    Just one correction, Liskarm at S2M3 doesn't increase her block count, its only the attacks that targets 4 enemies as opposed to 3. Also she only restores 1sp to herself and 1 adjacent ally, not 2, even at Elite 2. Also I've seen some common mistake that says Liskarm doesn't give sp from that talent when her skill is active, which is false

    • @yunan9610
      @yunan9610 3 года назад +12

      @@TheOmniBlade I mean its still a skill, SA blocks 2 but his schwing scwhing attacks 6, not that weird right. And yes with her extra range she can hit approaching enemies even before they're blocked. I mean she uses a gun afterall

    • @yunan9610
      @yunan9610 3 года назад +10

      One way to utilize liskarm's S2 is by placing another operator behind her, it could be chen or even Lappland, which actually works even better in my opinion. Lappland will keep 2 enemies blocked when Liskarm is stunned. And when Liskarm's up there will be mobs stacked in between her and the extra blocker. With liskarm, Lappland is still one of the best stable, high damage dealer, because how her range and skill works. Liskarm can't utilize her talent to full extent with operators that have infinite duration skills like Thorns S3 and Blaze's S2. Since they're up all the time after activation. Liskarm+Lappand is a superb arts damage duo.
      Another combination is Liskarm, Saria with skill 3 and then Lappland. Liskarm will supercharge Saria's skill, Saria will heal liskarm, hence charges her skill as well, and Lappland can still reach enemies with her range. You can use their skills interchangeably, or use all of them at once as arts damage burst

Watching him Akimbo-style shotguns while absolutely melting everything in his path is beyond satisfying. Also, I know it's not relevant to gameplay, but his lore is super heart-breaking. To sum it up, his name isn't a reference to how he kills people - but how he _executes_ orders without question. He's essentially a tool for the Laterano government, and the cost of that was his emotions and free will. Even other Rhodes Island operators are scared of him, and he's trying desperately to feel happiness again, but he literally doesn't understand it. Makes you really feel for him.

    As for my favorite 5-Star, it's Zima no question. My favorite and first 6-star is Siege so I always liked having them deploy together and tank their way through the beginning of stages. @@TheOmniBlade you mean 7 for patriot right? she is one of the more reliable OP to kill patriot, I know that there are other OP that can do it but I am 90% sure that they are all 6 stars. I mean my SA does like a little over 100 damage to him with the mine debuff. Though personally I wouldn't put Elysium on the list as I use the myrtle over him because of the DP cost he is still a really solid pick, especially with the context of no myrtle. haven't spoiled myself with too much chapter 8 content so I don't know if Amiya is needed there too or not I just found that pure damage ( swear the term should be true damage but whatever) is the best way to take down patriot and Amiya is probably the simplest way and the most F2P way. for that reason alone I might have put her on the list as everybody has her. Feedback on the vid since I am replying here anyway, I would agree with ptilopsis being the best 5* unit as she is literally a six star without the level or third ability.(not that she needs it) I would disagree with the point about siege vs texas, as texas ability can also be used to cheat out seige more efficiently so I think that they are both good and are each better in different situations, HOWEVER if you were to argue texas requires less setup (ie a texas passive skill bringing them out earlier) I would 100% agree. Good video and actually informative... unlike another video *flashbacks to tee apple sauce.

