    I enjoyed this. I want to encourage all homemakers to think about the life you are creating for your family, who may not even realize all you do. I grew up in a really dirty home. My mom hated cleaning and organizing. It wasn’t personal toward me but I felt unloved because it affected my daily life so much. I longed for a clean organized home that I could look forward to coming home to. Don’t underestimate the home you are creating for your family and even for yourself if you live alone. You are worth. They are worth it❤️

      Lisa, I read this and struggled with it because there was a time I was unable to keep my house tidy and organized due to an illness. My sons keep their rooms impecable. I wonder if they too blame me, when I really was trying my best.

    • @megroux
      @megroux 4 года назад +10

      Liz Feola My mother suffered illness,for a period of time, as well. I never felt unloved because of her untidiness. I saw her struggle to provide normal for us. We appreciated it and strived to help. What helps is to not have the anger or resentment of not being able to do all that you used to do, during a time like this. Open, honest conversation and gratitude for the help received goes a long way.

    This fills me with a warm happy glow of contentment. Your phrase “delight in the mundane” hit me like a brick about a year ago and has completely shifted my attitude. I truly delight in it now. I delight in the feeling of warm cloth as I fold laundry, the sheen of a clean counter, the smell of bread in the oven, the strange satisfaction in seeing dirt disappear into the vacuum. All of it delights me and fills me with calm content...99.8 percent of the time!
    Congrats on your feature in the magazine! That is so exciting and I could just feel your sense of awe.

    I mentioned this before that I am perhaps on the slightly younger end of your viewers at the age of 30, however I’ve always been a bit of an old soul, who sees and highly values the art of home making. I am aware that yes it’s not the only thing women can do, but the choice, is still noble, and beautiful. The fact that this channel and your multiple other works have brought together the army that is all who want to enjoy living even in our homes. Happy holidays to you and yours.

    • @julialee143
      @julialee143 4 года назад +3

      I agree and I am 24! I’m definitely an old soul. My mom also left me and my siblings when I was 15 and since then I have always found great female examples in real life and in RUclips like Jennifer to look up to. I’ve learned so much by becoming a student of wiser, more mature women. I can’t relate to the people who are technically my age on RUclips, just a whole different life stage and perspective than mine.

    Hi Jennifer. Your commentary on the sounds...it made think of a story I heard once where a homemaker always had to tell the children not to let the screen door slam as they ran out of the house. Years went by and this was a never ending battle. One day she noticed the screen didn't slam. She looked around the house was empty. The children had gone to college and she longed to hear that screen door slam. It meant the children were there, it was full of life and energy and now its stillness. So even if something is annoying to us it becomes apart of our story. Woven into our lives all these little things. There is something soothing that happens. Maybe that's why ASMR videos are so popular these days😊🌷💕

    “To love what you do...not just do what you love...that is the business of bliss.”
    This has been my full-time homekeeping mantra for:
    Almost 35 years of marriage.

    11 grandchildren.
    Thank you for being a beautiful light in a dark world. For promoting excellence, gracious living, and finding joy in the everyday...EVERY DAY.

    I very much enjoyed your video Jennifer! I am a private certified Nursing Assistant. I started at 15 being a companion to a chaplain`s wife who had early onset dementia! Of course I went through the rigors of training and keep up todate BUT!.... I can honestly say the I feel the Lord`s pleasure when I am taking care of these dear elders:) I coined this expression from that classic movie`Chariots of Fire`` when Eric Little said that he felt God`s pleasure when he ran! Bliss or Pleasure it is such a blessing to find what you feel called to do...of course through the ups and downs and yes even the mundane! Blessings on your family this unique Chistmas! xo

    Congrats on your Victoria feature!! I have so many copies dating back to the 80's! As a teen in the 90's I subscribed and my mom found back issues at tag sales. Love Victoria! Business of Bliss. I own a tree company. Yes, me, a woman. It can be hard to be a business of Bliss in a hard labor man's world, but I intend to do so. Yes, I work in the field. I wear a hard hat. I drag brush and run a woodchipper and dump truck, but that doesn't mean I have to do it without bliss, grace, or feminine beauty.

