Thank you for talking about aging as beautiful! I don’t mean to be sensitive, but I’m 27 and have stage 4 cancer and honestly I’m over people complaining about aging. I truly hope I get to get old and see my wrinkles and sun spots! It’s such a gift we take for granted!! Of course, I still think we should all take care of our skin and we don’t have to completely embrace the physical signs of aging, but some people talk about it like it’s the worst thing that life has to offer… and trust me, there are far worse things!

It’s been 3 years since I was diagnosed with cancer and I agree with you about how people complain about aging. I am so thankful to still be here and so far I am cancer free. I just turned 50 and my friends and family were so shocked that I wasn’t upset about it but considering that 3 years prior I really thought I was dying I celebrated the hell out of that birthday! Aging is not guaranteed to anyone. I am sending you positive energy! ❤

I had a series of major surgeries recently that I cud have prevented if I prioritized my self care and kept up with my annual Dr visits instead of putting my job, kid's, husband's needs first. It was a major eye opener. I realized that no matter how hard I worked, my job wud fill my position the minute I'm gone like I was never there, that my kids did not need to have a jam packed schedule to keep them out of trouble or that my husband's demands were more important than my own needs. I'm getting better at saying no to things since my body is still recovering but I still feel that guilt or the FOMO that comes with missing out and that's ok. It will get easier to say no the more u do it. For too long, women have been expected to juggle everything at their own expense and we end up collapsing under the stress.I'm so glad this dialogue on self care is reaching so many ppl now.

I love how deep this chat got, especially on the need for self care. I also lost myself in being a parent. I was a single mom to two girls. Anything I did for myself I felt that mom guilt for, and I felt like I was being selfish. My girls are all grown up now with families of their own, they're 29 and 24 and just recently in maybe the last 5 years I have started taking care of myself better and doing more self care. It is hard to shake those feelings but very powerful to show yourself the kind of love you show others. Thanks for this video. 😊❤

I started reading the Bible a about 5 years ago and I’ve read it all the way through each year. If you read 4 chapters a day starting January 1st you can be done in October. Genesis to Revelation. I read in the morning cause that’s the best time for me but each year I read it, more and more things stick out to me and it has definitely helped my spiritual walk. ❤

It’s a process and I’m getting there.😊 The fact that you realize these things now is extraordinary and your girls will not carry that guilt into adulthood. These are ideas i think you get from your parents in underlying actions and language. Almost by osmosis. Love you and your channel. Have a great night.

Love when you share your Christian values and actions. We walk a road that is narrow. People will always judge who we are, what we believe, and what we do. Meaning people will judge no matter what. We need more women with a platform to share their Christian beliefs. People are lost in this world we live in. I hope everyone can find Jesus. It makes the world more beautiful. I was pregnant with identical with triplets last year. I watched your videos while we were both pregnant lol. I read devotionals and prayed consistently. I was so scared! God gave me the strength. I had them at at 25 weeks. After birth I lost two. Shire passed 27 hrs after and Asher a week later. Judah is doing fabulous! He is such a strong guy! God has blessed my husband and me. That being said you sharing your pregnancy tips and thoughts really helped this firsy time pregnant lady. I am also 34 and I am a teacher. I can relate to you quite a bit. Love your videos.. I really enjoy the Disney chats too! Thank you for being kind, real, and sharing your beliefs! We need more ladies like you!

And yet what is precisely amazing about Jessica is that she doesn't want us all to believe what she believes. She truly appears to love the wonder of a world where there are so many different people.
I deeply appreciate her maturity and confidence in being able to openly express herself and her truth without even an inkling of an impression that any of us should agree. I've been watching for well over 5 years and it's been an amazing thing to watch her grow into.

I definitely have more energy in the morning and it feels good to acknowledge that without instant self-condemnation that I don’t have a lengthy night routine -although I am going to add some of your routine to mine to just try it out. Let’s see if I can read before bed at least one night a week without falling asleep in the middle of a page and tearing up my book as I sleep. Who knows what will happen. I had never taken the time to care for myself in anyway between growing up in a bad environment and then becoming a mom in my very early 20’s (now 41 w/3 kids) the last few years I made it a point to do little things throughout the day to care for myself and what a difference in my mental health and well being. Jessica, since you also have curly/wavy hair, what does your morning hair routine look like in the morning when you're wearing your hair natural? Also, I’ve basically only used hydrating toners the past few years. My favorite is the Dr. Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence. It’s a bi-phase toner that turns milky when shaken, best applies with hands, and makes your skin super hydrated and plump. I like the coordinating moisturizer, too. Totally underrated in my opinion, unless you’re well-versed in the world of Korean skincare.

