anyone else noticed that even when you close your tub drain and put a drain stopper to keep the water in while you soak your feet, drain is still leaking out water. I noticed that even when I Did this, I noticed that I could hear water draining, even when I closed my drain and placed a drain stopper in my apartment tub it continued to allow water to drain. I live alone and I just wondered why this happens and if anyone else has experienced this problem before. Author Advocate, Activist for Humanity, Jason Sandifer, Michigan, 4/27/2023
Looks like a good idea. I'll do it in the future. Slowly unclogged a vanity sink, using Dawn and vinegar intermittently (alternating between the two). That undid the clog, but baking soda from time to time is an excellent idea. Acid and alkaline both dissolve grease.
Thank you Andrea, off to try this now!!!...America NEEDS kettles!...a kettle boils in minutes and Brits would be lost without them.!, do you have them yet?
The dawn, baking soda and vinegar used together is also good to clean up tough stains on carpet, I tried everything and found the hack on internet and i use nothing else for removing stains off carpet, it really works!
I had a bad smell coming from shower drain I opened the cover and put a long drain cleaner in there attached to a broom handle to get to bottom of drain, it was clogged with a bunch of my long hair, soap etc. I bought a drain cover /strainer online it's silicone it catches the hair. You can get different sizes suitable for kitchen sinks etc. I put bi carb soda(as it's known in Australia)and cleaning vinegar, it's stronger than regular vinegar. It keeps drains smelling clean.
I just want to say thank you! My bathroom sink has been clogged for days. I tried this process with the vinegar, baking soda, and hot water and oh my gosh!!!!! I let the sink run and run and run and it never filled up so I'm going to try the process again after buy some more vinegar but THANK you, THANK you THANK you!
The next step, if this ever this doesn't work, is one of those 'rose stem' looking things from the Dollar Tree. If it's a hair clog, those things will pull it right out. EZ to use.
After trying all your steps (see my comment below) I got an inexpensive "Drain Weasel" for bathtub drain and easy peasy it worked in a minute. I think your solution is good for food, not for hair,
Thank you!! If we’re doing the bathroom sink obviously there’s no garbage disposal, I’m assuming just skip that step? This was perfect timing since I was on the verge of pulling out the U pipe under the sink. I will be trying today as it will be waaayyy easier!
Back here in Melbourne, Australia on one of our A.M. Radio Station 3AW, they have a very popular cleaning segment with a super cool cleaning whiz called Shannon Lush who, just as you do on your fun channel, offers ingenious ways to clean and remove all kinds of stubborn stains, from all kinds of clothing fabrics, and household carpets, rugs, and timber floors, as well as curtain and drape fabrics, without damaging them. Listeners call in to the station with their cleaning problems and Shannon tells them how to fix their fabrics, without using harsh chemicals. It’s really cool. Baking Soda is such an amazing cleaning product too. Great video by the way. More please.See ya.👍🇦🇺🤪🌹🤩
Tried this twice. Helped a little. Finally tried to put salt down bathtub drain this morning but had to shove it in. Couldn't get soda down. I'll wait 24 hours.
I have a bad clog in My Bathroom Sink and nothing has worked. Not baking soda, vinegar, Dawn, every variation of drain openers, nothing works…..I’m at the point of having to take the pipes apart.
I boiled the water in my 8 qt instant pot. I had to do this method twice for bathtub drain and waiting 30 minutes each time. If this second try doesn’t work I’ll try the salt/baking soda trick tonight
I am so glad you do this! So many household things go wrong and you just happen to advertise the thing that went wrong!!! Like the clogged sink!!! Love love love You Andrea Jean❤️😊
You are correct, what blocks smells is the "P" trap. "S" traps where once installed back "in the day" but under certain conditions they actually suck sewer gas into the building. Cleaning, well some baking soda can help a bit raising the Ph and offering some scouring grit for a minute or two. If scouring is what you need borax is far better. General smells; baking soda, borax, and ground calcium[limestone] will work but takes time. All in all you have to know what your fighting against and what the source of the problem is.
You can clean n scrub with baking soda like the tub or sink to get it white. N can brush ur teeth with it thought it’s abrasive… for the left over fridge backings soda
First off, if you have plastic pipes, don't ever pour boiling water down your drain! Secondly, baking soda is alkaline while vinegar is acidic. If you mix them together, they cancel each other out. While you can get a little bit of cleaning done while the mixture bubbles, this is only mechanical because of the bubbles, not chemical in any fashion. You're much better off using either baking soda or vinegar separately, as they have a lot of good, strong cleaning power that way.
Secondly, baking soda is alkaline while vinegar is acidic. If you mix them together, they cancel each other out. Yep that's right First off, if you have plastic pipes, don't ever pour boiling water down your drain! You maybe right .... if the trap is plastic . I don't know the type AND it's a thinner gauge than PVC line so it could melt ... and the pvc can take the heat of boiled water ... ever use a torch to melt it for a bend - lot hotter than hot water
I realize this comment is a year old, but I have a genuine question. What’s the difference between pouring boiling hot water down there and when you drain your pot of noodles and pour boiling hot water down the drain?
I tried this, and did did the over night method and I got up in the morning and put two cups of boiling water into it and after a half hour my sink will not drain at all. I put in the comments below I did the process again and I’m getting good results infact I just checked it and it’s fully drained. It just took the overnight method and a second regular method and that’s the ticket. Again, I’m sorry for jumpin the gun the firs time. I should be lashed.
@@AndreaJean I actually did the process all over again and used the last of the supplies I had and it started to go down quite a bit! So it’s working I just need to keep at it. I’m sorry I didn’t try this before I wrote the first comment. I should be reported for sure! 😞 But I am sorry for jumpin the gun. And maybe my baking soda was out dated if that makes a difference. But thank you for the comment and the U-Tube post.
@chocoboasylum....sometimes that gurgling noise is because one of the drains in a nearby bathroom or kitchen or garage is clogged. ..gurgling noises and backing up in another sink or tub nearby...
Any ideas on sink running into dishwasher and it not draining? My maintaince team at complex is useless when they do come and we have work orders over 3 months old so they will not come to fix it. I tried plunging, running disposal and now i have green gobbler in there- debating doing it overnight but also have dishes stacked up
If baking soda didn't do it salt will not either. If it's hair only snaking the drain and pulling it out will help. What your being shown is drain *maintenance*. Nothing works better, short of a rod, jet, or snake, than a dutch oven filled with water brought to a boil with a degreaser eg.simple green, 409, poured in first.
Hmmmm, just tried cup of salt, cup baking soda, dish soap, 3 cups of vinegar, 3 cups of bleach, and some generic drain cleaner in my main drain. I'll let it sit for 24 hours and flush with hot water. Snake tomorrow?????
The clog must be pipe that connects to dishwasher. Disposal does not work. Ongoing problem w/ disposal & I rarely use it. Irritating because I live in apartment & don't have tools for loosening pipes.

