Had the pleasure of seeing them perform this song and many others earlier this year in Shoreham, really nice bunch, friendly and warm as well as brilliant musicians.
Brings back memories of my life brilliant music seen you live in Nottingham many years ago you are such as good now in the 2022 such a brilliant music i love it
Helencody whatever is an accidental alias, (can't spell pseudonym), I'm her dad and never comment on anything, but this has finally broke the camels back. I've seen China Crisis in loads of venues, ranging from a little pub in Preston to the MEN in Manchester, (and a chippy on Walton road after the match - not a gig, a fishcake), and they're always brilliant, if a touch bitter about Virgin records, cheers for posting, the more 80's Liverpool bands the better and trust me,my bitterness is endless
Thank you, helencodysimpsons. From Miami and always a Liverpool lover. Will try to make it to CC's next gig at the Cavern. The last one was amazing. Gary and Eddie are the best.
Arguably one of the best Extended Plays of the 1980's as it avoids being too clever by half and instead simply extends all the bits you like in the song. If only more Extended Plays of the time had kept to this approach
Love this tune! Was gonna buy this 12" on eBay then walked into the local record shop around November time and it was sitting almost front and center. Couldn't write it!
They were scheduled to play in Australia around the time this was released. For some reason the gigs were cancelled. They were one of my favourite bands back in high school.
This blows my mind away.Clever song and lyrics. And I still remain sane. No money for a great band that could have been. Sad!!! Thanks to them however.
I love this song. I used to work 60 plus hour weeks then I would walk out of work and get into the first Mini Metro on the Wirral with Davy Foo and go fishing. It was red and I am a Blue. But I miss him coz he died at 50 coz he worked in the Homepride Mill and it was full of asbestos. Life breaks your heart and reminds you what is precious🤔💔💔
.. maybe, but this is an excellent exception. A bit of dub, a bit of extra percussion, a few effects and more of the synthesised panpipes are all pluses in my book.
@@Rasgazza I'ts average at at best. What was really needed was an extension of the guitar solo. The frame of the track is nice but at over 7mins, the half way break features of the original 7' need to be extended or repeated (i.e the guitar solo).
Magnifico!!!!
Seen these live about a dozen times and for me they should have been one of the biggest bands on the planet!!
Absolutely awesome live.
Un clásico de los 80

@death2hiphopnRnB There's no other word to describe but, to say.....Masterpiece !
A real classic Walter Becker of.steely Dan must have had real input too because it's a really underrated all time foot shuffler !
This blows my mind away.Clever song and lyrics. And I still remain sane. No money for a great band that could have been. Sad!!! Thanks to them however.

Something for Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters to dance to.
~ Come visit Gag-bit Vinyl, Bushwick NYC for 80s/postpunk/new wave, including lots of China Crisis. ~ :-)
boss this.
you have allies but we are in the shadows
Walter Becker brought me here - in a Stutz Bearcat Jim
IS IT A VAIN A MAGGOT OR A WORM IN THE JUNGLE
12 inch singles were a bit of a con back in the 80s, a couple of minutes of instrumental tacked on either side of the song lol
Which is great :-)
.. maybe, but this is an excellent exception. A bit of dub, a bit of extra percussion, a few effects and more of the synthesised panpipes are all pluses in my book.
Some were better than others

Haha, pretty much the same LinnDrum pattern as Love Is A Battlefield by Pat Benatar. Awesome!
Awful sound quality!