    For Silence, in addition to being healing outside of her range, the drone is useful for being an aoe heal, which, while not always useful, I personally found useful against Pompeii.
    Myrtle was my first E2, ever. And she's also one of only two operators I have E2'd (though I have the resources needed to E2 either Weedy or SilverAsh, once I get the battle records and LMD, and I'm not sure which to go for first). I have Elysium too, with a few potentials, but I've not invested in him because, well, Myrtle. Interestingly, my sibling does actually sometimes use Myrtle's S2, because sometimes healing is just nice to have. I don't, I began to Mastery her S1 the moment I E2'd. Anyways, all of that is irrelevant: Myrtle's S1 takes less time to charge than Ely's, but the 4 extra DP still outweighs Myrtle in overall DP/s.
    Texas... I got her quite late in the game, from a recruitment 10 days ago. Meanwhile, Siege was my first 6 star, and I got Chiave back when he first appeared. In my opinion, Texas IS TRA-Okay, not really, but she's not super amazing. Chiave, I feel, probably is relatively overlooked because his S2 is similar enough to Texas with the only major difference (beyond Texas's s2 being a 2-hit, which doesn't matter because of how Arts damage is calculated) being that rather than a stun it's a res debuff (and also there's several minor differences, like slightly more sp cost, dp gain, and damage in Chiave's skill). But his big thing is that Chiave is a damage dealer. His defense is literally 1 point less than Texas's at all levels, and his hp is a little bit worse too, but in exchange he gets more attack than Siege at all levels except for the first 13, plus he makes robots (which admittedly are relatively niche but quite useful for their utility) much more viable and gains stats from their presence. Sure, Texas has an advantage of 2 dp immediately, and stuns are quite useful, but Chiave is, in my opinion, much better if you have even just one robot in your team.
    Astesia is best girl. I don't use her that much compared to most operators, but she is still quite good. Though I wish Absinthe or Asbestos were on this list, or at least in the Honorable Mentions, as their pure arts power is amazing, especially for Asbestos as effectively a dual-class operator that does excellent in both categories.
    Ptil good.
    Anyways, I do get why you wouldn't consider Absinthe, as she's an event operator from Children of Ursus, which was the event I joined in. She's legit one of my favorite operators in the game, and is amazing.

    • @FilthyGaijin
      @FilthyGaijin 2 года назад

      Yeah, Asbestos is so good. Her arts damage decent and combined with someone like Blue Poison barely any enemies get close enough to damage her.
      Astesia is surprisingly good. I got her and accidentally deployed her in a stage and was surprised by how easily she got rid of the heavy enemies. Totally worth getting her to E1 because she now can block 2 enemies.
      And last but not least, because she's my waifu.
      Ptilopsis, I got her in the noob banner and she has carried me through this game. Simply amazing AOE healer.

  • @ian59
    @ian59 3 года назад +9

    I like the video, you do a good job of representing some really strong operators that are woefully underrated as well as many that are popular. That being said I do want to call out some misinformation regarding Blue Poison. It's not your fault, this bad information has been spread constantly through the community since launch.
    First of all, Blue Poison is a good operator, and I have no objections to you putting her on the top 10. However, she is horrendous damage vs high defense enemies, and this idea that she should be used vs high defense enemies is a fallacy that persists in the community.
    I can explain this better on discord or something with the actual math but Physical/Arts hybrid damage is the worst kind of damage in the game. It would actually be better for her kit overall if her neurotoxin talent dealt physical damage. I also believe that some people think that her neurotoxin damage can stack, but multiple hits just extend the duration. An E2 80 M1S3 Blue Poison with 200% trust and her skill active does as much damage to a high defense enemy as an E0 1 Durin with 0% trust and no skill use. BTW half of that damage comes from her physical attacks, which cannot be reduced below 5% (same as any other sniper).
    So why does she do so much damage? Because of her real strengths, range and aoe. For 11-13 DP she is by far the cheapest most economical choice for a sustained aoe dps in the game. You can deploy her way earlier than any of her aoe competitors and hit things out of range of most casters and most aoe operators.
    Because of her range and aoe there are some situations that she can be used against high defense enemies. Like annihilation 3 where multiple enemies come out at once with high defense, out of range of many casters, and stand still for a long time letting her low dps kill them. However, even in this fringe case, she has to be like E2 level 40 to survive vs the drones laser beams because of her low hp. So you could just use an E1 55 greythroat and E1 55 caster to the same effect by rotating them.

      I agree... but about the Ptilopsis vs Nightingale thing. While Ptilopsis is more universal than her, I think Nightingale doesn't look that good because we don't NEED her yet. She is most likely better than Ptilopsis in higher lvl cc or ch. 8.... but there is no doubt that NG is niche since she only give res buff. But then again, it's pretty much useless to compare them both since they are so different. What's your thought on this ? ( this reply has nothing to do with your comment btw lol)

      In anni 3 my E2 lvl 30 BP is enough to survive the drone and turret damage though I dont know the real minimal lvl to do so. In this stage I prefer her over my lvl 55 E1 Platinum as she struggles to kill some of the later ennemies.

