A thing alot of people forget is that its actually the oldest park in the Six Flags chain and 3rd oldest in the country after Lake Compounce and Cedar Point. Theyre not gonna throw away a park with that much history...yeah yeah...Geauga Lake but this park is even older than that was
@elitheyoutubeguy obviously. it's the same park and they still honor from time to time like there was an entire Riverside thing during the spring. With the merger I'd hope they would change the name back to Riverside as it was for over 100 years until it was renamed Six Flags New England in 2000
I grew up going to this park long before Six Flags bought it when it was called Riverside Park. I rode the Cyclone 100s of times before it was renovated into the Wicked Cyclone and the Thunderbolt which I believe is still there. The area where Superman is was a racecar track and concert venue. The freefall drop which was called the Hellevator only had 1 tower when they first put it in. Also there was a single loop coster called The Black Widow. You climed several flights of stairs and the coster literally went down a hill, through the loop and stopped on the other side and then went backwards through the loop. I have a lot of great childhood memories of that park.
Same. Loved the monorail, the rotor, the log flume, the sky ride and several other rides. Always enjoyed it and have very fond memories. There’s some good RUclips videos of the 80s. It’s a nice trip down memory lane
One thing people seem to forget about Six Flags New England is that they are running out of space to put any major coasters. And who know what kind of zoning regulations might prevent them from expanding in certain directions. Unless they are about to expand into the employee parking lot behind Batman or the preferred parking by the entrance the only real area for expansion is the picnic grove. On a positive note they were spotted taking ground samples from the Goliath plot so that will be an area to watch for now and to see if they make the plot bigger by expanding it to the flashback plot.
@COASTER_CHASER_1 Yeah that's a huge swath of land that it sucks they can't even use. I'm all for using the preferred parking for future expansion. I have a Diamond Elite membership but I'd gladly go back down to parking across the street in exchange for new attractions
I Remember when Six Flags New England was Called Riverside Park I used to go every year towards The End of the summer I went there once when it was Six Flags and I wasn’t impressed whatsoever because it was so Hot I got very sick and it was so crowded 😢
I just went to six flags New England and there was literally no one there, like the lines were completely empty so I rode Superman like 4 times in a row, and when I went on Batman there was no one else on the ride, and before and after they were just launching empty rides it was CRAZY
admittedly the park may have missed a large coaster addition in recent years, however i’ve visited several times in the past year and this is the nicest the park has looked in a decade. sometimes you need to pump the break on large editions and use capital expenditure on fixing park aspects like food, photo ops, pathway improvements, and minor theming additions, all of which SFNE has been big on since Selim Bassoul took over management. It may not be next year we see a new coaster, but the company has not given up on this park at all, and with the upcoming merger i’m sure Cedar Fair will also see the potential this location has for future investment. The area has a lack of major theme parks and over 2 decades of visiting, i’ve notice SFNE pulls guest from all around New York, Greater New England, and even Canada. This isn’t the end, it’s the beginning and it’s up to us to be grateful for smaller advancements made to our home parks!
Also the dirtiest. Every year seems the park spends less and less on being cleaned up. Trash every where. Dirty every where. No cleaning trees leaves pine needles. Soda cups and wrappers around the rides. Oils and grease all over the ride’s mechanical areas( and before answering it’s no excuse. Universal and Disney parks have proper etiquette clean and respectable looking. Every day. )
So well said! This is my home six flags park, and I agree 100%. As a frequenter of this park basically yearly, I have seen those small improvements you spoke of over those years. It really has let the park feel more cohesive and put together. The biggest thing I hope for in the coming years, and with the Cedar Fair merge. Is significant improvement on operations and how the employees treat the park. 1 out of every 10 ride ops actually seems to care about their presence at the park. Hell, last visit, my friend got stuck in the electric gates getting off of Catwoman’s Whip. The doors shut before she was fully out of the station and it squished her between the gate and the fence. It baffled me. But yeah, I see hope with this park, and it still has an amazing, yet small, lineup. Let’s keep it positive!
I went there last last Thursday and there were so many people on a school trip and I was jealous cuz even though I was out of school i would never get a trip there at least I have a pass tho
This was originally “Riverside Park” before Six Flags purchased it sometime in the 1990s. Six Flags originally wanted to build from scratch in Eastern Connecticut near the new Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. Unfortunately people didn’t want any more development there, so Six Flags bought Riverside. It would’ve been a lot better to have a brand new facility.
@@robkrasinski6217 Exactly! I think at the time, local residents were overwhelmed with the tribes expanding, having more power, and the two huge developments. They didn't want anymore. If Six Flags showed up now with a new proposal, I think people in that area and the State of CT would love that kind of addition to the entertainment/tourism industry in Southeastern Connecticut.
