Super Mario 64. The versatility in Mario's movement options and how they just feel to control is something that always makes me come back to it. Odyssey also brought a lot of this back which almost ties the two games for me.
The reason why people are mad about not being able to play as Yellow and Blue Toad at the same time anymore is because in a full group of 4 players, at least one person has to be one of the Easy Characters, and in Luigi U, two players have to be the Easy Characters. There's really no reason why we couldn't have both. There's also no reason why turning off the annoying "Tap Jump To Spin" Feature has to be a secret on the title screen instead of an option in the controls menu.
@@dockingwater1713 Saying that Deluxe has no improvements though would be blatantly false. It's more like 1 Step Forward, 1.5 Steps Back. On one hand, we get a new character that's actually unique, and the ability to play as any character you want in single player, including Nabbit in New Super Mario Bros. I like how you glossed over the fact that Blue toad is still forced to be third player, and the fourth player always has to be a easy mode character. That was the actual controversy, cmon Jirad.
To be fair though, Jiard works really hard trying to complete these episodes and thats not even counting behind the scenes stuff like writing scripts or editing. He might have only read or watched a basic summary of the issue but not look in-depth due to his busy work schedule. I hear you though, it might not be the biggest deal in the world but Nintendo should have at least given you the option to swap the fourth characters out with a red toad or something. To me though, the biggest deal is that the game seems marginally WORSE than on the Wii U - better graphics not withstanding - and they made the controls slightly worse. I'd recommend you get the Wii U version instead if you can, personally.
It's entirely up to you whether you want to be in easy mode or not with Toadette, it's completely your choice. Without the Peach crown powerup, she's identical to Yellow and blue toad. So it's weird everyone complaining that one player is forced to be in easy mode when that's literally not true. It's entirely down to the player. And the peach crown doesn't move about like the mushroom so you won't accidentally run into it, if you don't want "easy mode" (which doesn't make the game that much easier anyway, it's basically the same as the acorn squirrel powerup, just a pink version, and you lose it in one hit exactly the same way), then don't get it. Simple.
@@tanookijumpman1139 I already had it on Wii U, so it's no problem for me, I just dislike how he glossed over the controversy and made it seem more trivial then it really was.
Well it's two games in one, one of which was $60 on its own originally, so it makes sense. Considering nobody had a Wii U, it makes sense for them to sell it for this price, and considering the enormous sales of it, it's paid off for them.
@jesus barrera if a game is released on a separate disk where you don't need the original to play it, and it's as long as the original game, does it really count as "DLC"? Maybe you're right. I mean I do partially agree, it maybe could have been like $40. But I bought this and Mario Oddysey around the same time for the same price, and I prefer this to Oddysey (though that's still a great game too), so to me in my head it makes sense, I've payed for an experience that's better than what I could get for the same price. But you're right, Nintendo have some of the craziest pricing structures of any game company. They basically never discount games. I've heard the Wii U was basically still full price right up to the end. I've never owned a Nintendo console though so I'm just enjoying even being able to play these franchises properly for the first time. And to me, paying £50 once for a game is _significantly_ better than say the new call of duty black ops, which is like $60 for the base game, then the basically required season pass and battle pass are like $50 dollars each, and then microtransactions on top of that. Compared to Activision or EA or Take 2 or Ubisoft or Konami, Nintendos pricing structure is the best of the AAA games devs. But yeah pretty much every single great indie dev is a lot better than Nintendo and any of them. Like Shovel Knights two free DLC which are basically entirely new games themselves, and a third new free one coming out this year which is also a full new game.
To be honest, you can technically save whenever you want by using the "Quick Save" item on the pause menu. It basically saves the state of the game and sends you back to the main menu. Once you go back into the game, the save state is lost, though.
If you click and hold the left stick for about 3 seconds on the title screen and then press L and R while still holding down the stick, you can disable the spin jump on the jump button.
For the record Jirard, it is possible to disable mid air jump on the a and b button by holding the left stick on the title screen for a few seconds and pressing L and R. Should hear Nabbit's cry after that. Not sure why Nintendo hid this feature like that or hid it from fans but it's there.
Whether you love or hate the "Bowsette" meme, am I the only one annoyed by the name? Toadette gets the Royal Crown - the "Peach" influence - and becomes Peachette. So it shouldn't be Bowsette unless he's just getting Toadette's 'shroom hair. XP It'd be Peach-er, Peach-ard, Peach... well, you get the idea. Actually two ideas; that people are bad at following naming schemes *and* I need to get a life. XD
@@skylanderking7645 I agree with the idea people tend to favor what sounds good over what better communicates the idea but I wouldn't say that either option sounds all that great. Internet, I am disappoint. ;)
well you yourself just demonstrated that there isn't a good sounding way to give her a name that actually makes sense, so instead they gave her a name that sounds good and still communicates the idea. Kinda like when they made Sonic's "Werehog" form, despite the first half of werewolf referring to the human part instead of the wolf part.
05:55 .. Actually: The Starry night background theme is based on Vincent van Gogh paintings. He was a Dutch painter in the 19th century who created postimpressionisme (the style of his paintings and the games background) He was also famous for becoming deranged and cutting of his own ear.
You referred to the Almighty Buckenberry Toad as blue toad?? Disgraceful, never refer to him as Blue Toad again only as Buckenberry Toad. Respect the name of Buckenberry Toad!!
Anybody else notice the Donkey Kong flair hidden in the music of this, and the No More Heroes video? It'll play the games main theme, but then break out into parts of Kongo Jungle
I really would have preferred that this be a collection of all the NSMB games on the Wii U engine. The mechanics are very similar between games, with the differences being in the power ups and tweaks for different platforms. All four games could be multiplayer, and some new challenge levels could be introduced that combine the gimmicks of all four games. That kind of thing would truly be worth $60. This game? One which gets rid of the option to have 4 players all on an equal level and messing up the controls while not adding a whole lot in return? I’d go $40. MK8 Deluxe earned the Deluxe mantra because it added a really good battle mode and new characters on its own and bundled in all of the previously separate DLC.
wow that was fast! also, im digging the small DKC-mashups on the main themes ...wait since the Crown turns you into a Peach, wouldn't be the Peachpletionist crew then?

