Good question! So since I'm using an inkjet printer I have to paint where i don't want the foil to show. If this was a Xerox wax printer or a toner printer I would have to worry about painting it. Hi nice video. I do have a question. When I paint white on the back I notice the colors on the front are getting discolored. Is this just because I am not thinning the acrylic ink? Does it have to be the acrylic primer to not cause this issue?
My new favorite medium for painting the backs of cards now. Is the white paint sharpie. It works much better you can put it on in much thinner coats. And I think it looks a bit better too. So if your ink is doing weird things like leaking or changing color. Make sure you're letting it dry all the way. The best way that I found to have the ink dry is to tape the print to a wall and then point a small space heater at it. and just have the space heater blow warm air on it for about 30 minutes and it should be super dry and cure very well
How come your painting looks borderline perfect, when ever I try it I can see the dark brush lines and there's always uneven dark spots. Do you have any tips on painting better or a better alternative to use other then the brush.
Hey! Question about the paper if you still check here: I found two different Koala paper stocks. The one you linked here is listed as “milky” transparency at about 5mil thickness. There is a fully transparent koala paper that’s also listed as 4.5mil thickness. My dummy brain sees higher transparency and lower thickness and wants to grab that one. But since you specifically recommend the milky one, I wanted to ask why you go with the milky one. Does it help mask the texture from painting the solid on the back? Or does it appear more matte (and maybe full transparent would make whole card look too shiny)? Super helpful video! First tutorial on this that made sense to me
I actually haven't tried the clearer thinner one yet. I was just testing with the milky one and just went with it. My guess would be that it would be a bit more glossy on the ink side which isn't a bad thing. But I do think I like the more matte and milky koala paper personally. @@Scalik such a fast response! That makes total sense. When I was thinking about it, I realized the super clear one would probably make the whole card shiny. Yes, the new method is explained in the latest video. There's a type of holographic paper that you can get on eBay that very closely resembles secret rare patterns.
@@Scalik Yeah of course it is. Konami and Upper Deck both purchase holographic paper card stock for printing cards. Magic the Gathering does as well. Doing a quick amazon search I found some different options, for example: www.amazon.com/Holographic-Paper-Collection-Creativity-Starts/dp/B07R5BZ9NZ/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3COAFFHTSLR18&dchild=1&keywords=holographic+cardstock&qid=1598143097&sprefix=holographic+c%2Caps%2C238&sr=8-3. According to my research holographic paper is made using an oil slick effects, and any extra patterns and designs are either pressed into the paper or are added to the oil slick (like metallic flakes, star shapes, diagonal lines etc).
More options: www.amazon.com/Bazzill-Cardstock-Rainbow-Holographic-10-Pack/dp/B088X63R15/ref=sr_1_48?dchild=1&keywords=holographic+cardstock&qid=1598145267&sr=8-48, www.amazon.com/Glitter-Transfer-T-Shirts-Holographic-Crystal/dp/B07CK8K52Z/ref=sr_1_23?dchild=1&keywords=holographic+cardstock&qid=1598145320&sr=8-23.
If you printed these diagonally it would be the same as 'secret rare' in yugioh.www.ebay.com/itm/SPECTRATEK-28-x-40-Holographic-Card-Stock-RAIN-5-Sheets/143622747951?hash=item217095372f:g:HKEAAOSwbbNe1-UA they also have the parallel rare box style and more on eBay.
That could be your printer settings. If you are using Photoshop make sure that when you go to print that the settings say use Photoshop color settings. what you don't want is for the print to use printer color settings.
@@Scalik oh snap! Thanks man! I've been printing mine out using my printers settings and not Photoshop setting. I'll give it a go and hopefully it'll work! Thanks again!

How much would you charge for custom Oricas?
$7 each or 3 for 20
@@Scalik do your prices change in bulk?
@@nathanmeta6769 if you get 8. That is a sheet I can do bulk in multiples of 8 for $50 per 8
How does the texture compare to a normal card?
The back would be the same. But the front is all plastic. So very smooth. It would feel off if you handle cards regularly
@@Scalik just seen one and you can tell when light reflects off the front
Fake cards are never cool. But look cool.

Usually friends bulk. But if you're buying. I try to find the cheapest ones in tcg player.
Have you found a way to do secret rare without a blank secret rare back?
Yes, the new method is explained in the latest video. There's a type of holographic paper that you can get on eBay that very closely resembles secret rare patterns.
Why not just buy foil cards stock and a photo printer and print directly onto the foil, and then cut out the card when it's done???
I do it this way mainly because I want the secret foiling Is it possible to buy secret foil sheets? If so I would love to find a supplier!!!

I want your card sleeves 😍
Its funny because these were just a random pick up from a card shop up in MI. They got some nice texture.
After I did some digging I found one online retailer still sells them. stop2shop.com/gold-bcw-ygo-sleeves.html
When i print in my transparent film it prints super light? Does anyone know why?
That could be your printer settings. If you are using Photoshop make sure that when you go to print that the settings say use Photoshop color settings. what you don't want is for the print to use printer color settings.
@@Scalik oh snap! Thanks man! I've been printing mine out using my printers settings and not Photoshop setting. I'll give it a go and hopefully it'll work! Thanks again!
Saludos desde mexico, disculpa una pregunta….de casualidad el papel que usas tiene otros nombres ? Parece mucho a papel ACETATO …así se le conoce en mi país.
Could you do petit moth parallel rare?
Yes.
Do u sell or do orders
Yeah I do. If you want some custom cards just shoot me an email at scalikygo@gmail.com
Tried this i failed miserably
This takes a lot of skills
Skills i dont have :( sadly
I mixed it wrong my scale must be messed up so the paint was seeable through to the front
Glue part is hard to get right too i didnt use loctite bc they didnt have all purpose crystal clear so i used crystal clear gorilla glue it comes out smushed
The transparency paper picks up stuff super easily, one of my copies had hair and bubbles
Cutting with xacto was extremely hard for me even though i had the ruler it wasnt straight I dont know im not artistic it went horribly ziggy zaggy
The struggles are real
What worked for someone dumb like me was i basically print up the transparency then put the foil card in sleeve and transparent on top its not as amazing but its pretty damn cool with a lot less work but yeah i wish i was more artistic i think thats the best i could do
Ooohhhhh... yeah gorilla glue drys really brittle. Definitely not the best choice. I really need to get my updated turorial up for you guys, the way I make customs now it much easier. If you want you can join my discord and I can help you with the process and give you updated techniques.
