ప్రాచీన కాలం నుంచి నేటి సాంకేతిక యుగం వరకు ఎగుమతి, దిగుమతులు అంటే ముందుగా గుర్తొచ్చేది. జల రవాణా. అందుకే కాబోలు ప్రపంచంలో అభివృద్ధి చెందిన, చెందుతోన్న దేశాలు పోర్టుల నిర్మాణంపై ప్రత్యేకంగా దృష్టిసారిస్తుంటాయి. భారత్ కూడా పోర్ట్ ల నిర్మాణంపై ప్రత్యేక శ్రద్ధ వహిస్తోంది. దేశంలో 12 ప్రధాన ఓడరేవులను అభివృద్ధి చేయడంతో పాటు నూతనంగా మరికొన్నింటిని నిర్మిస్తోంది. ఇందులో భాగంగా రాష్ట్రంలో మూలపేట, రామాయపట్నం మచిలీపట్నం పోర్టులతో పాటు కాకినాడ సెజ్ లో ప్రైవేట్ పోర్టు నిర్మాణంపై దృష్టిసారించింది. ప్రధానంగా శ్రీకాకుళం జిల్లా మూలపేటలో నిర్మాణమవుతున్న పోర్టు పనులు శరవేగంగా కొనసాగుతున్నాయి. 2025 జూన్ నాటికి మూలపేట పోర్టు మొదటి దశ పూర్తయి ఇక్కడి నుంచి ఎగుమతులు దిగుమతులు చేయాలని లక్ష్యంతో ప్రభుత్వం ప్రణాళికలు సిద్ధం చేసింది. మరి, మూలపేట పోర్టు ప్రత్యేకతేంటి..? శ్రీకాకుళంలో అభివృద్ధిలో దీని పాత్రేంటి..? ఇప్పుడు చూద్దాం.