I remember dollar days and roller skating right in front, I also saw Evil Kneivel jump like ten cars. Demolition derby. And the races.as a kid then the park had it all.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are having issues with zoning. Being next to a major river is a blessing and curse. Also Massachusetts can be horrible concerning zoning and permits.
The Cyclone was thrilling patrons for decades. Coaster enthusiasts would travel from afar to experience it. Why then, does a park need a new modern coaster every couple years? It would suggest that modern coasters are boring once the novelty of it being new wears off.
its only been called six flags New England for 25 seasons it was Called Riverside from 1912-1999 though originally called Gallup's Grove in 1870 making it one of the oldest theme parks in the US
I dont consider it one of the oldest anymore. A big corporation buys a park, changes the name, removes signature attractions, adds new decor, increases entrance fees, starts charging for parking, and clashes with local residents. Thats not the same park.
It's not that it has "little competition", it's that its biggest competition is Great Adventure and Great Escape. Both owned by Six Flags, both more profitable because of on site lodging which is more in line with Salim's vision for the company (we see this with investments like Bobcat).
@@George_bonnaire Lake Compounce doesn't even qualify as competition. There's no reason someone would go to Lake Compounce over SFNE beyond having a Palace Platinum Pass but not a Six Flags pass due to where you'll go later in the season AND being an enthusiast that has been to SFNE but not Lake Compounce living within a few hours of each at the time (can you tell that overly specific explanation was me the week I graduated college lol). A lot of the steriotypical Six Flags pet pieves are true about Lake Compounce (glad I essentially got several hours of ERT on a Friday in May the park was open a full day to allow a bunch of schools 3 hours in the park) and with the removal of their skyride up the mountain Boulder Dash is really the only thing of note. Wildcat was ruined in 2017 by the removal of the buzbars (even if Gravity Group turned it into something as good as Wooden Warrior the classic charm is gone. At least Thunderbolt at SFNE which is also ruined by 21st century modernization isn't expected to be an anchor ride. It may be my #4 in the park because I prefer it to the clones but that's very different from being the #2 ride in the park), the caroucel is one of the worst I've done using recordings rather than a band organ and running on a slow setting (cheapness that has Six Flags written all over it), ironically built by the same person who built the world's best caroucel (Santa Cruz, although you probably know the bells and whistles that thing has to make me declare it the best in the world). And of course, 1 train ops.
I’ve been to all three six flags in the region and Lake Compounce when I lived in CT.And Great Escape is no competition. If I’m in CT or western MA I’m not driving to Great Escape for a day trip without coupling it with other attractions in the region. It’s just not a great park and New England is closer. Great Adventure is competition but I wouldn’t want to drive around NYC for it; it’s not worth the headache and even now that Great Adventure is my closest Six Flags they are having their own issues this season and I’ve been going to Dorney and King’s Dominion instead. If I still lived in CT I wouldn’t drive all the way to Great Adventure right now. Lake Compounce is their real competition in which to be honest I think New England wins because they just have more. But it’s possible that could shift in upcoming years as it sounds like they fixed Wildcat so now there’s one more rideable coaster. They still need more rides though to really compete.
@@ninjagirl226 Wildcat was ruined in 2017. I'm a sucker for a classic woodie, but I'm also one to get more mad than anyone else about replacing buzbars with either modern ratchet bars or Millenium Flyers. I also care about skid breaks vs friction breaks, another 21st century failure with Wildcat (Thunderbolt also has these as 21st century failures, Yanke Cannonball is the last classic woodie in New England. Sad to think about loosing those 2, along with Flyer Comet (2006) all after the turn of the century). If Gravity Group made the ride on par with Wooden Warrior than it's a good ride, but the classic still went defunct in 2017.
@@urbex_coasters I hear that Wildcat is now ridable. And to the GP that’s all that matters. I still feel the pain from riding it in 2021 if it’s fixed then hallelujah
It started going downhill the very second it stopped being Riverside Park. That park was the greatest park in the world and you'll never change my mind on that fact.
Yeah great time, I used to be a tire guy for Joe Bubaco in New Britain “ racing with Jesus “ we would get in free being part of the crew , couldn’t do much except stay with the car. But after we’d gulp down brews Such fond memories, if memory serves me right if you paid for a race ticket, you’d be able to go into the Park without paying for entrance fees, yes those were great times. Seekonk , Thompson speedway Take care 👍
The sad thing about SFNE is that it was the only park I wanted to travel to back when Wicked Cyclone was announced. I described it being insane and the vibrant orange colored track looked awsome. After Joker was added, nothing was special was added after 2021. I was surprised that they didn't even anything new this year when SF released their announcement video for the first time in almost 5 years. Seems like they're blacklisted from their priority list. If 2025 doesn't become the year to get their next coaster, then I say that they'll likely have to wait until 2030 in order to get a brand new coaster.