      @@lordtartaros3738 That's fair, I was comparing her HP to the equivalent level Grey Throat HP. At E1 55 Grey Throat has 1165 HP.

      @@muazash3712 I think Nightingale is very underrated. Though it's hard to compare her to Ptilopsis who provides offensive support for your whole team. I think a better comparison would be to Specter actually. Both of them suffer from the same problem of being able to out level the content with other operators. When the hardest stage of Ch 7 recommends E2 lvl 30 operators you don't need extreme defenses like Nightingale and Specter provide.
      People call Nightingale Niche but her "Niche" has been useful in the hardest levels of every non rerun event in the last 6 months meanwhile Specter hasn't had a great use for her Niche since CC Beta. At some point when you use a "niche" in every event, is it still niche?
      For sake of argument I'll list specific examples:
      Darknights: Trivializes DM-EX-8 CM, I just had to activate her S3 over SA while he schwing'd and I took out all of the casters at once. In general she made that event trivial since the casters were the main threat.
      Wolumonde: Her phantoms can take over towers. Extremely useful in TW-EX-6 CM, TW-EX-7 CM and easier stages of course.
      Ursus: Her phantoms are amazing vs bomb tail drones. Great for SV-7
      CC: Great for the bombtails in abandoned high rise (though I typically run that map with no medics). Great vs the ice casters in frost covered ruins. Great vs the acid spitting slugs in Desolate Desert. Great vs the spear thrower leaders in new street. Great vs the casters in barren plaza (though this is another one I rarely use medics). Great vs the arts drones in east armory.

    Imo, beeswax is also probably one of the best characters, or at least fairly early game. She has basically been my entire win condition throughout episode 01 and 02. Her ability is incredibly useful for every tank and she wipes every normal character. Even bosses like in the last level of 02 don't stand much of a chance against her ability when you pair her with a healer and defender.

    just to clarify, there is a difference between dodge and resist, though they are fairly circumstantial.
    1. resist can ignore pure damage, as long as there is no damage type specified (try using hoshiguma in a poison mist map and see what happens)
    2. resist ignores effects that come along with the instance of damage, like debuffs or elemental damage
    3. effects that are based off of dodge are not triggered when damage is resisted, and vice versa (like if you tried using croissant and flametail/jackie together)
    4. resist also still triggers defensive charge or activation effects (ie. liskarm passive)
    in lappland's case, the issue isn't that they have two words for the same thing, but that they used "resist" when her s1 is a dodge

    lappland was the first 5* i got from the newbie banner and she literally carried my ass early game along with siege, ranged guards are so damn useful when you don't get any snipers for a while lol. also my first e2. the silencing is a godsend even if it isn't as good now, at least they're still using spiders at times like in the newest annihilation map. and even then i still find myself bringing her more often on maps than silverash, the dmg from s2 is so good. idk i'm biased though i love her
    and besides, just look at her skin animations on the battlefield... so sick
    edit: i do think it sucks that she gets shafted for her silence though but i understand it takes out a lot of the challenge with enemies, i think it should still be a thing but, instead of completely silencing abilities, it should maybe just make them less effective, like making the exploding guys have a smaller explosion range or something, or the sarkaz casters and defense crushers a shorter duration of their bind/stun. this doesn't apply to everything of course since idk what to do about the agents with their -block for instance

    Great run through, not quite as good as Watch Mojo's but great nonetheless ;)
    Main missing operator for me would be Meteorite - but I got her as my first 5-star and have used her extensively since. Not too many maps where you can't find somewhere to make her work.
    Also always found it a bit strange that people leave out the specialists due to being "situational", I get that Projekt Red is pretty much a heli-dropper but both Manticore and FEater are more than useful through a lot of the later story content (of course almost required for CC runs)
    For me BP and Texas would probably drop out - I do love both units, I just find I don't seem to use them anymore. BP is so heavily outclassed by Exu and Texas is pretty much just situations where I need her stun - and even then there's Red instead. Made easier for me though because I was lucky enough to get Bagpipe on her banner and both Myrtle and Elysium's dominance recently.

