I actually forsook new tires for a divisional autocross event to build a new PC for iRacing. Its a sickness you don't want to recover from. its also run by professionals that are unlike any other in the industry. They absolutely deserve all the success they have achieved.
I can see the upside to the fast track system as well. Personally I have benefited from it. There has been a rash of short tracks, and most of it is likely the black eye my iRating has taken by tailing the back of the field just to get Saefty Rating. iRacing has some kinks that need worked out, and imo it's a little more spendy then maybe it should be, but in the end it is probably the best sim racing experience you will find anywhere, hands down.
Dear Iracing devs- you`re doing great job, I`m in love with this game, but pleasseeeee introduce more series for road guys. Porsche Cup (or any other well known series, could be WTCC, ILMS) = 10x more active users.
I'm interested to see what the new tire model feels like :D. Will we ever get visual tire deformation to match the physics simulation? it would make for some great slow motion replays.
$99 a year. Now if you take advantage of the $30 credit for early yearly renewal along with your possible 40 bucks a year just for participating in races, you can easily have it for $29 a year after an initial investment that is very reasonable. As far as hobbies are concerned this would is one of the cheapest you will ever find and it keeps improving leaps and bounds at least 3 times a year.
Just got the e-mail notification on this! Wow they have come a long way by the looks of it since they first started out! Wow! I never signed up for iRacing, This is NO arcadey game by any means people! A wheel and pedals is a must! If you like realism this is probably as close as you are going to get! Now if they had NASCAR Modified Legends from the 70's & 80's I might have to give them a try myself or Australian V8 Supercars! Well If i could practice on my own.
If you buy the items in bulk (6 or more cars/tracks at a time) You will get 20% off. It will cost you about $600 You can earn iRacing credit from playing it anyway. It eventually pays for itself. Best quote from a member of the website "If you treat iRacing like a game it's expensive. If you treat it like a hobby it's worth it. If you treat it like a learning tool it's the bargain of the century."
@itsangrybees As opposed to other games, you're not only racing, you're actually driving a lot more than your race, to get acclimated to the feel of the car and the track, makes for really fun hours of driving. Having fun is the mojo of iRacing, races only being a mean to an end whereas in other games its often the only thing to do, getting quickly boring.
Defenders of cost: 1. I am a iracing player. 2. The costs need to be warned about. It is very expensive. Subscription AND buying cars and track? That's pretty rich. If the devs say that they need to charge that to make money back, then OK, fine. Some people pay that (I have!) The problem I have is some of my favourite cars really lack for drivers. The community is much smaller than it could be. Upside: polite, dedicated community, because you have to love sim racing to pay that much!
@hjfrancisco They've been working on Nurburgring for a while now, it's Alot of track and the guys put a lot of work into every detail they can, so i'm not surprised it's taking so long.
@MrMarlby agreed! I put it off cause of the price and took the intro offer and I haven't looked back! nr2003 and rfactor have been removed from my hard drive. You do need to give it a good hard try It's nothing like the old sims but when you figure it out it is awesome!
@itsangrybees None, they'd have to close the road (track uses part of the actual french roads in case some didn't know), so I don't see it happening even during the 24h when the road is already closed, it would require them to do the job in a really short time, making it too big of a gamble in my opinion.
@cortkatanakx1q apparently on the forums they said that it would take too much money to model it after having scanned it (and it would probably use way too much computer ressources for most people anyway), and it would make they have to sell it way to pricey for people to be interested (100$ in my opinion). Fun alternative would be to scan roads, uphill style, with both uphill and downhill, like 1.5 miles of european roads, easy to block for scanning, and a big part that isn't in iRacing yet.
I have no idea where that guy is coming from, because all of iRacing's content is $400, and you get huge discounts when you buy in bulk. Not to mention you earn $10 per series you complete 7 of 12 weeks (2 races per week), if you're active enough you could potentially play iRacing for free, but realistically most very active people can make $20-30 per 12 weeks In anycase nothing else compares, not only physics but in how people treat races like actual races, can run side by side with confidence
@lilbro209 game/gām/ Noun: A form of play or sport, esp. a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck. It's compeditive and is played according to rules. It is also decided by skill, strength and some luck aswell. It is both a sim and a game.
Here's what I have to say about iRacing. It's physics are amazing and has the best feel and response with the G27 wheel! Honestly it's the best racing simulator to date. But for one month of play I had to pay $12 and I only get 5 cars? Really? If I want more I have to pay $15 for each. I usually play GT5. Though it's not the best racing sim, its driving physics are still great and the game is enjoyable!
@viper2131 they have said in the past that it costs them about couple hundreds of thousand dollars to create track so i cant understand how can 15$ be to expensive. they have lowered costs almost 50% from where they have started so it was way more expensive than it is now.
@iRacing David : buddy you win the funniest quote award on these comments "most games are about racing, iracings also about driving" ... If ever there was a game that had a single minded focus on just racing this is it! I just picture you littering around at 40mph admiring the foliage at Lime rock lol.
Why do cost comments always pop up? How many people out there work for free? Why expect it from iracing employees or anyone else for that matter? Iracing has updates and improvements every 3 months or so. Compared to Gran Turismo 1-5? That's a shelf price of about $300 or so if you have been loyal since the beginning? Yes iracing is more expensive, but the tracks and cars are physically scanned copies of the real things. Not just graphic renderings made up by someone in a cubicle somewhere. Why
@viper2131 Absolutely. This has been my biggest sticking point since signing up with iRacing. I would like them to offer everything in one lump sum and not nickel & dime me to death for every little thing that comes along. Also, they need an off-line option so people can test and build set-ups without using bandwidth when others in the home are needing it more.
@mike07gtcs considering if it were in stores and could buy a hard copy, it would be in a gaming section of some kind, but its a simulation aka, real life game
@kimi450 i think u can get 3months of race time for the price of 1, just check iracing.com, and its a small fee i dont think its even more then 20 dollars
I just got the game thanks to the 3 month 12$ offer but I think I won't be able to buy a full membership because of the price. It would great if they reduced the monthly membership and it would be awesome if they would lower the price of cars and tracks to more acceptable prices, I mean an Indycar for 12$ is fair but 12$ for a Star Mazda?! Same thing for the tracks, also it would be great if there were packs in which you could buy packs of cars or tracks for a cheaper price.
@MrTiti You do realize that this was programmed by the people who made GPL.... right? It's just the evolution. Is it perfect... no, nothing but reality could be. Never had a server crash myself. Tire model IS the GPL model, plus 20 years of development. Carry on... troll away.