Most people in this area travel to The Big E or go to the beach instead of those 2 aforementioned parks. Big E probably gets as many people in 3 weeks during the fair as Six Flags NE gets all summer.
I think if SFNE removes flashback or blizzard river, it could free up some space. Also, I heard that they got rid of the bonsai pipelines, which I was surprised because I would think a waterslide like that would be very popular.
I haven’t been to Six Flags New England (or any amusement park for that matter) in several years. I went to SFNE both when it was Riverside Park and under Six Flags ownership and rebrand. Went on the Superman ride when it was new. My parents took my brother and me to Playland in NY and Six Flags Great Adventure before Riverside/SFNE. I’ve also been to Canobie Lake Park as an adult (not sure why we never went there before).
Well, SFNE's next coaster has been announced--and it's a family coaster, but seems like not a bad one. As many people have pointed out, Six Flags could probably add nothing there for the next decade and still get a lot of visitors, because there's nothing close to its size in the region. But, on the other hand, the company clearly wants to attract a more family clientele, and *there*, they're competing with the small parks. I actually think that after Quantum Accelerator they should consider putting in a major dark ride--some of the Six Flags parks have them, but SFNE doesn't. It's a category where Santa's Village and Funtown Splashtown are beating them, and it's the kind of thing that attracts the customers they want. They're limited for space, but there are some filler rides they could take out without making too many people sad.
Going up the big hill on Superman while looking out on a beautiful view of the CT river is the best! For the first time though in years, I did not buy a season pass last fall and did not go this summer, they were too expensive. But, after they swore multiple times that they had already put out "the best sales of the season", they came out with an even better deal ($59) for the rest of 2024 and all of 2025, that hooked me back, bought passes again. It really does have a great collection of rides, especially roller coasters and now the new one is coming in 2025. Lets GO!!
Absolutely. I've been saying this for years now. And removing Flashback is addition by subtraction IMO. What a pile of trash. Give us a launch coaster please
I had been a season pass holder for seven years in a row, but the park started getting so damn crowded after they introduced the monthly season pass. It took us over an hour and a half to get food, and the midways were so packed you could barely move. It was so miserable that my girlfriend and I decided to not renew our passes again, which worked out well considering the next year we got hit with a global pandemic
Six Flags New England is based on a certain size property that makes it small, they can only expand by tearing down something. Unless they can purchase existingly used land, they can't grow more than the have.
That's the problem with a lot of parks including the one near me run by the former Cedar Fair now Six Flags since they merged, they have Steel Force, Talon, Hydra, and now Iron Menace, the township has a height restriction plus they only have so much land to build on. There is some empty land that they own but not sure if it can be built on. There are a bunch of parks that are landlocked like Kennywood, Cedar Point but on the other hand Kings Dominion seems to have a lot of room to grow with undeveloped land around the park.
So disappointed that fireball was damaged beyond repair, loved that one. Also the kontiki??? what happened to that?! Went to take my friends to it the other day and it was GONE D: anyone know why? or what will replace it?? Really loved that ride growing up. There was never a long line because it was hidden :)
A hot dog at this park costs 16.99 and you dont even get any fries with it! You have to pay an extra 2.99 just to get fries! Keep in mind, this is just a regular hot dog not foot long nor jumbo (2024)
this is hardly specific to Six Flags NE. Montreal is in much, much worse shape. What ARE Six Flags' priorities? hoarding their money apparently. I'll ask my kids who are going there this week what they thought. I also don't agree it's the only competition, but that may depend on where you are. Canobie Lake draws pretty well for my area, and it's not worth the longer drive to SFNE if you just wanna have a park day. I do agree it is in need of updating and a new coaster.
I wonder if things will improve at SF parks since they merged with Cedar Fair, a better run company and the CF CEO is the head of the new company called Six Flags Entertainment using CF font. I live near a small park that the former Cedar Fair bought in July 1992.
I mean, I think you could say this for most six flags parks in 2024. I think with the reorganization with cedar fair, things will be looking up. Either that, or they close the park, which I’d give a 10% chance of happening. I’m not too worried.
I work here rn. Dayum. Edit: We are getting a new coaster next year called “Quantum Accelerator” and it’s gonna be in Crack Axel Canyon. Like right near the entrance to it.
No particularly. Six Flags operates from the beginning of April through the end of October. Plus, they are now open for a few weekends in December, and I heard they may be doing new years events. New Englanders dont care about the weather.