    Very good video, you definitely know what you’re talking about. I do have some notes from a meta perspective, though.
    -As you acknowledged, Silence is so straightforward that she’s a pretty inferior option compared to the other 5+ star medics. But of course she is definitely still a very good medic.
    -The reason Shamare is so much better Pramanix is mostly because of the global range of her doll, though Shamare’s debuffs are also probably better. Not needing to be near the enemy to debuff them is super useful.
    -Texas isn’t really meta anymore... insofar as that most endgame players run Elysium-Myrtle-Bapgipe, which basically bypasses the need for normal vanguards entirely. Of course, she’s still useful if you aren’t at endgame though (though she is surprisingly squishy)
    -Also, I think I’d disagree with Executor being an honorable mention (unless it was just for the joke), though explaining why is really hard given how unique he is. Basically, his strengths probably aren’t enough to make up for his range, attack speed, and very high DP cost.

  • @kathymei7959
    @kathymei7959 3 года назад +3

    Great video, really appreciate the love for arknights. However, I would like to drop some opinions on the texas vs. siege thing.
    It's true that texas has a really useful talent and her s2 deals ranged crowd control. However, there are 2 reasons that I use siege more than texas.
    1: at E2, siege is tankier than texas.
    It might not seem important at earlier chapters, but siege's E2 talent gives her both a defense and attack buff, which allows her to be tanky and also deals okay damage. The enemies and the dogs at earlier chapters don't have a high attack, so the difference between texas and siege isn't huge. However, in later chapters such as ch.7 and 8, the first dogs and soldiers would deal more damage. At this point, most of the times Texas just can't tank them for a long enough time, while siege does okay and also manages to defeat them with her S2.
    Which brings me to my second point:
    2: Siege's S2 has a natural advantage over almost all other vangaurds(before the bagpipe&flag system came along).
    The thing about Siege's S2 is that it gives small amounts of dp over small cooldown intervals, unlike most other vanguards, which mostly give large amounts of dp over larger intervals. Sometimes, the problem is that after the first burst of dp, your vanguard can't provide dp or attack buffs over a long interval, which makes deploying your other units harder.
    Siege's S2 completely eliminates this problem. She gives a steady stream of DP and damage, which in my opinion makes her the most reliable traditional vanguard in the game.
    Oh, and also about the 3 dp advantage texas has over siege.
    As we all know, in arknights, high rarity operators cost more dp than low rarity operators, but I have never seen a stage where only low rarity operators can beat but high rarity ones can't.
    In other words, if you fail a stage due to a 3 dp gap, something's wrong with your strategy, not the operator.
    Personal opinion though. Again, appreciate the video.

      Siege got heavily powercrept… So no one uses them anymore. Texas however… Everyone can get them for free. And only one operator does their job better and that operator is Sora. Even then. Sora isn’t a perfect replacement for Texas. Texas just does well in what they do.

    Since i have Perfumer, and Nightingale. I find it hard to me to choose Ptilo TBH. You might argue Ptilo has great heal, the best AoE heal rate. Also helps with SP generation. But the thing is my team always built on each operator should be able to hold the battle for a prolonged time without a healer. Not saying they don't need but, they less need the heal. So i opted for Perfumer since shes cheap to deploy, also has global regen. Her S2 global regen potential is severely underrated.
    She often a solo medic for the entire operation at my service.
    As for single target medic, i phased out Warfarin for Folinic. Able to dish out damage is more important than being able to buff IMO. As she can operates independently. Whereas you need a partner to be buffed first, to get the benefit of it. If your placement right, Folinic can both heal your operator and damage the enemy at the same time. The damage she deal could potentially equal to the benefit of the buff Warfarin provides. As cherry on top, Folinic is a tougher medic compared to Warfarin with max HP a little less than 1800.
    My best 5* will be Texas, BP, Red, Specter, Elysium, Folinic, Scene, and Manticore. Sorted from the most used, the last three are situational. The rest of team usually 6* or 4*. Click is my favorite 4* now.

      Ptilopsis's SP regen boost, though... that's faster DP off your vanguards, faster charging on key skills like various S3s, and so on. Her talent at E2 is what makes her the best medic operator in the game.