@mindadventurer I I remember right full content will cost you about $1,000.00 plus your membership fee. If you pick a certain series, I choose NASCAR type pasth with the big stock cars, then you can probably get away with $400.00. Majority of what kills you is tracks. iRacing likes to put the uninteresting tracks in the weekly series to bait you into buying the tracks. None the less, mods for rFactor are free, the greedy crooks at iRacing aren't.
Nope. Road license can get to C without buying anything except the sub. Oval requires the purchase of one car to get to C. But like I said. Pay for the game and the tracks/vehicle you want to run for a birthday present or something and then as long as you fulfill your CRED participation in that series you will get a bonus at the end of the 12 weeks. It has been proven that after that you only have to pay something like $10 a year. It's a lot at first but it pays off.
Nascar! Yehaww! Today my fellow americans, we will mostly be turning left, followed by left, left again and finally another left to come full full circle! American motorsport number 1!
Stop charging for all the content... Every car every track should be included in a pay one price fee and then a monthly fee... It is this fact alone that keeps me from going back!!
@fishme66 how much was total price of iracing? it is not listed on there web site. 600? 700 dollars us? plus a monthly fee. gee wiz ... rfactor 2 coming soon you will pay 60 bucks and race any car in the world any they all have a different feel. Just sayin people should no there place for us poor little guys.
Don't be fooled by the hype. These are computer nerds that still can't get it right. Three years of development and they just got a tire model. Now they just need a damage model, pit repairs, and physics that aren't the same for every car. This will cost you about $600.00 for the first year with all the content like tracks ($15) and cars ($15). I almost forgot about the ghosting in the pits so the majority of racers, that would rather run over you than drive their car, can get a clean pitstop.
Yes, there ARE other games out there good enough for most people. The problem with most racing games is that there are always some morons who's only intention is to cause carnage. Thankfully iRacing delete the accounts of people who do that. So, I don't mind paying if it means i get to RACE with people who also enjoy good, clean, fair racing. Oh, and it just happens to be the best racing 'game' there is.
Almost every sim ever made has had the nurburgring. It's never used for actual racing because most people, probably including you, cannot remember the track. And saying a sim isn't complete for not including one track is moronic. It just is.
I need to drive it using my street car. I need to drive it on my local tracks. This is a sim for learning tracks. That's what sims are for. I can't wait for some stupid progression in a game to get there. I can't waste time on an expensive sim unless those two criteria are satisfied. In real life I'm not going to be driving some silly Solstice at some silly far away track.
@ekemini12435 yes. I have. that's why I have the balls and authority to comment about this game. 2nd I don't care at all if you play forza 3. I don't play forza but everyone seems to like it. So if everyone else likes it. I like it. No hating for forza gt5 or shift 2 :)
@TurkishHegemony Real driving simulator? So lets be clear : A sim is a computerized algorithm interpreting real life datas put together (iRacing), and Arcade game on the other hand is tweaked so it can please people, and be easier (Gran Turismo), tracks are purposely made easier, cars don't have any kind of damages, cars aren't up to the real specs (nascar for example), and grip levels are fake so people don't crash too often, in short GRAN TURISMO IS THE KING ... OF THE ARCADE GAMES - love you
Pay for the game until you have enough tracks to run a full season in a racing series. You can get up to $10 iRacing credit every season from doing it. The game will almost pay for itself.
@FM11Argyle That would cost more than this or any game to develop. Have you heard of DARPA? The .gov has spent probably billions to just get a robot/AI car to navigate from point A to B and they still have no product ready to go. Not gonna happen, friend.
For everyone who's moaning about the price of iracing putting them off why don't you try their introductory offer of buy 1 month get 2 months free! That's 10 bucks and if you decide it's not for you after 3 months fair enough, just walk away.... bet you don't though!
Well most people don't know it well. Not well enough to do several clean laps on it. And it's not ever going to be on iRacing. Another company has the rights to laser scan it and they are selling those rights for a ridiculous amount of money that iRacing can't afford. And they don't want a Nurburgring that isn't laser scanned.
@JunkyMcSnot How are they "greedy crooks"? First of all, they aren't FORCING you to join. If you don't care about realism, go play something else. But good luck finding a racing sim that laser scans every track in order to achieve accuracy down to the MILLIMETER, and has major updates every 3 months. iRacing is not your typical racing game, nor does it claim to be. Having that much content modeled that accurately costs money. But you certainly get what you pay for.
@JunkyMcSnot With photo realistic tracks and tire models that are built over a period of almost 2 years, they ought to charge that much. Instead of comparing a non-comparable game with iracing, compare iRacing with real life. I'd rather spend $600 than hundreds of thousands in real life.
@CenterTurk If it was free or on a console, it would be a disaster. You'd have people who would have never seen NASCAR in there life attempting to race what feels as close to real life as possible. There would be people that play just to wreck people. People who try to go full throttle at every turn. People who race with keyboards... It would be a disaster.
I actually forsook new tires for a divisional autocross event to build a new PC for iRacing. Its a sickness you don't want to recover from.
its also run by professionals that are unlike any other in the industry. They absolutely deserve all the success they have achieved.
There is nothing like iRacing. It is worth every bit of the money they charge for it.
@TurkishHegemony
Quite frankly, the IMMENSE popularity of that gaming series is almost a testament to how far removed it is from an actual simulator.
alot of people still play it and iracing should look back at there old creation and see how far it has come.
I can't wait! I'm renewing my subscription when this is released. I just can't really afford it now. My G27 is suffering from lack of use :(
It's not just a game...it's a life-style choice.
I absolutely LOVE the look on Smoke's face @ 2:30...
He's like "Wow...this is pretty insane!"
GO STEWART / HAAS!!!!
4:03 i recognize that voice! He must be the guy that narrated the nr2003 driving toutorials!!
I can see the upside to the fast track system as well. Personally I have benefited from it. I love how amazed Tony Stewart is :)
@Junky53 I love how you list everything that they do have and say they dont.
@itsangrybees Exactly, most games are all about racing, iRacing is also about driving, and enjoying the actual act, not only against others .
$99 a year. Now if you take advantage of the $30 credit for early yearly renewal along with your possible 40 bucks a year just for participating in races, you can easily have it for $29 a year after an initial investment that is very reasonable. iRacing is cool. And it's not a game! Let's Go Racing!
Cant wait! The best game ever just keeps getting better :)
Yes they have the V8 Supercar, but you have to get up your licence before you can race it competitively
@hjfrancisco They've been working on Nurburgring for a while now, it's Alot of track and the guys put a lot of work into every detail they can, so i'm not surprised it's taking so long.

