Lara said this is her favorite duet. She was very nervous because it was performance on Stade de France (national stadium in France in Paris) in front of 80.000 people and Johnny is legend in France. She said touching him made her less nervous so she was all over him lol PS lyrics give a sort of Bonnie and Clayde impression
A bit of context: in 1998, Johnny Hallyday was well established as a french rock'n roll icon. A stage beast, known for leaving it all on the scene for his audience. Lara's career was blossoming in France. They met, and performed this song, during a tv early 1998 if memory serves. After the show, according to Lara, Johnny came to see her and told her "You're doing the Stade (de France, the arena where this is filmed) with me". Romanced by Lara or actual words, who knows... Fast forward to September 1998 and this series of concerts (I think they did that duet twice at the Stade de France, but I could be wrong). The original song was pretty powerful to start with due to its theme and its lyrics. Add Johnny Hallyday's performance on stage. Add an orchestra and a choir. Then top it off with a blooming Lara (she was a stage freak back then, not holding her voice back, which drew criticism from the music industry ironically). And voila! Now, as to whether Lara was falling for Johnny (and vice versa): I know that Lara admitted being impressed by the charismatic artist that Johnny was, and that once she looked into his eyes (he had pretty colored eyes admittedly), she kind of melted. But, as far as I know, back then, she was in a relationship, albeit a brief one, with a french singer, Patrick Fiori. So, admiration, respect, sensuality, attraction even maybe? Sure. But that probably stopped there I'd say. Also, Lara mentioned that Johnny actually let her own the stage during these performances. He never tried to overpower her because he was the senior one, the established artist. He gave her a hand, he propped her up artistically speaking so she could rise to the occasion. That's also why Lara had a genuine affection for Johnny.
Well, as a matter of fact the attraction was pretty much mutual even tho Johnny was in the 2nd year of his 5th (and final marriage) to a 22 yrs old gold digger and Lara just started seeing a french singer who's name I refuse to type down. Johnny was 55 and Lara was 28 and whenever they shared space sparks flew and yes, Johnny told Lara that she will sing with him at the Stade de France. I don't know if Lara and Johnny ever acted on their obvious chemistry, but what I know for sure is that his wife got hysterical when Johnny mentioned that he would like to take Lara on his next tour. There was only one other woman of whom she got this hysterical about and that was Sylvie Vartan, Johnny's ex and the love of his life. After this concert Lara and Johnny sang together only twice a few years later when Lara was single at the time.. As the story goes the wife didn't know about it, because by Johnny's personal request Lara flew in to sing one single song with him, his most famous love song : Derriere L'Amour. If you know the lyrics, you should know what that means if you don't know the words here's the translation. lyricstranslate.com/en/derrière-lamour-behind-love.html

Also, Johnny told Lara to “bring her ‘A’ game” and laughed.)

And lower your pointed guns
No I won't fly away without her
(here, there is a play of word. because "her", in french is "Elle" and it sound like "Ailes" that means "wings", so you can translate "no I won't fly away without her/without wings)
Tell the priest, tell the pastor
That elsewhere they go and be hanged
The devil came by early
And my soul is no longer for sale
If you leave me tonight
At dawn I'll give you my life
What would my life be for me without her
[Chorus] Johnny And Lara
I was just a fool but for love
She made me crazy, crazy with love
My sky was her eyes, her mouth
My life was her body, her body
I loved her so much that to keep her I killed her
So that a great love always lives
He must die he die of love
Johnny And Lara
The day rises the night turns pale
Hunters and dogs are hungry
It's time to ring the hallali
The beast must die this morning
I'll open the shutters wide
Poke my heart i'm ready
I want to fall asleep forever near her
[Chorus] Johnny And Lara
I was just a fool but for love
She made me crazy, crazy with love
My sky was her eyes, her mouth
My life was her body, her body
I loved her so much that to keep her I killed her
I'm just a madman, mad about love
A poor fool who dies
Who dies of love
Thank you for this! It's awesome!

Actually, while Johnny's dad was Belgian, Johnny was born in Paris, in the 9th arrondissement. Not that his dad left him much more than his actual last name, Smet, leaving the family mere months after he was born.
@@ohauss thank you for correcting me.wish you a nice ending of 2020

I hear you on that. Thank you. My channel is 95% Lara and Dimash, so it has been a very easy trap to fall into. I will do my best to avoid that in the future.
