Very cool piece. Definitely in the pine family. All the knots indicate that. At 1st, i thought it was Dogwood. If you ever get any dogwood. It is hard, and beautiful to turn!
Very nice piece, well done. I really like the carbide tool you used for the inside, heavy bar to cut down the chatter. The timber is either Norfolk Island Pine or Cook Pine or a hybrid of the two. The knots are too symmetrical to be Monkey Puzzle. All three species are not even remotely Pine, but are coniferous.
Like the symmetry of Norfolk pine.
Stunning piece of Norfolk Island Pine, beautifully done!
very nice. Looks like holly with all the branches and spalting.
beauty

Excellent, pleaded you enjoyed working with 'Norfolk pine' also known as Signal tree. Keep turning.
Ah. Thanks for the tip. I had actually wondered if it could be Norfolk pine.

Thanks for the insight. I worked with Norfolk pine once, but it didn’t have any knots in it. It did finish very smooth like Norfolk pine.
very pretty right at beautiful
...if we took a vote, I'd say the eyes have it...😉

Thank you! Cheers!
It's Norfolk Island Pine, a member of the Monkey Puzzle Tree family.
I wondered. It did feel a bit like a Norfolk pine piece I worked a few years back.
looks like Monkey Puzzle to me going by all the knots great shape
Never heard of Monkey Puzzle. I’ll read up, thanks!
Fingers crossed that it didn't blow-up without a band or two on it... 😳😵💫😵💫😬🙏🤞🤞🤞🤞
It's beautiful and should sell well. 👍
thanks. I was reasonably confident as the wood was rather hard between the eyes.
Reminds me of a peacock tail.
I ca see that!
What type of finish did you use?