I had been to SFNE countless times. The Superman coaster still thrills me to this day. The mind eraser is good but can be a bit rough at times. The Batman is very good & smooth and its SFNJ counterpart is very similar but 2x as long. The Thunderbolt is still a good ride assuming it is still there as I have been absent from the park for a couple of years. The old cyclone was too rough for me to enjoy. When it was updated to the Wicked Cyclone that changed completely and is one of my favorites. I tried the Joker that looks like a green ribbon and I didn't really get much out of it 🤷 The 400' swing has a good view but I don't enjoy dangling that high up by a small chain...sorry, not my bag. I find the Catwomans whip to be interesting and family friendly. The Pandemonium is nice, too bad it isn't longer. One of the things that was removed when SFNE opened was the racetrack where DC town is. This is much missed by those that remember the park as Riverside. Bringing that back would attract a whole new crowd.
As a permanent resident of Massachusetts for all 46 years of my life, I've never even heard of Lake Compounce. We always used to go to Canobie Lake Park just over the NH border. My kids love that park now also. They have put money into parts of the park, but they also gimped the train and sky ride. The water park is great. And they really need to revamp the area with the log ride, pirate ship, and the haunted mine (ride needs a redo also).
Went there for years every Summer because my dad and then I worked for Digital Equipment Corporation and the company had a free day there every year. I haven't been back in a few years now. I need to resolve that issue.
@@TheCookster64 I did the same when I was a kid. My Dad worked for the Mitre Corporation and they had an outing every summer at Canobie. We'd spend the early afternoon in the picnic area where they grilled up all sorts of food and then at two o'clock we'd go into the park when the rides opened. I took my daughter there last October during Halloween Screeemfest and it was so much fun. Just the other day she asked me if we could go back this year. I've never been to the water park. I agree that they need to revamp the rides you mentioned. I remember riding to the Haunted Mine when it was refurbished and redesigned in 1992. It hasn't changed since then.
You cant just compare Lake Compounce to SF. Lake Compounce isnt a thrill ride park, but a "Family Amusement Park" It is THE oldest theme park in the United States. You don't go to Compounce to ride roller coasters. You bring the family to enjoy scenery, learn history of the area, ride a few rides with the kids, and even camp next to the park. The oldest coaster in the park is nearly 100 years old. The carousel is from 1911. Comparing Lake Compounce to SFNE is like saying a model-T car cant compete with a Tesla. Each have their own charms, but on a technical level, of course SFNE will come out on top. That doesn't mean Compounce isn't worth visiting. Its just not meant to be any sort of competition to SF.
I appreciate the video as I grew up going there when It was RIVERSIDE. Hence being next to a River. Not a Lake. The race track was a major draw for it 30 yrs ago.
I used to go there when it was called riverside park back then it was amazing. It had amazing rides great food and car racing. The problem with six flags is that the coat is way to high for no dam reason. It's almost $50 to park an almost $60 to get in PER PERSON
We used to go there all the time in high school in the 90s when it was Riverside. That place was so much fun. I haven’t been there in well over 30 years. And I only live about 20 minutes away.
I’ve been going to Six Flags since 2004, nearly every year, and this is the first year I haven’t gone. Matter of fact, I canceled my Diamond membership that I’ve had since they started the original membership program. The park has nothing new to offer me, they got rid of Buzzsaw, Goliath, and Fireball-all rides I loved! The park seems dirty, many of the rides are closed or broken (Harley Quinn anyone?), and just seems to be in disarray. I agree, something is up with SFNE, and it concerns me and many other coaster enthusiasts…
Six Flags and Cedar Fair merged. I live near a park owned by CF since July 1992. Cedar Fair is a better run company. The CF CEO is the head of the new company called Six Flags Entertainment in blue CF font.
Six Flags New England is not lakeside, it's riverside. It's right on the Connecticut River. In fact, when I was young, before Six Flags took it over it used to be called Riverside Park.
@@ephgm I think the first thing the merged companies should do is revert it back to Riverside. It was Riverside for over 100 years until Six Flags changed the name
I've been to this park many times but haven't been in a couple years because I got tired of it being overcrowded, dirty, and not getting new investments I'm interested in. I'm not a fan of most flat rides, especially the big & tall ones (I prefer traditional fairstyle rides or dark ride experiences). I've noticed that Six Flags as a chain has been opting for huge flat rides that are scarier than your average ride (think giant pendulums and tower swings). Additionally, Six Flags has gotten more and more generic & smaller with their coaster additions. Outside of Wicked Twister and Superman, there's nothing at this park that impresses me. Great Adventure is actually their biggest competition even though it's also a Six Flags Park. I think the merger will see many of these mid tier parks get forgotten about for many more years to come.
