      @@countrydancex You both are so cute!!! It’s always helpful to see you demonstrate to music at the end of a lesson. Thanks!Would it be possible to make a video listing songs and demonstrate what type dance to use? We are going to a wedding and sometimes we’re confused except for the obvious Cha-cha, Salsa, Waltz. 🤷‍♀️

    @X Dance. I have training in American style and international style ballroom, salsa, WC Swing, Nite Club, and Hustle. I just hate when I take lessons locally and taught the opposite of what I was taught by … insert famous instructor. So I watch this video on turning, and it is all good. Maybe you point out things in a different way, but the same principles. Being taught the wrong way can really damage your training. So I find the first two videos of yours I have watched as useful. Subscribed, liked, and comments made. Here’s one for you. In describing the “dome” around your partners head to lead the turn, try treat your lady like an Angel and use the halo or create the halo.

    • @countrydancex

      Yes! We use the “women are angels” analogy all the time :-)

    I just watched the video and I learned a ton! For the prepping before turns, I’ve been doing it and understand it for more structured dances like two step or polka, but how can you do it in country swing? I can’t find the beat to do preps, especially in the middle of moves sometimes

    What are things to practice as a leader by yourself??

    • @countrydancex
      @countrydancex  3 года назад +1

      Hi there. There are some things you could practice alone… turns for sure. Footwork is another. We also suggest dancing alone to help with rhythm and leading on the fly.

    At 13:17, I do not see a 45 degree angle. What am I missing? Thanks.

    • @countrydancex
      @countrydancex  2 месяца назад

      @@stube49 I can see why you would say that. The viewing angle from the camera makes it difficult to see… but the angle from her shoulder to elbow is a 45 degree angle between being parallel to the angle from should to shoulder. Basically, she would hold her upper arm in the middle between flat out to the side and a 90 degree angle as if she had her upper arm pointed directly forward.
      Make sense? Lol

    Most women dont giveup the arms to match speed or direction. She usually tries to take the lead, like to high, to low, etc.... Hand slips, two handed, or snapping the turn, losing connection. Surrendered arms like a move as big arms in sweetheart/ shadow or lariet/cape, etc....

    • @countrydancex
      @countrydancex  3 года назад +1

      No totally familiar with what you mean by "surrendering arms"... we usually reference "making them available". Maybe we're talking about the same thing?

    My girlfriend is taller than I am and it gets hard sometimes to do spins that I want😫

    • @countrydancex
      @countrydancex  3 года назад

      Height differences definitely change the dynamics of the partnership (especially when the follower is taller). That doesn’t, however, mean that things wouldn’t be workable.

  • @nadinesmith8742

    This was all concentrated on her arm. What about the man’s arm. Often times men straight arm a partner and makes them off balance.