You guys REALLY need to up the graphics. They look like PS2 right now and it would be awesome to have cool sun effects and reflections.
@cortkatanakx1q apparently on the forums they said that it would take too much money to model it after having scanned it (and it would probably use way too much computer ressources for most people anyway), and it would make they have to sell it way to pricey for people to be interested (100$ in my opinion).

i pay for this in in New Zealand dollars and LOVE it
good work iracing! keep up!
Is that guy at 3:06 the guy that also did the voices for the in-game tutorials for NR2003? It sounds JUST like him!
Can't be that realistic if Jr is leading a race.
The only thing stopping me from switching from GT5 + LFS to Iracing is the price, the monthly fee kinda makes it too much.
@lilbro209
game/gām/
Noun: A form of play or sport, esp. a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck.
It's compeditive and is played according to rules. It is also decided by skill, strength and some luck aswell.
It is both a sim and a game.
Customer for life.
Why don't I have iRacing yet? As soon as I get the computer for it I'm in :)
Here's what I have to say about iRacing. It's physics are amazing and has the best feel and response with the G27 wheel! Honestly it's the best racing simulator to date. @kimi450 No. The game is entirely online. You must have an internet connection to access the game.
Will Iracing 2.0 be better than Rfactor 2 and will Iracing 2.0 be doing any of the New Zealand dirt oval mods (ie Superstocks Saloons Midgets )
@Karto86 Ford GT and Acura LMP2 coming, don't worry ALMS will be simulated soon
@viper2131 they have said in the past that it costs them about couple hundreds of thousand dollars to create track so i cant understand how can 15$ be to expensive. they have lowered costs almost 50% from where they have started so it was way more expensive than it is now.

