I've gotta try the all purpose pomade. I've been loving low-medium shine pomades lately. Lately my go to post styler has been Crystal Lake but I'm thinking this one will give a similar finish with a better hold.
@@TDMStyle Crystal Lake for my hair type gives what I'd consider a medium hold. On my more casual days I'll use just that but on the days I want the style to last I'll prestyle with Pregame for some added hold.
Thanks bro. I've almost bought pink one this time, just to check whether it gives better hold than the all-purpose one. I'mma stay with the green one though. Your video made it much easier to understand and to SEE how they all work. Appreciate the effort! Best luck man!
I love pomades because my hair is super poofy and afro like. It waves in the shaft and curls on the ends... Definitely need a heavy hold in my pomades!
Hi Matt, I know this video is from a few years ago, but was wondering if you felt that the texturizing clay was more suited for thick hair as opposed to thin to medium hair. Hope summer is treating you well.
Is your clay pomade waxy at all? I've found that my jar started off pretty waxy on the top layer (as in application and finish, not scoop-wise). And even now after that top layer, my hair will look a bit oily/shiny on second-hair day when applying more product, unless I shampoo it beforehand. Otherwise, I absolutely love the product, especially on freshly cleaned hair, and I've found the hold to be very solid. It's strong, but doesn't weigh down your hair. Now to look into that texturizing clay ~
Oh my god Matt, Clay Pomade looked amazing in your hair. I think that of the three I would keep the Clay Pomade because I have the same characteristics of your hair and you looked amazing. Great video as always!
The clay pomade looks fine, like a lot of other clay pomades. The All purpose was a nice look on you. Texturizing clay doesn't look like it has much of an effect at all, would probably just go for sea salt spray instead. Overall, I don't really understand the hype around Firsthand right now.
I forgot to mention it in the video, but all the products are very user friendly - easy to scoop, breakdown and apply, and they're very responsive. I think some of the hype is probably just because of the hold recent rebrand with new packaging etc.
I found the clay pomade to be too greasy in my hair after a few hours. I wasn’t a huge fan. I did like the texturizing clay. It performed well for my hair type and never became greasy or lost its hold. The pomade I didn’t like at all... Overall, not my favorites.
I said mostly with water for a reason. I didn't say "washes out completely with just water." That means there is a little bit left that will need shampoo... which I suppose I should have stated in that cutaway. I just didn't want it to be too much text. Sorry for the confusion.
@@TDMStyle I know you didn't say completely you said mostly. But I don't know man in my opinion and the opinion of many other there is a lot of residue when rinsing with water not just a little bit. But I guess it depends on how much you use. I use 2-3 scoops.
Blonde or light brown highlights are always a good way to start and see what you like! Also definitely ask your stylist what would work well with your skin tone.
Not really planning on it tbh. It bugs me that Aaron still calls them his "secret sauce" even though they've been proven to be white label and the same formula as several other brands, so to be real I'm not really into giving them my money lol
Which one is the dryest of the three? Or rather, which one would be closest in performance to O’douds MP? I have the texture clay and am still testing it. So far, it can’t touch O’douds or Arcadian..my main staples. Struck me how well those 2 work when seeing how this one falls a bit short, for me at least. Feels similar in the palm but once in the hair is when it reveals itself.
@@TDMStyle interesting I’ll have to check it out.. yes O’douds MP is pretty dry! Trying 90 proof Blind Barber right now for second time & it’s the shit if you use it right..crazy volume👌First time was painful🙀😂
I have the same hairstyle that you have, which type of hair product do you recommend me? Pomade, serum, etc? (For a natural style) Greetings from Ecuador! 🇪🇨
I mean there are literally tons to choose from - but if you're going for a loose, flowey style, I'd recommend something with a lighter or medium hold. The texturizing clay from this video would probably work well for you! And as far as prestyling, I personally always like to use some type of smoothing solution like a serum or leave-in spray, since I have a coarse wavy hair type and they help to smooth it out and de-frizz, which makes styling easier. Hope this helps!
Variable hold yes, and I haven't found it to get greasy at all. Haven't used it as a prestyler though - I don't typically use clays in that way so I haven't tried it tbh.
You should do some research and learn what "sponsored" means. By FTC regulations, if a video is sponsored, it MUST be disclosed in a very clear way. This isn't a sponsored video. As I said in the video and description, yes, I was sent products to test. But everything about said products and my _opinions_ on them, are up to me. The clay pomade is fantastic product, very happy with it

I haven't tried Crystal Lake yet myself, but this one was definitely quite the strong hold!

Interesting! I don’t find mine waxy, but it does gain some shine on day 2.

I liked this video and then unliked it so I could like it again. That pomade looks awesome
Cheers Sam! It's definitely a goodie.
should i get the first hand texturing clay or hustle clay. I have the very similar wavy hair texture you as you
Both are great options. Personally I prefer Hustle to the Firsthand texture clay in terms of performance.
TDM Style thank you !
Such a great review man 👊🏼
Thanks!
“Bitch sit tf down”😂😂😂I was dead 💀 😂
Hi Matt! Could you name some other matte clays or pastes that have the same scoop as Firsthand Supply Clay Pomade.. So like an airy cloud?

This versus Fifth Sample by Blumann? Taking especially health benefits in mind.
Love the work u put in ur videos!
Thanks! I haven't tried Fifth Sample yet, but I've had a lot of requests for it, so it's on my to-do list to check out.
@@TDMStyle Yes please. Thanks for the answer :)
Nice video and u r looking great bro...

They definitely don't wash out mostly with water guys that's not true except for the clay. The clay pomade and uwb 100% need shampoo

What highlights would look good on brown skin(Indian skin tone)
Thank you

I really love the pomade. I do not agree with the opinion on the scent. I really hate it. If you can get past the lavender scent. The product is Great
Great review my brotha....👍
Thanks man!
Do you know how the clay pomade compares to the Flagship gold edition? They both seem like they’re lightweight, and firm hold.
I haven't tried Flagship gold, so I can't really say on that one. Sorry!
So if you had to choose Salon Guys Clutch Clay or the Firsthand Clay pomade? Great vids by the way!
Firsthand definitely much better.
They’re very different from one another - Clutch is waxier and Firsthand is a little drier. Hard to say, I like them both!
Are u gonna do Pete and Pedro products ?

Pomade newbie here, do you need to warm up the pomade like with clay?
Yeah, you want to warm it up in your hands for easier application
Definitely. Almost all hair stylers you want to warm up and emulsify first.
Ofc? 😂
Tonaldo “Newbie” Smartass
What's the strongest hold clay or pomade you have tried?
Hard to say, tried lots of really strong ones. Right now though it might be Oasis from Templeton Tonics - shit is off the chain strong
Is the clay pomade as matte as O’Douds matte paste or Oasis clay?
Unfortunately I haven’t tried either of those yet, so I can’t really say. Sorry!
Which is do you prefer, their pomade or dauntless pomade?
Firsthand
@@TDMStyle thankyou.. God bless 🙏🏼
Is it normal if couple of hair strands fall off when styling ?
It sure is.
You said kaolin correctly!! Great video btw
Thanks!
are this products are better than stickmore?
I wouldn’t say better, just different

Hii bro
is the clay pomade stronger than cavalier clay?
I don’t know about stronger, but it’s definitely much lighter and far less oily.
@@TDMStyle ooo, ok thanks
@@TDMStyle would you say the clay pomade has a variable hold without getting greasy? also is it good as a pre-styler? thx