Luckily I haven’t gone since 2013 I’m planning on going so I can check out all the new rides so to me it’ll be different than what I’m used to for sure. I went when Goliath was new they’ve added quite a few things since then.
The problem about SFNE is that it's too far out. No mass transit going out there and people not willing to drive that far. Canobie, the Cape, etc is much more do-able for people.
I would argue with you on that. Its not "too far out". The park is right next to Springfield - the third largest city in the state and the fourth largest in all of New England. I wouldn't drive to the cape if you paid me. Boston to Chatham is about 1 hr, 45 min. Boston to Six Flags is only 15 minutes longer. If you want transit, take the Lake Shore Limited Train or FlixBus. You can also grab a greyhound/peter pan from Worcester, Boston, or any of the major stations. (for me, SFNE , Canobie Lake and Lake Compounce are basically the same distance. about 90mins.)
It’s my home park! Honestly it’s alright but there’s just not so many rides to choose from. I go on like the 4 big rides there like once or twice then get bored! Compared to other parks like Great Adventure or Magic Mountain where they have plenty of more rides to choose from this one isn’t as fun anymore.
They need a RMC raptor or a B&M dive that’s kinda like Yukon striker maybe a little longer though. Because they could get rid of flashback to make space for a new ride. And they could get rid of cat woman’s whip and make a new one that’s a launch family coaster.
I haven’t been there since 2015. And sadly after they got rid of the coupons it went down hill. They had bring your friend for free for a day. It helped bring business with some other people buying the pass. And the food is expensive and even the pass is expensive. And the joker ride was extremely short for the line it had when it first started. And you know what what Bring buisness back is bring rollcoaster trivia back. (A game back from the early 2000’s) where people anwser trivia questions on amusement park rides. Or have the vr attractions again.
There is going to be a new coaster in 2025 in place of the big boomerang one (i forgot the names okay..) There is also fright fest which gets a lot of people going to six flags
Six flags new england is just fine. It sits right smack in the middle of the metro srpinglfield mass and hartford ct areas. It's also within a very commuting distance from Boston and providence and draws crowds from as far as upstate ny and Albany area. It's a very profitable park for Six flags. The problem has to do with the chain itself. Six flags has been cash strapped for years and their focus has been their flagship parks like fiesta texas, magic mountain and great adventure. Right now the chains' focus is closing the cf merger. I think once that transaction is closed and with the influx of CF management, things will change for the better and the park will get a little more attention.
well, i got covid and ended up in the hospital after spending the day there a couple years ago, with that being said.... the park is also not well maintained. it is gross. they need to spruce it up.
They need more in the way of Thrill Rides. Not everyone (AKA Me) can brave a roller Coaster. Or just revert it back to Riverside Park and Bring back the Log Flume and Pirate's Cove Ride.
The Cyclone was the last wooden coaster in the country, perhaps the world. Might’ve been the biggest as well. It thrilled patrons for decades. Nothing will ever top it. EVER. Part of the thrill was standing in line watching the structure shake as the rides ahead of you went and building up your anxiety over how safe it may or may not be. THEN you get on. And it threw your body like a rag doll as it went around bends and dips for what seemed like too long when it gives you a breather at the top of a high part where it slows for a bit. But no, you’re only half done being abused by gravity and inertia. The second half is just as intense if not more so. When it was finally over you had the confidence to face any danger from then on. It should’ve been part of Navy Seal training. There was nothing like your virgin ride, you spent the rest of your life seeking that first time thrill-scare and nothing measured up. After Six Flags bought Riverside Park they committed the abomination of reinforcing the structure with steel. It was never the same. Eventually they destroyed an historical American icon because it “cost too much to maintain”. I guess nobody told SF that theme parks are a big investment. Later I did try one of the steel modern coasters. It was so smooth, safe, short and boring they should’ve called it “Commuter Train”. I felt cheated. No fear for my continued existence, not even any bruises to bear evidence to how much fun I had, so I concluded I didn’t have any. But I’m GenX so that tracks with our life experience. There’s no description for the disappointment. I rarely go on amusement rides anymore. There’s no point.
I live in Agawam home of six flags. It used to be Riverside amusement park. It was a fairly large amusement park that was f a mile run and very, very well. It's now an overpriced dump. Save your money and go anywhere else.