3:28 the day when mario got his ankles broken by a rabbit. Get absolutely destroyed mario...
This game should not be 60 dollars.
just wait for the link awakening remastered... Wonder what price tag this will get
A lot of Nintendo games now shouldn't still be $60
@@thefriendlyneighborhoodspi3748knowing Nintendo its probably $60 and it's not a remaster it's a remake.

This is my favorite 2D mario game
5:55- starry night was painted by Van Gogh
5:57 or van Gogh
That Year of Luigi shoutout gives me hope for a Luigi's Mansion 2 review.
This game is
definitely not overpriced
It was Van Gogh that painted Starry Night. :O
Guys, when u beat the game… you get a basic gameplay feature!
It's styled after Super Mario World and it makes the game more difficult.
I’m liking your new thumbnails because they feature more of Jirard’s mini, rather than just slapping a beard on the main protagonist.
5:54 Oh please tell me that's a joke...
I can't tell so I'm gonna go ahead and inform you that it's Vincent Van Gogh.
XP
It'd be Peach-er, Peach-ard, Peach... well, you get the idea. Actually two ideas; that people are bad at following naming schemes *and* I need to get a life. XD
Bowsette sounds better than Peacher, and people tend to go with the one that sounds better.
@@skylanderking7645 I agree with the idea people tend to favor what sounds good over what better communicates the idea but I wouldn't say that either option sounds all that great. Internet, I am disappoint. ;)
You could say she was a real Beach, get it? Cause she's always depicted as being a bitch to Peach.
I personally named her queen bowstool, and it kinda stuck with me ever since, but hey, if bowsette sounds better, then kudos to you guys
well you yourself just demonstrated that there isn't a good sounding way to give her a name that actually makes sense, so instead they gave her a name that sounds good and still communicates the idea. Kinda like when they made Sonic's "Werehog" form, despite the first half of werewolf referring to the human part instead of the wolf part.
The music tracks you choose in the video are the best in my opinion
The 32 dislikes are those who already made name-ette fan art and are disappointed that you don’t want to be sent them
05:55 .. Actually: The Starry night background theme is based on Vincent van Gogh paintings.
He was a Dutch painter in the 19th century who created postimpressionisme (the style of his paintings and the games background)
He was also famous for becoming deranged and cutting of his own ear.
Gonna complete the Mario all stars pack
nice video as always aaaaaaaaand here come all the fan art of the beard bros team as beardette XD
5:56 highkey Van Gough inspired background but references other artists instead...
Watching your videos really brighten my day
2:01 My boy Dashie!!
Does anyone know what video that is??
I knew it was Dashie! Im surprised no one else is pointing it out.
I mean the backgrounds are nice but tropical freeze is a no brain winner with its background art
You referred to the Almighty Buckenberry Toad as blue toad?? Disgraceful, never refer to him as Blue Toad again only as Buckenberry Toad. Respect the name of Buckenberry Toad!!
BUCKENBERRY TOAD IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT CAN DEFEAT SHAGGY!!!!!!!
Too few have heard the Truth, you're doing the lord's work telling the world of Buckenberry Toad
ala gold is better then buckenberry

Anybody else notice the Donkey Kong flair hidden in the music of this, and the No More Heroes video? It'll play the games main theme, but then break out into parts of Kongo Jungle
You've got a good ear! I am the one responsible for those sneaky little themes ;)

WELCOME BACK TO SUP, SUP MARIO MAKER WELCOME BACK TO SUP!
I don’t understand why anyone would choose this game over Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
Because tropical freeze is very hard. Some people Just want a chill experience, ya know.
Beach will never die. Yes I still think the worst part of Bowsette is she isn't called Beach! It makes more sense!
Bowsette on big bad bosses or I’ll cry lmao
the art at 5:50 is from Van Gogh
I’ve always been a Luigi man
I really would have preferred that this be a collection of all the NSMB games on the Wii U engine.
Can you please do Uncharted 4 Completionist?
If you hold down the left analogue stick during the start screen and press L + R, the spin jump will be remapped to the ZR trigger like normal.
Im sending fan art