You are doing something for yourself and your children that is invaluable and will last a lifetime. I don't know what I would have done when my hubby passed away if it hadn't been for my faith. I mean, dinner, kids bath and bedtime stories, dessert and tv or movie w hubby, shower, hair, body and skin care, Journaling, Bible and book reading....😮! Also, a little note, in my case I cannot go to bed with wet hair! It's not dry in the morning, plus it's only 64 degrees in my house at night!!! Yikes! And that's the main reason I don't shower at night. I agree though, it feels amazing to get between the sheets freshly showered! What's your suggestion for nice sheets for the bed? I totally agree with your point that self-care is important to reconnect with yourself and what’s important to you. I do disagree about problems being temporary, as that comes from a place of privilege where the ones you describe aren’t huge life-changing problems. I am privileged in *mannnyyy* ways but the problems my family has to face as a result of child loss, financial loss, family issues, & health issues, are not small problems that go away in a month or two. I can’t journal my way out of my kid being dead. You likely didn’t mean it that way, I know- I’ve been following your channel for 7 years- but try to understand that there are really terrible things that DO matter in this life and ARE important to address/grieve/worry over.

I watch all of your videos so I’ve heard you discuss your struggles with this for awhile and was curious to see what treatment plan worked for you. But seeing it’s still irritating you, I wanted to comment what has finally worked for me! I struggled with this also and it would. not. go. away. My dermatologist finally put me on doxycycline daily and it is a miracle worker. No more tiny bumps and irritation. Do I love taking another daily med? No. But if it helps my skin stay clear from that stubborn dermatitis, it’s worth it to me. I also still use the metrogel and the combination of the two is 🤌🏻 chef’s kiss. I hope this is helpful! My skincare in general is about 75% Paula's Choice, and the rest is CeraVe. I'm 100% fragrance free in my skincare; I even use PC for my shampoo and conditioner. Took me ages to realize my scalp was sensitive to fragrance. Would get red and itchy, and for years I thought I had dandruff but dandruff shampoos weren't fixing it. I tried "natural" shampoos, but turns out those just used very harsh cleansing ages instead of the regular sulfate. Now that I've been fragrance free since 2016 and my scalp is so much happier! Never heard of Necessaire; may give them a peek!

Once I figured out I didn’t have dandruff, I just had a dry scalp and a fragrance allergy, my life changed. The Paula’s choice shampoo did amazing for me!! I’m now using the necessaire shampoo and conditioner and they’re amazing too. I actually like using a little bit of the conditioner on my scalp since it’s light and it really helps my dry scalp!!

My mom conditioned me from childhood that there’s no better feeling than getting into your bed after the end of the day clean🥰so I’m absolutely a night shower apologist hahah

Thanks for the reminder to remember carefree times and what we used to do. One thing that came to mind was walking to a local pizza joint and spending an hour or two in the middle of the afternoon. We have one close and I put it on a date night list!

I love your self care talk and this routine ❤
Please don’t go to bed with wet hair. Your hair is in its weakest state when it’s wet and sleeping on wet hair can cause a lot of breakage and damage your hair

I've heard it is a bad idea to go to bed with wet hair. It is weaker and will cause breakage.

Jessica--- thank you so much for this video. Im so bad at waiting until Im too tired to "get ready for bed." What a great idea to have this routine in the evening before you feel that way. I am so jealous of your tea drawer....I need to find a way to set up something like that lol. Also so interesting you speaking of the things that make you happy as a teen. Sometimes when Im feelign down or burned out...I try and think of the things that made me happy as a kid--- and they were so simple...didn't have to be a big trip. Could just be hanging out with my friends. Love this video. Thank you!

Jessica, I also love the Tatcha Indigo Overnight Mask and Dewey Moisturizer also. You mentioned you can find these on sale at times. Other than Sephora sale, is there a sale on these products elsewhere? I love the products but they are pricey.

Just starting this, but been a nighttime shower-er for most of my life and it’s great. Had a short period of morning showers and wow awful to wake up and have to get in, especially in the cold winters lol. Also just so cozy to go to bed nice and clean☺️

Girls you need to be taking care of yourselves, you can't take care of anyone else if you don't give yourself some love. And so happy to see your night routine, I also read Bible at night no Interruptions.
