      PCL-R ITEMS

      Grandiose sense of self worth

I live in Tarrant County, TX. The largest republican county in the country. It was when the wealthy people tried to split our school district and give the rich 1/4th of the district all the amenities (stadium, pool, admin building, technology center etc) and leave the poorer 3/4ths of the district with the bus barn - - AND they did it in such a sneeky underhanded way AND they came incredibly close to doing it that people here had their eyes opened and finally saw what was happening. This would have had a direct impact on all our kid's education and home prices.
For the first time in a long while we elected a democrat by a huge margin.

So glad your community learned in time. In AZ, we have ESA vouchers. It used to be for special needs students but Repub legislature decided thar wasn't "fair" and opened it to all. Now they give thousands of taxpayers' $ to wealthy families to use as they feel the children need... such as the big expensive Lego sets, professional golf clubs, annual ski passes, family "educational" trips to Disneyland and more. This scam was voted down in past but somehow still happened. Many families use it properly but it shouldn't have taken years to figure out the millions in fraud. Still Repub legislature and state superintendent want it to stay. "Oh ..we will "fix" it, we didn't know... We'll stop the auto approval of $2000 or less

One of the most significant motivations that led to trump’s win in 2016, and even more so in 2024, was flat out misogyny and racism. That cannot be ignored. After President Obama’s two terms, he entered the race opening up his campaign with a grotesque attack on Mexicans and immigrants. Throughout his campaign he consistently belittled women and of course the “grab ‘em” comment. Anyone using the economy as a reason for voting for him ignored his multiple bankruptcies and the fact that every democratic administration of the past four decades left a better economy with a lower deficit than republicans. People didn’t want to vote for the woman in 2016, and especially the Black woman in 2024, even though they were astonishingly more educated, competent and prepared.

In one college class I was teaching, one of the students' phones went off. I made him stand up, answer the phone, and carry on the conversation as we all listened. Turns out it was his mother. He kept saying he had to go, because he was in class. His mother insisted on talking to me! So, he put the phone on speaker and I said hello, and then he told her he REALLY had to go. He never left his phone on after that....and neither did anyone else in the class.

Where are the artists and musicians who gave voice to our moral outrage? Thank God for the historians and podcasters who tap into our need to understand what is going on.

I wonder if you cound someday talk about Eleanor and her contributions for the bringing up the poor during that time frame. She was the Presidents eyes and ears and she got to know the average American and understood their suffering.

I'm filing taxes. Elon Musk, Trump, and the rest of them are tax evaders. They are using our tax money to lock up our neighbors and commit war crimes. I was just sent *certified mail,* from the IRS, about back taxes that I owe. I'm a single mom who owns a small business (yes, I pay a CPA). Please address the movement to withhold Federal tax money. I've heard that there are Democratic states that are providing protection. Can you explain?

@bluelotus7427, He isn't, but he's trying. You can literally see it. Rubio sends him refocus notes in the middle of meetings (oil company meeting). When Rubio sees Trump going off into lala land, Marco tries to redirect him. He didn't get up from his chair to redirect him to the table after Trump took off to look a his imaginary building, because Marco knew the newsoutlets would have a field day with it. "Comeback to the table granpa and focus on eating your dinner" moment.

My parents came to adulthood during the depression. My mother said she stayed in high school only because she could not find a job. My father worked in the C.C.C. and then joined the Navy at the start of WWII. Mom was never political but always thought of F.D.R. as a hero. Another branch of my dad's family was Republican and though a couple of them ran for various state offices, I never voted Republican. But I never believed the differences in the parties could divide our country in this manner!