6 flags n.e. borrowed millions of dollars to make improvements and revamp the park after the pandemic. They fine tuned all the rides. Thinking they could get people to go, they drastically lowered their all admission fees. Season passes including parking were $65. The turn out was lower than expected. Now, 2 years later, and in debt by millions, 6 flags n.e. has increased their day passes $45, season passes $69, $110, $175, and parking passes $55, $70. The rides are not as tweaked and the experience is underwhelming. They removed Goliath and haven't put anything new in it's place. We went once this year, because its a lot closer than n.j. and there's no lines. Lake compounce is even closer to us, but they don't have as many thrill rides, and most of the rides at L.C. are spinning rides, which aren't great in the heat.
Six Flags has been struggling for years and 2020-21 really did a number. Now they have quasi new ownership thanks to the Cedar parks merger. Sure new funding but now that money has to be spread to even MORE parks!! And while New England does….okay…it’s not Texas or California. Money is always spent on the bigger more popular parks. I haven’t seen numbers so idk which Six Flags are underperforming but I think New England will be fine at least compared to a few others.
It's not that they have too many coasters. 6 or 7 of them are either generic or boring. As an investment, park companies have realized investments don't bring back huge returns. So, instead we get next to nothing year after year. The places that get huge ROI are the destination parks like Universal or Disney. Heck, even Hersheypark or Cedar Point see huge bumps with new rides. Places like Six Flags NE aren't on most people's radar.
I’ve been going to this park since it was called Riverside and I can tell you the last time I went (2021) it was an absolute shit show to say the least. Completely overpriced and unorganized. The employees were useless and unbelievably rude. It was easily my worst theme park experience and I haven’t returned since. Make the trek to NJ and thank me later because that park is infinitely better in every aspect.
That means for those of us who live west and south of NYC, don't bother with a long drive to New England unless you really want to go to Canobie Lake or something. Would Canoble Lake and Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT be better parks than Six Flags NE formerly Riverside? Canobie is almost like a Knoebel's, but next to a lake, and probably cheaper than a Six Flags. Six Flags parks are for thrill seekers who like tall coasters, and Cedar Fair parks as well, Cedar Fair and Six Flags merged to form Six Flags Entertainment with the CEO of Cedar Fair the head of the new company using the Six Flags name in Cedar Fair font. I live near a Cedar Fair now Six Flags park, Dorney Park. The former CF bought Dorney Park in July 1992, it was family run before.

On a positive note they were spotted taking ground samples from the Goliath plot so that will be an area to watch for now and to see if they make the plot bigger by expanding it to the flashback plot.
Picnic Grove won't work cuz the land there is unstable.
They've looked into it before. It gets marshy down there apparently.
@@Posirep I know it floods a lot down there. And that just hurts the space they have even more.
@COASTER_CHASER_1 Yeah that's a huge swath of land that it sucks they can't even use.
I'm all for using the preferred parking for future expansion.
I have a Diamond Elite membership but I'd gladly go back down to parking across the street in exchange for new attractions
only option is probably parking garages.
They have one area where Goliath was, there is definitely another spot I'm not thinking of, but they could also take down some trees near sky screamer
I Remember when Six Flags New England was Called Riverside Park I used to go every year towards The End of the summer I went there once when it was Six Flags and I wasn’t impressed whatsoever because it was so Hot I got very sick and it was so crowded 😢
Riverside was great. Mind Eraser and Cyclone all day.
Me too I remember Riverside park when I was little
So, you were not impressed because the weather was very hot and you were sick?? Sure, let's blame it on SFNE.
Never went to Six Flags and I never will. I refuse to tarnish my memories from the 80's and early 90's.
I just went to six flags New England and there was literally no one there, like the lines were completely empty so I rode Superman like 4 times in a row, and when I went on Batman there was no one else on the ride, and before and after they were just launching empty rides it was CRAZY
I was there the day before and the wait for superman was 2 hours
Weekdays VS weekends
No rerides even if rows empty when I was there. Not that they expected it to stay that way for long. Monday in 2018.
I went like two weeks ago too and every line was packed to the max
Weekdays? Because whenever I go on a weekend, I wait for at least an hour for Superman
admittedly the park may have missed a large coaster addition in recent years, however i’ve visited several times in the past year and this is the nicest the park has looked in a decade. sometimes you need to pump the break on large editions and use capital expenditure on fixing park aspects like food, photo ops, pathway improvements, and minor theming additions, all of which SFNE has been big on since Selim Bassoul took over management.
This park could really benefit from a decent launch coaster
Its gett8ng a launch coaster that has 2 launches
i went to six flags new england yesterday for school field trip it was dope
I went there last last Thursday and there were so many people on a school trip and I was jealous cuz even though I was out of school i would never get a trip there at least I have a pass tho
I went on June 13
BRO SAME
I went for my bday with my cousin my mom and 2 friends goated time
Go to 6 flags nj n ull wish u never went to that trash park
Riverside Park as it was called before 6 Flags ruined it was amazing.
it was, I miss it
I think Goliath's removal was unexpected and unplanned so now theyre just waiting before deciding what to add in its place.
i mean the ride was on hospice for like 5 years, rode it once in comparison to attending the park countless times
You’re ignoring Supergirl in 2021 and Dino Off Road Adventure in 2023. It’s been doing just fine.