    • @edhikurniawan
      @edhikurniawan 3 года назад

      @@Axterix13 I'm aware her charging would be beneficial but if i had to pick less healer on my team. It usually down to Perfumer or Folinic. Because healer doesn't kill the enemy, except Folinic.
      I know this is a fallacy but, I've been into the game since the game open without Ptilopsis blessing and still able to clear the most content so far. You can clear with Ptilo as well ofc haha.
      One thing i like from Perfumer and i believe Ptilo can't do the same, is to heal operator where they shouldn't be able to receive such treatment. Either because the terrain restriction, deployment limit, etc.
      i.e. Do you remember the stage to farm the pink ticket to buy Ethan, Breeze, or the ampoule thing? At the top right corner, theres enemy mortar. I placed Eunectes there and she survived until the end, just by her own regen and Perfumer's.

    I love Texas but I have to say that while she's good switching her placement with Shamare is more accurate. Texas early into the round is very good but after you finish setting up she's less useful. Her rain of swords has great cc(crowd control) value but the time between skill procs takes too long to be consistently reliable. After getting Myrtle her dp generating isn't as important and most of her usefulness came from her talent and her cc. When you reach your deployment limit Texas likely going to be one you replace, her staying power isn't good enough for me. She's too different from Siege to really make a comparison but Siege you can trust to hold a position even when the tougher enemies pop out, She can even be a main dps with skill 3 but no dp.
    Shamare is ridiculously good, while being useful from the early/mid to late into a lvl. Her debuff turns challenging enemies into annoyances and can work for entire groups of enemies so she's still useful for cleaning up pretty much any mobs. She's an enabler of brute force that lets everyone do better. Her skill up time is really good so there isnt much time when you arent using her skill. Her skills consistently available for you to use instead of having to save, time, or helidrop Texas skill 2.

    A few random comments:
    1) Liskarm. She uniquely is the only defender capable of attacking flying units, though she won't prioritize them over other targets like anti-air snipers will. Still, her 2 range attack gives her more tactical flexibility than most defenders and while she won't perform at Meta-Tier for ultra-hard content like Contingency Contract, she is plenty sufficient for the rest of the game's content.
    2) Shamare is better than Pramanix in most situations because of the Attack debuff from her second skill. There aren't many of those, and none of them have the tactical flexibility that Shamare's does.
    2b) On the subject of Pramanix: She's rarely used because Res shredding is better handled by other units (Ifrit Passive, S3 Saria) and while strong on paper, Pram is stuck in this awkward position where she's kind of a Caster and a Supporter but without any synergy between the two. (unlike Angelina, who offers the best of both in a Supporter's body)
    3) On BP vs Platinum.
    "Most maps don't last long enough to surpass DP's". This is a pretty common argument against Platinum's S2, and it's largely unfounded. Most maps last around 3-4 minutes, trending towards 5-6 minutes as you get further into the game. (event grinding maps tend to be 3-5 minutes at double speed) Platinum is an anti-air sniper; one of the cheapest roles and one you're most likely to deploy early. I'd say 90% of the time, you can make use of Pegasian Sight, and it's a damned impressive skill.
    3b) Funnily enough, both Blue Poison and Platinum end up being better at the anti-air (drone) role than their 6* counterpart, Exusiai, because of how defense works. Exu's raw DPS is incredibly high, but most of it is from her attack rate rather than her attack stat or skills. BP and Platinum both offer consistent high alpha damage which makes them much better at punching through high defense. For that reason, I strongly recommend getting both trained up.
    4) The only real drawback to Lappland is the auto-activation on her S2. It has this nasty habit of wasting usage uptime mid wave. Keep a SP battery near her to ensure you don't lose out on her skill when you need it.
    5) Specter: In high difficulty content, Specter's role is NOT to kill bosses, but to stall them for other, stronger units to finish. Her damage is solid vs groups, but largely negated by bosses post-Chapter 3. Incidentally, this is the real reason Blaze is super popular; she obliterates entire lanes by herself thanks to the absurd damage buff she gets on her S3; it's much, much higher total damage than Specter's.
    6) Texas is a fantastic vanguard, but is nowhere near the "best offensive vanguard in the game". Bagpipe, Siege, Reed and even Vigna (a 4* on-kill vanguard) all out-perform her for damage. Sword Rain is a solid skill, but you're grossly overselling it compared to other skills. (Siege's Aerial Hammer has well over three times the DPS of Sword Rain per target and a similar DP generation rate lacking only the latter's coverage and stun.)
    Texas' true strengths come from her solid stats, making her good pretty much everywhere and her passive, granting 2 DP just for having her on your squad. That said, almost nobody uses her once they have Bagpipe and Myrtle.
    7) Completely accurate, for a change. Ptilopsis is insanely useful since she only does two things (AoE Healing and SP generation) and they're both really good.