@myVRaceLog care to give a example of a post that you would put on the iRacing forums that would be removed?
when the iCeption comes out?
wow, such negative feedback for iRacing. Junky53, you ever try it or did you have a bad on track experience?
iRacingDavid - thanks;)
Why do cost comments always pop up? How many people out there work for free? Why expect it from iracing employees or anyone else for that matter? Yes iracing is more expensive, but the tracks and cars are physically scanned copies of the real things. Not just graphic renderings made up by someone in a cubicle somewhere. Why
@viper2131 Absolutely. This has been my biggest sticking point since signing up with iRacing. I would like them to offer everything in one lump sum and not nickel & dime me to death for every little thing that comes along. Also, they need an off-line option so people can test and build set-ups without using bandwidth when others in the home are needing it more.
Love the trailer. Next time stay away from the Shift sound effects.
Not really showing new features though unfortunately
@mike07gtcs considering if it were in stores and could buy a hard copy, it would be in a gaming section of some kind, but its a simulation aka, real life game
Shouldn't I pay for watch this video too?
i wish they would update nr2003.
@kimi450

@morrowmotorsports yes they do
They do have the v8 super car.

@Junky53 wtf are you talking about? Are you sure you have not been playing big rigs instead of iracing?
Nascar! Yehaww! Today my fellow americans, we will mostly be turning left, followed by left, left again and finally another left to come full full circle! American motorsport number 1!
NFS SHIFT 2, FORZA 4 , AND GT5 WILL BE THE ONLY GOOD RACING GAMES EVER!
I demand a offline install so we can practice alone without internet
Stop charging for all the content... Every car every track should be included in a pay one price fee and then a monthly fee... It is this fact alone that keeps me from going back!!
i checked out the site, i'm broke and can't pay $7 a month, anybody recomend anything?
@TurkishHegemony Have you even played iRacing?
if only i could afford it :'(
@fishme66 how much was total price of iracing? it is not listed on there web site. 600? 700 dollars us?
plus a monthly fee. gee wiz ... rfactor 2 coming soon you will pay 60 bucks and race any car in the world any they all have a different feel. Just sayin people should no there place for us poor little guys.

I can't waste time on an expensive sim unless those two criteria are satisfied.
In real life I'm not going to be driving some silly Solstice at some silly far away track.
fantastic simulator, but it needs improvement in visual damage to cars. wheels, parts of body needs fly away in crashes, especially in open wheelers
@ekemini12435 yes. I have. that's why I have the balls and authority to comment about this game. 2nd I don't care at all if you play forza 3. I don't play forza but everyone seems to like it. So if everyone else likes it. I like it. No hating for forza gt5 or shift 2 :)
i racing is like racing on ice,,so realistic, lmao.
How about you fix the bugs in iRacing 1.0? And redesign the god-awful, dysfunctional, hellishly slow memebers website too?
@TurkishHegemony Real driving simulator?
@danxchamp yes
i need BATHURST CIRCUIT! thanx!

No it won't. If thats how you intend to pay for the game you're gonna get your Class C license sometime in 2017.
@iRacingDavid Too bad. I like SimBin's version but it isn't perfect.

@debeli1975 so let it be.....take it or leave it....
@myjizzureye lol, THAT is what you got from this video? Right on, though. hehehe.
