Lara's microphone sound was at maximum (it resonated..) and Johnny's was lower.. It was Johnny who asked for it to be done like that. Lara was his guest at the Stade de France and he wanted her to demonstrate her vocal power and shine. Lara herself confirmed it. Johnny in all his generosity... Know that Johnny was a vocal power too but on this last interpretation he did not want because it was done on purpose, Johnny was very intelligent in doing that to make the song more dramatic and show their acting on this magnificent song that belongs to him. The desired goal was the dramatic side of the singing all in power but less than Lara (Johnny) with at the same time next to him a more striking singing power (Lara) and the passionate play between the two. Everything was imagined by Johnny himself to end the last interpretation in style. A masterpiece, perhaps the most beautiful duet in the world.💫💥🎉

I would like to point out that during rehearsals Johnny Hallyday would have asked Lara Fabian to sing with all her power, he wanted her to shine because she was his guest.
Confirmation from Lara Fabian herself this morning January 25, 2024 on the French channel “TF1” in the show “Bonjour la matinale”
This is why Johnny Hallyday is below vocally.
It was intentional on his part.
    Johnny Hallyday was very generous.
Also note those who do not know or know very little about this singer Johnny Hallyday, he could easily rise very high too. Very big vocal power too.
I wanted to provide a clarification that I had already known for a long time but now with proof for those who belittle or who do not know this great performer.
I'll let you judge for yourself by listening to a few albums in their entirety:
"Rivière Ouvre ton lit" from 69, "Flagrant délit" from 71, "Insolitudes" from 73,
    “Derrière l'amour” from 76
    “Hallyday 84 Nashville en direct”
"Rock'n'roll attitude" from 85, "Gang" from 86, "Cadillac" from 89,
"Ça ne chanhe pas un homme" from 91,
“Ce que je sais” from 98, “Sang pour sang” from 99,
“A la vie à la mort” from 2002, “Ma vérité” from 2005, “L'attente” from 2012,
“Rester vivant” from 2014, his last posthumous album “Mon pays c'est l'amour” from 2018.
And so many other magnificent albums.. etccccc

Lara said this is her favorite duet. She was very nervous because it was performance on Stade de France (national stadium in France in Paris) in front of 80.000 people and Johnny is legend in France. She said touching him made her less nervous so she was all over him lol PS lyrics give a sort of Bonnie and Clayde impression

A bit of context: in 1998, Johnny Hallyday was well established as a french rock'n roll icon. A stage beast, known for leaving it all on the scene for his audience. Lara's career was blossoming in France.
They met, and performed this song, during a tv early 1998 if memory serves. After the show, according to Lara, Johnny came to see her and told her "You're doing the Stade (de France, the arena where this is filmed) with me". Romanced by Lara or actual words, who knows...
Fast forward to September 1998 and this series of concerts (I think they did that duet twice at the Stade de France, but I could be wrong).
The original song was pretty powerful to start with due to its theme and its lyrics. Add Johnny Hallyday's performance on stage. Add an orchestra and a choir. Then top it off with a blooming Lara (she was a stage freak back then, not holding her voice back, which drew criticism from the music industry ironically). And voila!
Now, as to whether Lara was falling for Johnny (and vice versa): I know that Lara admitted being impressed by the charismatic artist that Johnny was, and that once she looked into his eyes (he had pretty colored eyes admittedly), she kind of melted.
But, as far as I know, back then, she was in a relationship, albeit a brief one, with a french singer, Patrick Fiori.
So, admiration, respect, sensuality, attraction even maybe? Sure. But that probably stopped there I'd say.
Also, Lara mentioned that Johnny actually let her own the stage during these performances. He never tried to overpower her because he was the senior one, the established artist. He gave her a hand, he propped her up artistically speaking so she could rise to the occasion.
That's also why Lara had a genuine affection for Johnny.