    I'ma throw hands with whoever thinks Texas is better than Siege,
    (Stats are at E2, Level 1, not E2 Max, 0% Trust)
    (If we are including 100% Trust, Siege still has slightly higher attack by 2 points, AND STILL +8% from talent)
    Siege has higher defence (30 base +8% from talent 1)
    SIege has higher attack (12 +8% from talent 1)
    Siege has MUCH higher HP (300 more HP, From about 1.3k Texas to 1.6k)
    Siege has better DP generation (Assuming both are Skill 2, M3) Thanks to other talent (Siege generates extra SP from nearby enemies dying, But EVEN WITHOUT THAT, They are the same generation, 3DP every 10 seconds for Siege, 12 every 40 from Texas)
    Passive talents:
    Texas: 2 more DP at the start of a match
    Siege Talent1: All vanguards (Including herself) get +8% Attack and Defence buff}
    Siege Talent2: Siege gets 1SP when an enemy dies in the 4 surrounding tiles (Siege does NOT need to kill them)

    Sadly, Warfarin's second skill isn't super useful a lot of the time, due to the randomness of who she buffs, though she herself, of course, always benefits. But that means the more operators you have for her to potentially heal, the less chance the character who would benefit most gets the buff. Also, you can't have an operator solo a map if Warfarin is out as well. That's duo'ing. That said, I quite like her. She's a great healer, and her SP thing is a nice bonus. She's also useful with characters like Mudrock, for while she can't heal Mudrock, she can give her SP (though not for any mobs killed by the S2), which means more hammer time. If I want a ST healer, she's usually my first choice, a fine balance between healing power, utility, and cost, though Shining is used often as well, for her defense buff.
    Personally, my favorite five star not on this list is Asbestos. High hp, high resists, and her S2 makes her a very potent defender, and she does things six stars can't, because there's no six star arts defender yet. Ranged, AoE arts damage, coupled with a high defense buff, and it lasts for a long time. And when facing arts using enemies, recharges super fast as well. But sadly, she does have her downsides. The big one is her DP cost. It's high, only topped by the unique six stars defenders like Mudrock and Eunectes.25 DP at E2, unless you have her potential boosted. But even at max potential, 23 DP. Though this is often offset due her ability to clear out trash pretty quickly with an early S2 activation, meaning you don't need DPS quite as quickly. Second to that, she's a character that really wants you to invest in her. Her S2 is what makes her great, and that means you need to E1 her, and ideally E2 her, for improving her SP talent and so you can up her S2 to M3. Still, she's my most used defender, alongside Saria. A five star defender that can be used to tank some of the biggest, nastiest mobs in the game, while also being useful to cut through packs of enemies... and swat down the occasional flyer. She competes with the six stars of her class... not too shabby.
    Also like Nightmare and Absinthe. The former's S2 is a bit of a master class in how not to design a skill, with all sorts of poor decisions, but I still like it. The latter, well, I like her Han Solo blaster, her S1 making her hit like a truck, and her ability to finish off the wounded. Both, though, are not the best, power-wise, and I know it, but regardless, they're favs of mine.

    texas is great and all but idk if "best offensive vanguard" isnt too high praise. bagpipe is just so good, and i've personally found siege more useful than texas as well. the stun on texas' skill is nice, and the fact that it hits air helps a lot, but there are a lot of maps where siege can deal with the first couple waves on a position and texas just cant, because her continuous damage output is nowhere near siege s2.
    edit: also all the 5* specialists are pretty good, aren't they? i thought you'd mention at least one of them.

    I’m not sure if this is correct but resist and dodge are different.
    Some attack have extra effect on them, if you resist it you will still take the effect but if you dodge it you won’t.