True but it’s nothing major that SFNE fans was hoping for
Brother nobody cares about them rides, dino off road adventure was just a reskin of the older ride 💀
They've also removed Fireball and Kontiki in the last couple years too....and Harley Quinn has major issues they keep slapping band aids on
@@Posirep Fr, love harley quinn tho, it shuts down alot cuz people bring their phones out
supergirl is fun the dino thing tho is a cool idea but just a reskin
This was originally “Riverside Park” before Six Flags purchased it sometime in the 1990s. Six Flags originally wanted to build from scratch in Eastern Connecticut near the new Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. Unfortunately people didn’t want any more development there, so Six Flags bought Riverside. It would’ve been a lot better to have a brand new facility.
Why do people hate development, because it brings more traffic and people to an area?
@@robkrasinski6217 Exactly! I think at the time, local residents were overwhelmed with the tribes expanding, having more power, and the two huge developments. They didn't want anymore. If Six Flags showed up now with a new proposal, I think people in that area and the State of CT would love that kind of addition to the entertainment/tourism industry in Southeastern Connecticut.
I remember dollar days and roller skating right in front, I also saw Evil Kneivel jump like ten cars. Demolition derby. And the races.as a kid then the park had it all.
This park needs to tear down Flashback as well and used the combined space to build a big new launch coaster
I literally live about 2 miles down the street from six flags “riverside” in agawam and never go. It hasn’t been the same since six flags bought it.
New coaster just announced today lol guess this didn’t age well! Or maybe this video made them announce it haha
lol
It's not that it has "little competition", it's that its biggest competition is Great Adventure and Great Escape. Both owned by Six Flags, both more profitable because of on site lodging which is more in line with Salim's vision for the company (we see this with investments like Bobcat).
Lake Compounce is their only real competition
But after we’d gulp down brews
Such fond memories, if memory serves me right if you paid for a race ticket, you’d be able to go into the
Park without paying for entrance fees, yes those were great times. Seekonk , Thompson speedway
Take care 👍
The sad thing about SFNE is that it was the only park I wanted to travel to back when Wicked Cyclone was announced. I described it being insane and the vibrant orange colored track looked awsome. After Joker was added, nothing was special was added after 2021. I was surprised that they didn't even anything new this year when SF released their announcement video for the first time in almost 5 years. Seems like they're blacklisted from their priority list. If 2025 doesn't become the year to get their next coaster, then I say that they'll likely have to wait until 2030 in order to get a brand new coaster.
Their top competitor is lake compounce
Most people in this area travel to The Big E or go to the beach instead of those 2 aforementioned parks.
Big E probably gets as many people in 3 weeks during the fair as Six Flags NE gets all summer.
@@nellingwood2 The Big E is literally just a couple weeks in September...
They usually get between 1.5-2 million guests in that 2 weeks too. If SFNE invested more maybe they'd get more guests to go.
What is the Big E?
I think if SFNE removes flashback or blizzard river, it could free up some space. Also, I heard that they got rid of the bonsai pipelines, which I was surprised because I would think a waterslide like that would be very popular.
I want Flashback to be removed to free up space. I love Blizzard River

I went in June and September of 2022. Both times it was closed
New coaster announced for 25
I haven’t been to Six Flags New England (or any amusement park for that matter) in several years.
Lets GO!!
I’m hoping they announce a new coaster next year. Use the areas from Goliath and Flashback
Absolutely. I've been saying this for years now. And removing Flashback is addition by subtraction IMO. What a pile of trash. Give us a launch coaster please
Meanwhile new jersey keeps getting new ones, first new jersey dare devil, then Medusa, and now the flash.
Medusa isn’t new
I had been a season pass holder for seven years in a row, but the park started getting so damn crowded after they introduced the monthly season pass.
My best guess is that theres not any coaster is because there’s not much space to build one
You do not need to add a new roller coaster every two or three years. They have many coasters now that are great.
There is also Canobie Lake Park in NH!
I mean, I think you could say this for most six flags parks in 2024. I think with the reorganization with cedar fair, things will be looking up. Either that, or they close the park, which I’d give a 10% chance of happening. I’m not too worried.
They're running out of space to put things, unless they can find a way to expand.