I’ve been using white vinegar & baking soda for years on our carpet stains , black coffee , dog throw up , grape juice , etc. w/ great success !
Your pour vinegar and baking soda on your carpet? How do you remove the vinegar smell ? Do you vaccum the baking soda once you're done cleaning?
Looks like a good idea. I'll do it in the future. Slowly unclogged a vanity sink, using Dawn and vinegar intermittently (alternating between the two). That undid the clog, but baking soda from time to time is an excellent idea. Acid and alkaline both dissolve grease.
I have always used baking soda and vinegar in my drains and then pour hot water behind it . It cleans the crud out of them .
IKR? What else wd you ever use?
What's
Don't use boiling water on pvc pipes! You should use hot tap water! Thank you for info!

After trying all your steps (see my comment below) I got an inexpensive "Drain Weasel" for bathtub drain and easy peasy it worked in a minute. I think your solution is good for food, not for hair,
Technically that's four ingredients... But it works so thank you.

Wow this is the first I’ve used baking soda for something besides cooking up coke. 😉🤣 I hope it works.
1 ingredient - Baking Soda ...plus Dawn dish soap & vinegar 😄

baking soda can be put in the cat box for odours
Thanks this works great.350 afternoon.

Thank you. I just bought a new box!
And I keep the rest. Dawn and Vinger.

Everybody swears by baking soda for cleaning or reducing smells. I have tried it numerous times and it has never worked once.
You are correct, what blocks smells is the "P" trap. "S" traps where once installed back "in the day" but under certain conditions they actually suck sewer gas into the building.

I'm with you...it doesn't work
Agreed just because it bubbles when mixed with vinegar doesn't mean it is powerful.
You need to use some distilled white vinegar with that let it sit for a while
pour clorox down drain !
Thank you
Someone said using boiling hot water for the bathtub can ruin your pipes. Is this true?
You can clean n scrub with baking soda like the tub or sink to get it white. N can brush ur teeth with it thought it’s abrasive… for the left over fridge backings soda
Nice nail polish!
All great idea thanks! Bowling water in your kettle would be quicker!
Have used some of these ideas before!!
Great job!
Icecubbes and baking soda in the disposal. Will clean all the residue really well.
Thank you😊

Is Dawn dish soap really any different then any other soap? Why is it recommended SO often?
Thank U thank, I understand "momma" is busy with those kids, lolll
GIRL THANK YOU :D
When using salt and soda do you also ad vinegar?
I was looking for this comment. Thought I was the only one. Help!

I’m thinking this could be used on toilets too cause the ingredients wouldn’t hurt the wax ring. But she might have a better way of doing that.
Thanks so much!
Thanks Vivian!
I liked this, but don't forget that boiling water in an open pan is super dangerous. I feel a kettle would be better.
Great video thanks for sharing , my last blockage I had to use the Kirby to unblock it as it wasn’t budging .👌👌
I tried my Kirby but it didn’t work.
Does baking soda, vinegar, hot water unclog the bathtub if hair as well?
Yes 👍
How do i do this with a bathroom sink drain? Ive done the snake
Hi! Do you have a link to the snake? I need it for my tub. Thank you!
Dollar tree
@@wendyjohnson1128 they sell at most dollar stores
Hadn't tried adding dish soap yet. Tried the other steps but the bathtub still backs up and the drain makes gurgling sounds.

What is dawn? Is it soap?
Washing up liquid . In the US they call it dish soap & the biggest brand is Dawn.
Would like to know what the polish is on your nails. Love pink!
How do you not have an electric kettle? Don't you drink tea or coffee?
Excellent procedure.
The only thing a bathroom sink might have is HAIR and that plastic device might not get everything, but still good information.
what if the clogged sink has STANDING WATER ?
Mini plunger?
A gas stove is going to heat water a lot faster than a microwave
If you need heated water fast, just put a lid on the pot you're using on the stove.
Well it depends on the microwave actually
That doesn’t always work. Even with vinegar. I have done it 5 times I haven’t tried salt yet .

It's for a rack.
Oh your so cute ! Have you heard of Drano ?

Nice looking hands !
