- WATCH: Bodycam footage shows Arizona police arresting polygamist cult "prophet" Samuel Bateman after he was found traveling with underage girls inside a squalid trailer in August. Authorities said a witness told police he saw human fingers poking out of Bateman's trailer prior to the traffic stop. The video shows officers questioning the self-proclaimed "prophet" about who he's traveling with before opening the trailer and discovering the disturbing conditions inside. The trailer along with the girls appeared to have a porta-potty, couch, blankets, food, and a stroller. Bateman faces charges of federal kidnapping and tampering with evidence and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Bodycams are such an amazing tool in the criminal justice fight. We have verbal and visual of these suspects as they truly are not how lawyers twist them to appear. My family is full of officers and soldiers so the proof provided protects everyone involved
My respect to your family members. You're right on, the footage provided not only serves as evidence of these encounters but the in many ways it also protects everyone involved. That's why I advocate for continued use of bodycams with ways to guarantee that the footage is full and intact. This reminds me so much of my now girlfriend that was raised in the Mormon religion and how brainwashed she and her siblings were. She didn’t know ANYTHING when we met, nothing at all about life in general. After dating me a non Mormon male, she is now shunned from the family and her father helped her ex husband in a custody battle. These “cult” type of religions and lifestyles are a nuisance to our society, hope these ladies snap out of it and get away from this mess!

I saw this same video on another channel & it showed a lot more of the girls & I had noticed that at least, two of them had looked to be pregnant. I live in south east Idaho where polygamist families are a fairly common sight. I do mobile heavy equipment repair & & at times work for these people in SE Idaho & NE Utah but have never actually seen or talked to a "leader". A female is always the gobetween & they pay in cash through a partially opened door. I don't judge other people & I always ask if they need anything but they always look so afraid of me. It makes me sad to see these women being treated like farm animals & I want to rescue them but I only get to rescue their equipment.

Note how this Evil individual keeps looking back at the trailer and turning around on the Officer so he can try to catch the eyes of the girls in that trailer and its more than likely to terrorize the girls and try and keep control of them. The Officer should have put him in the unit to keep him out of contact. The Officer putting the cuffs on needs some Correction experience so he can cuff and individual a lot faster and it will defuse situations like this.

It's hard to say but I doubt it since their mothers probably weren't arrested. When you're dealing with cults it can be hard to get people to leave. If they have legal rights to their children they'll likely exercise it to keep them cloistered. They tend not to make great witnesses either.

The other 'Bateman' women (Marona Johnson, Leia Bristline, and Brenda Barlow) arrested for 'child endangerment' or kidnapping on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at a rented AIRBNB type home in Cross Hollow Drive (Cross Hollow Hills subdivision) in Cedar City, Utah. I hope the news will report this recent arrest!

I've watched this and the longer version twice now, those young kids are clearly terrified they would never have been exposed to anything like this before. I talking about the juveniles not the two older ladies.
The one thing I think was missed is when they were lined up and separated from the older women, never once did I hear any police say anything thing like "don't worry, it'll be ok"
As for the creepy guy throw him to the prison system that will take care of that grub but those kids are going to need some serious help going forward.

If I remember correctly, there was a secondary group of girls that were caught up here where I live. There were 2 groups of girls, a group of older and younger girls. The older girls were like the guardians of the younger girls and were on the way to Arizona. This is crazy!!!

As I said a month back…this is a losing battle. These women and girls know nothing else but this life. It’s sad to us, but they have no support. Additionally, these communities don’t recognize our law enforcement as theirs.

Do you have any idea what these officers have encountered? They have to act, to check on the well being of those passengers. They were very polite, patient and just doing their jobs. I’m just happy they did not find a far worse scenario .
If they treated more people like this, we wouldn't be in the situation where in now.

I saw this a few weeks back on utube. The cops spoke to the girls but I didn't hear his convo with the cops. The girls in the trailer were 18, 14 & 11 I think! So sick really!

They have been taught that those not in their cult are put to harm them. When I lived in Flagstaff, I would try to speak with the wives and children and even just simply smile and say hi and you could see the fear of me in their eyes.

Look at the way the cop make sure he’s nice and comfortable. “Are you cuffs OK? There not to tight now?” They give him two cuffs and on top of that they loosen them for him. I mean, wtf! I’ve had cuffs on me that broke skin over some pot. I probably did longer than this guy will too.