I work here rn. Dayum. Edit: We are getting a new coaster next year called “Quantum Accelerator” and it’s gonna be in Crack Axel Canyon. Like right near the entrance to it.
Another challenge is the weather. In New England it is only good for an amusement park between late May and late September, barely 5 months.
No particularly. Six Flags operates from the beginning of April through the end of October. Plus, they are now open for a few weekends in December, and I heard they may be doing new years events.
New Englanders dont care about the weather.
last year i went and it rained, got refund tickets but i didnt go so i am hoping my parents bring me this year🤞
I had been to SFNE countless times.
Its just not meant to be any sort of competition to SF.
btw the added super girl sky flyer, not a roller coaster but still really fun
Six flags america is in trouble
I appreciate the video as I grew up going there when It was RIVERSIDE. Hence being next to a River. Not a Lake. The race track was a major draw for it 30 yrs ago.
What is going on in New England. They are losing coasters left and right.😢
I used to go there when it was called riverside park back then it was amazing. It had amazing rides great food and car racing. The problem with six flags is that the coat is way to high for no dam reason. It's almost $50 to park an almost $60 to get in PER PERSON
They charge for the water park now which is crazy cause before they never used to do that
We used to go there all the time in high school in the 90s when it was Riverside. That place was so much fun. I haven’t been there in well over 30 years. And I only live about 20 minutes away.
They need to take care of their very first park. Six flags over Texas. All the rides can use a fresh coat of paint
Allot has changed since you made this video. The park is slowly becoming better now that it's owned by a new company
Six Flags and Cedar Fair merged. I live near a park owned by CF since July 1992. Cedar Fair is a better run company. The CF CEO is the head of the new company called Six Flags Entertainment in blue CF font.
Will you chill out we're getting a new ride this year they're doing environmental testing in Goliath plot
Wait fr?
Six Flags New England is not lakeside, it's riverside. It's right on the Connecticut River. In fact, when I was young, before Six Flags took it over it used to be called Riverside Park.
@@ephgm I think the first thing the merged companies should do is revert it back to Riverside. It was Riverside for over 100 years until Six Flags changed the name
The previous venue that was purchased was called Riverside.
It all went down hill when they changed it from Riverside
They said competition because in this area there are no amusement parks
Luckily I haven’t gone since 2013 I’m planning on going so I can check out all the new rides so to me it’ll be different than what I’m used to for sure. I went when Goliath was new they’ve added quite a few things since then.
So technically any theme park can be destroyed
I used to be Riverside, we went every summer in the 80's and 90's
It’s my home park! Honestly it’s alright but there’s just not so many rides to choose from. I go on like the 4 big rides there like once or twice then get bored! Compared to other parks like Great Adventure or Magic Mountain where they have plenty of more rides to choose from this one isn’t as fun anymore.
I used to love the mind eraser there when it was riverside park. I dont know if it is still there
still is they just changed the name to it and gave it a new paint job is all
Not lake side at all. It’s the CT river. I’ve personally found a body in that section of the river. It’s barely swimmable anymore.
Bro, they litteritly just put a new well themed coaster without removing something...
Pretty hard for a large amusement park to make a profit when its operating just a few months out of a year.
We need a giga
There is going to be a new coaster in 2025 in place of the big boomerang one (i forgot the names okay..) There is also fright fest which gets a lot of people going to six flags
6 Flags New England was better when it was Riverside Park. I loved the pirate water dark ride.
I hated when Six Flags took over. I loved the way it was when it was Riverside Park.
Keep getting messages to buy season passes. I'm like I rode everything last year. And the year before that. And before COVID too! Skipping this year.
Six Flags Over Texas is in trouble too
They need 2 New innovative huge coasters
well, i got covid and ended up in the hospital after spending the day there a couple years ago, with that being said.... the park is also not well maintained. it is gross. they need to spruce it up.
Don’t forget to ride the Jungle Ride...IYKYK
Six Flags New England? Still makes me physically ill to hear it called that. Riverside, for life.
they are putting in a new coaster plans just leaked online will be open 2025 already have a meeting setup with the town to finalize plans
I feel like 2025 we will get a launch coaster
It’s not a good family park either! Not much for the little kids to do!
Oh shit that’s my usual theme park
Same! I love it
There building one this year it is a launch coaster it will be done 2025
THUNDERBOLD COASTER SUCKS! Beware! It hurt my back last weekend! It’s the wooden one.
I’ll be visiting next month for the first time in 7 years. Kinda sad that they haven’t added any new coasters since tho
I mean, the park has way more coasters than the population of the area really needs
This is the only theme park i go to
Where are you from its not a lake side attraction its on the Connecticut river.
what do you mean it’s in huge trouble!!????😊