    • @snoflysse8844
      @snoflysse8844 4 года назад +3

Well, as a matter of fact the attraction was pretty much mutual even tho Johnny was in the 2nd year of his 5th (and final marriage) to a 22 yrs old gold digger and Lara just started seeing a french singer who's name I refuse to type down. Johnny was 55 and Lara was 28 and whenever they shared space sparks flew and yes, Johnny told Lara that she will sing with him at the Stade de France. I don't know if Lara and Johnny ever acted on their obvious chemistry, but what I know for sure is that his wife got hysterical when Johnny mentioned that he would like to take Lara on his next tour. There was only one other woman of whom she got this hysterical about and that was Sylvie Vartan, Johnny's ex and the love of his life. After this concert Lara and Johnny sang together only twice a few years later when Lara was single at the time.. As the story goes the wife didn't know about it, because by Johnny's personal request Lara flew in to sing one single song with him, his most famous love song : Derriere L'Amour.
If you know the lyrics, you should know what that means if you don't know the words here's the translation. lyricstranslate.com/en/derrière-lamour-behind-love.html

Johnny was famous as French rocker and a real beast on the scene ( not my favorite question of taste ) but agree with a real big hug performer ... he said that only Lara can do this ( sing ) with him ...
Well of course in French the lyrics are important because most of the famous French songs it’s more about poetry and transmission ... Lara Fabian is kind the of exception ... very very good ! Merci j’adore vous écouter très grand professionnel 🙏🌹🇫🇷

It is called “Requiem For A Fool.” The police are surrounding them and shining their lights - hence, the strobe effect. He knows he’ll go to prison, but is a fool for love, and they will die together by dawn. They will not be taken alive. (The rain was an accidental effect. Also, Johnny told Lara to “bring her ‘A’ game” and laughed.)

Hi, thank you for this reaction!
I just want to point out, that at some point in her career, Lara had started holding back because critiques were pretty harsh with her (she was a too good singer, too loud, some even said she need to shxt up....), and she tought that if she held back, it'd be better with critiques... In some interviews she even said that she had lost her "voice" for a time.
This of course, is not the case for that performance and now that's in the past but she had some hard times both in her personnal and professional life.

Body language wise? It certainly looked like Lara was far more "into Johnny", than Johnny into Lara. Johnny hardly made eye contact with her, even when he was being grabbed, pulled and fondled all over. He performed his character with a minimum of personal contact. For me, they are both...not idols, because I really don't see myself as the type who has idols, but if I did, them two, along with Bruno Pelletier (it wouldn't hurt you to check out that Quebecois singer if you're into voices which tear down walls, btw), would be about it. The way I see it, if you knew what each of them represented as artists in France, at the time, you would realise he didn't need to be "into" anyone or anything. Not on stage, anyway. He was the perfect professional, giving his newcomer partener all the room she needed to make an impression. He was a legend already, nothing left to prove. Lara got the message and acted accordingly, nothing wrong with that. All in all, they work together perfectly. Despite Lara being a bit more "out there", Johnny's performance is not losing a thing, by letting her shine. He plays the support character role with all the security of someone who knows he can take the lead anytime he wishes to. She's loud, he's powerful. They complete each other perfectly. Was there more to it than that? Who's to say, after all Johnny was a very charismatic character, to say the least. As for those gossip lovers below...whatever your favourites do when they are offstage, is none of your business. And if you trully admire them as much as you pretend, leaving their private lives out of it, would be the minimum courtesy you can do them. Their wives/husbands/families/mistresses, are not supposed to be of your liking, but theirs. End of discussion.

here a fair translation I found... (you have to keep in mind that English is a technical language when French is a "feeling" or a romance language, then forcely, english translation won't give justice to this song )
Requiem pour un fou (requiem for a fool)
I warn you to not approach
Whether you are a cop or an onlooker
I kill whoever takes a step
I will not give a chance
    Turn off all your projectors
    And lower your pointed guns
No I won't fly away without her
(here, there is a play of word. because "her", in french is "Elle" and it sound like "Ailes" that means "wings", so you can translate "no I won't fly away without her/without wings)
Tell the priest, tell the pastor
That elsewhere they go and be hanged
    The devil came by early
And my soul is no longer for sale
    If you leave me tonight
At dawn I'll give you my life
What would my life be for me without her
    [Chorus] Johnny And Lara
I was just a fool but for love
She made me crazy, crazy with love
My sky was her eyes, her mouth
My life was her body, her body
I loved her so much that to keep her I killed her
So that a great love always lives
