gosh, your voice is just lovely!!! The way you keep saying you did it by yourself is just so cute and endearing,,, you just have the nicest vibes ever!!!! U have the type of vibes of people I’d go to for advice, yknow? I also write songs! I just started so they’re all cringe, and none of them are finished but I think it’s fun! I’m also not a great singer either, but it’s just a hobby so it’s fine probably. If u have any tips I’d love to hear them!!!
thank you so much, you're absolutely lovely. my best tip for songwriting is to just keep going! practice makes perfect, the more you write the better you get
yes of course! i usually play this on piano so you'll have to bear with me a bit. the verses are mostly just g major and c minor alternating, i usually play the g major as a barr chord (an e major shape on the 3rd fret) so it's easier to get to the c minor (an a minor shape on the 3rd fret). the exception to this is the last line which is Em, D, C G Cm G Cm you told me a story, that night at the lake G Cm constellations that loved with at touch of terror G Cm and a touch of fate G Cm G Cm i'm here in the city, where the stars aren't as bright Em D but they burn in my memory C till i turn out the light then the chorus is mostly just G, B, C, Cm, but the second half changes it up a little. this is why i normally play it on piano (it's much easier) but if your down for the struggle then the descending chord progression is C, C/B, C/A, C/G# and then back to the G, Cm verses. on a piano this just looks like moving the root of the chord down a tone/semitone for each chord change, on a guitar it looks like a normal C chord, then C/B you move your third finger down a fret, C/A remove your third finger, C/G# move your third finger/pinki (whichever is easiest) to the fourth fret on the lowest E string. if you don't want to play that you can just play the same as the first half, so C and then Cm. G B oh, you can keep on chasing me in your memory C Cm but i wish we could put this game to rest G i can't cling to threads of hope B when the ropes start to decay C C/B C/A C/G# it's far too late to save me anyway G | Cm | G | Cm the second verse is the pretty much the same as the first G Cm i've conquered the moonlight G Cm i've begged it to stay Em D i've asked it my questions C and i've pushed it away G | Cm | G | Cm then the bridge is the following: Em | C | G | B Em | C | G, G/F#, G/E, G/D | C, Cm obviously it's pretty impossible to play G/D on guitar, so what i did in this video is I just played G for the entire "G, G/F#, G/E, G/D" bar and then plucked the notes over the top when i recorded harmonies, but if i was playing it live on guitar i would play G (as a normal G chord), then for G/F# move the third finger to the second fret, G/E remove the third finger, and then G/D remove the second finger too - this isn't techincally a G/D chord but it gives the same effect. the third verse and second chorus are virtually the same as the previous verse and chorus (except the last line is sung twice), and the outro is just G, Cm repeated until you wish to stop. finish on G G Cm my hair, it grows lonely G Cm without you in my bed Em D the dream sinking softly C as my hands drift to my head G Cm though i stroke out the longing G Cm i know it's always there Em and i'll never find peace in my hands D C because yours' know each crack of my skull G B oh, you can keep on chasing me in your memory C Cm but i wish we could put this game to rest G i can't cling to threads of hope B when the ropes start to decay C C/B C/A C/G# it's far too late to save me anyway G | B C C/B C/A C/G# oh, it's far too late to save me anyway G | Cm | G | Cm G | Cm | G | Cm | G

it sounds lovely! kinda like humpty by mitski
I love this song, is it okay if you give the chords to it? I can’t find them anywhereee
yes of course! i usually play this on piano so you'll have to bear with me a bit.
the verses are mostly just g major and c minor alternating, i usually play the g major as a barr chord (an e major shape on the 3rd fret) so it's easier to get to the c minor (an a minor shape on the 3rd fret). the exception to this is the last line which is Em, D, C

then the chorus is mostly just G, B, C, Cm, but the second half changes it up a little. this is why i normally play it on piano (it's much easier) but if your down for the struggle then the descending chord progression is C, C/B, C/A, C/G# and then back to the G, Cm verses. on a piano this just looks like moving the root of the chord down a tone/semitone for each chord change, on a guitar it looks like a normal C chord, then C/B you move your third finger down a fret, C/A remove your third finger, C/G# move your third finger/pinki (whichever is easiest) to the fourth fret on the lowest E string. if you don't want to play that you can just play the same as the first half, so C and then Cm.