    I've spent the season of Advent and preparing for 2021 focusing on living more intentionally, savoring the "small things" which, as we know, aren't really small. Hi from England. A few years ago before I retired and when mobile phones weren't as prevalent as they are now, I had a job where I was stuck in traffic most days. I used this time as 'me' time, I sat in the car and relaxed and thought. I could never understand why people were so stressed in their cars, there was nothing that we could do about it, so like you, I just made the most of it. Thanks for doing these videos.

    The calmness of your actions brought peace to your home as you refreshed your home; the candlelight in the kitchen gave a soft light to your tasks which reflected that you truly love "what you do" in a blissful manner and you are blessing your home by ironing those placemats, cleaning up the kitchen after a long day, resetting the home for the next day's activities. Your thought process during a mundane task brings about a new challenge and adventure within your blissful life. I enjoyed this video and in the year 2020, we needed the soft glow of candles, reflection of life itself and what makes us happy every day.

    Thank you for this lovely and peaceful meditation. I also find that when I focus on the pleasant feelings of the most unpleasant tasks, they take on a different dimension, and I can think more freely. The feeling of warm water on my hands as I clean the dishes, the smell of the clean laundry as I iron the clothes, the overall contentment of caring for my home. This comes after years of fighting against a deep-seated hatred for any chore: the moment I realized I was hurting myself by not taking care of my home, my outlook totally changed. We need these gentle reminders, thanks for providing them so graciously.

    Congratulations! So wonderful to be recognized professionally for what you are doing. Thank you for a wonderful, sweet video. Learning to be content in the small things of life is one of the must rewarding things we can do. To para phrase Oswald Chambers: we don't become spiritually mature through the mountain top experiences in life. We become mature in the midst of the daily and the mundane. Those are the experiences that build character and bring us closer to God.

    Congratulations Jennifer for being featured in the Victoria magazine! It is an achievement indeed. Loved this video presentation. The tea-cozy on your kitchen counter top made me smile.......what a rare thing to see in an American kitchen! I myself own a lovely one which I use only once in a while. I’m originally from Bangladesh where people are tea drinkers. So I grew up seeing a tea-cozy in most households. Women even used to make hand embroidered covers for them. And when guests arrived for tea, that embroidery on the tea-cozy itself was a topic of conversation. But that was long time ago ........

    I agree with you about the joy in repetitive tasks, Jennifer. I love the ones that produce noise; running the sweeper, cutting the grass. These moments cover the world in a temporary veil. They allow my mind to roam wherever it choses. They release my creativity send me on mini vacations. I also love the tasks done in silence, inviting me to be more intentional and putting me into a restful state of mind. Thank you for this lovely video. Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family!

    The January issue has always been my favorite! They couldn’t have chosen a better lady to exemplify “bliss”! You have definitely conveyed to me, and I know to your other subscribers, that homemaking can be a lovely endeavor. One in which we can all achieve success, even though that success is different for everyone! The mindset is key! Congratulations on the January issue! What an honor! Merry Christmas to you and your family!🥰

    This was so very beautiful and peaceful.
    I love the simplicity and real ness of everyday life. As I grow older I tire more easily in the evenings and almost dread a few tasks that have to be done at night.
    This will help me to look at this differently and maybe even rearrange some things in order to have bliss💕 thank you!

    Congratulations on your feature article, that is such an amazing accomplishment. I adore your sweater you are wearing. I have never been much of a sweater person myself, but it is because I find them constricting and I get overheated easily. I think a baggy sweater with slits on the side like this may just be what I need to look for.

    I have been having stressful times, and resent very much my housework. Thank you for this video: I am back to it with a peaceful heart and then I go back to my work with another mindset.

    Congratulations Jennifer! It really is every little moment that makes up the entirety of our lives. If we add up how much time the "mundane" tasks take and we don't appreciate them, that's a huge part of our lives that we are disliking. It really is a shift of mindset that can make all the difference. My question for you andmaybe a future video idea: teaching our kids the importance of helping out at home. My daughters are 11 and 14 and they do their chores, but not without a struggle....every day.

    You’re one of the first RUclips videos I started watching, ever, this spring. Between the beautiful music and your soothing narrative, I’ve been a fan since. I started enjoying housekeeping for the first time ever. I’m 60. Changing your perspective does help everything! Congratulations on the Victoria Bliss magazine spot. Merry Christmas!
