This was the set opener. Gene only did the blood puking during one song per show. That was 100000 Years for the first 4 years until The Destroyer Tour and then Gene's song was God of Thunder. Simmons also did a fire breathing thing at the end of Firehouse. You can see that later in the Midnight Special set. I discovered Kiss in 1975. May next year will be my 50th year as a Kiss fan. I am a former pro musician and all of my bands did at least 1 Kiss cover and sometimes 5 or 6. I sang lead on several of them. I used to front my last band on Rock'n'Roll All Nite and Stutter. Kiss is just damn fun music to play.
I became a fan when they came out in '73 & had all their albums, used to sit in my room for hours with my headphones on listening to each album on my Kenwood HiFi stereo turntable 8 track stack system with tower speakers! My room in the 70s looked like the record store from That 70s Show as I had a huge album collection {still have over 500} & posters all over the walls & ceiling mostly of KISS, Led Zepplin, AC/DC, Jacklyn Smith, Raquel Welch & a few other things my parents didnt care for but I was the envy of my friends tho! Halloween 1977 I was the Demon & have pics in an old foto album! Keep the V happy ✌💖☮
Hi gals! Gene dosn’t spit blood or breath Fire in every song…😂😂 Nothing to lose is a favorite and Getaway, Peter Criss the drummer sings like a crazy cat on that one, he also sings on Nothing to lose… Loved your reaction as always 😍❤️.

Wolfman Jack was indeed an occasional host for The Midnight Special on NBC from 1973 to 1981.
Deuce is one of their staples, and usually performed early in their set (opener, 2nd or 3rd), they did perform it as an encore (mostly in 1976, and I think again in 1998). Gene Simmons did the blood/bass solo before the songs 100,000 Years (1974-1976), God of Thunder (1976-1983, 1996-2003, 2006-2007, 2011-2023), Unholy (2004) and I Love It Loud (2008-2010). Gene only did the blood in 1 or 2 shows in 1983 when the makeup came off. Paul Stanley had 2 hip replacement surgeries in 2004 (he had complications from the 1st one). How they jumped around in 7 inch heels in the 70s was insane, I believe every die hard fan put on the demon boots at some point. It ain't easy walking in those things.
Oh yeah, now I remember the commercial from about 20 years ago for The Midnight Special Collection. It said before TMS, there was usually nothin on after Carson, or something to that effect.
My favourite band. The Show was killer every week. Kiss live is fantastic. It came on at midnight. T.v. used to shut off at 1 am then on Friday sometimes it was 2 am. The Old Grey Whistle Test was great too. The heels are 7 inch.
From the early days!! April 1975. They were told to tone it down a little for TV lol. You notice Gene isnt wagging his tounge, and some other stage moves arent used.
One of my friend's is a Kiss fanatic and Loves these painted fools ( that's what Alice Copper called them ) at his 2001 gig in Glasgow. My friend paid £1,000 to have a back stage chat with the Star child Paul Stanley. Good glam rock band.
KISS has tons of videos from all different eras. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are the 2 remaining original members. Check out Unmasked era 1983-1996, popular songs such as “God gave RockNRoll to you,” “Unholy,” “Reason to Live,” “Lick it Up” and many more.
That synchronized swaying they do in this song.In the early days of the band, whn they performed in hotel ballrooms & school auditoriums, they did it once or twice during a performance, but didnt like it.But when their first manager's partner showed them to do it on a screen. They put it in their show from 1975-2023
Rush copied it in 1974-76, usually during Bastille Day. It started when Rush had been opening for Kiss, they became friends, and they pranked each other.
The younguns have no concept of 3 VHF and 3 UHF stations and stations shutting down, and all you have is the stupid test pattern on your TV. That meant take your butt to bed, lol. My whole early life saw the world through a 19" black and white TV that we all had to fight for. Times sure have changed. You ladies need to watch the Kiss interview with Tom Snyder. Priceless!!!
Unless you lived along the Canada USA border and got channels from both sides. I lived in Montreal where we got upper NY state and Vermont TV, and later Toronto, where we got Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse stations. When I lived in NJ in the 70's there was a ton of stations out of NYC. And Charlotte NC not so many, and we had PTL Studios literally 1/2 mile away.
Broadcast TV would shut down a 3 am every night. The Midnight Special was actually at 1 am on Saturday mornings... what almost everybody still thinks of as Friday night. TBS used run Love American Style in the same slot.
Loved Wolfman Jack. His voice was otherworldly. For more KISS, do Gene splitting blood during God of Thunder. Pick a live performance from the End of the Road tour.
When I started watching the midnight special in the late Seventies early eighties it was on at 1am after Saturday Night Live. Gene Simmons performed a Bass solo and spit blood which reached some people in front of the audience. Wolfman Jack was a regular host along with famous artists. The Midnight Special has its YT channel where I have seen many great artists I like as well as some I watch for the first time. The only problem is I had to watch the show with the volume really low. 😊
Kiss is - Gene Simmons (the demon) - Paul Stanley (Starchild) - Ace Frehley (Space Ace) - Peter Criss (the Catman) In 1979 the capitalize on their success Hanna-Barbera the company famous for doing Scooby-Doo and the Flintstones did a live action movie with them at an amusement park where they were superheroes.
KISS in some ways are very much like the Beatles, where all 4 members can sing. The guitarist with the deep V is Ace Frehley, who also sings lead on some of KISS most iconic songs, Shock Me, Talk To Me, New York Groove and 2000 Man. Hopefully one day you will do a song where Ace takes vocal duties. Great Reaction, love this channel :)
Kiss became internationally famous by increments. I know my brother was buying up all the albums by the end of the seventies and I used to sit in his room, with the walls shaking from his turntable, staring at the LP covers. They appeared to depict four guys who had dropped in from Mars or something. I mean I was only 5 or something.
The Midnight Special started a RUclips channel in 2024 and release a new episode (from the original series) every week, and they release single song videos, too
yes... Genes character is the Demon.... blood was on occassion since their beginning. Shock was their first major reputation issue they had when i was a kid.. it was scary to see the new kiss art - I was like 13... Guitarist known as. Spaceman.... each has some stage nickname
Gene Simmons only spit blood at one particular spot in the set, during one song. He doesn't spit blood, or breathe fire through the whole show. There are two other songs on the midnight special She and Black Diamond, both are definitely worth doing.
They were a little before my time. I mean like 1 to 2 years too early. I am a former pro musician and I performed live with boots with 1.5" heels. I'd be permanently maimed if I'd ever tried platforms. lol
The channels used to shut down between one and two in the morning. And yes, the show was around midnight I remember is a little kid I used to try my hardest to stay awake to see it especially if it was KISS. I was successful probably 2 out of every 10 tries😂😂😂 as kids always think we can stay up late, but we couldn’t. We’d always fall asleep.😂😂😂 KISS was my first concert in 1978. I was 12 years old. Another fun reaction.👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙🤘🤘🤘
Yes I know the answer because I was there..... Gene Simmons There was only one point in the concert where he did the Blood thing. LOL You asked a while back about rumors around Gene's tongue being real or not. it's his real tongue. I don't know the scint... sientfk...sci... REAL name of it, but there is a vein under your tongue you can see when you raise your tongue looking in the mirror. Gene supposable doesn't have that.
