"Space Ritual" for one, is a great LP with Lemmy (of Motorhead). When they finally put a dent on the charts back in late 1971 with there only hit, "Silver Machine" they had an opportunity to be signed to a major label, but turned it down, they knew better and remained a cult following till this day. I like space rock, and early Spiritualized, all Spacemen 3. Just a few within the vien of space rock or advant-garde, progressive rock, however you wanna label it, or underground bands . As for Spiritualized or Jason Space vrs Sonic Boom/Spectrum, well that's just ego's getting the best of them, anyhow you look at it, they all contributed to a common sound and feel, yet so unique from each other. It's common amongst geniuses in any genre to have ego's once the music is appreciated. A shame, but very true.

First off, they were contemporaries, for the most part. j&mc were kind of like an 80s Beach Boys/60s Rock n' Roll done with chainsaw guitars while Spacemen 3 had a more psychedelic post-Velvet Underground sound. While they both share certain Garage/Psych sensibilities, calling Spacemen 3 a knockoff is both untrue and lazy.
