I can relate so much to this video. It reminds me of when our family first came to the US as refugees. A family of 8! First time on plane.
We were very excited to sleep on the sofa bed but our back couldn’t handle the softness and ended up sleeping on the floor for days!
We didn’t know how to use the stove or fridge and many more to add but……

I just wanted to say THANK YOU International Rescue Committee for the video and your amazing works!!

I believe none of this need to happen if we have leaders who think of its constituents benefits. Wish you get settled well and have your kids future secured.

That's a good idea but Florida is a red state controlled by Republican idiots and now the home state of trump.

60's Anti-Poverty Volunteer Here: When we 1st started tackling world hunger, we thought PART of the solution was to relocate people from poor countries into rich ones. We discovered VERY QUICKLY that there were NOT NEARLY ENOUGH "rich countries" to accommodate over 1 billion refugees. We recognized we were going to need to help people IN OR NEAR THEIR OWN HOMELANDS. That was back when both US & World Population were LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT THEY ARE NOW. Being "humane" & "compassionate" is GREAT unless, in order to be generous to foreign born persons, the needs of native born individuals are NEGLECTED. The US has its own refugees; people trying to flee domestic & gang war violence for which their own government refuses to help. It's past time to utilize the TEACH TO FISH vs. GIVE A FISH solution. Other nations near those at war have NO incentive to do their share for refugees when the US & Canada are doing practically all of it. Sorry, but NO SINGLE NATION CAN BE THE WORLD'S LIFEBOAT WITHOUT SINKING ITSELF. Let us help people NEAR THEIR OWN COUNTRIES. Peace.
