They brought pizza from a local place, donuts, and all kinds of snacks laid out on tables. Even a volleyball team showed up! I still own a hand knit beanie a lady gave me. Wore it all the way to Afghanistan and a year later on our way back to Maryland. I still remember these people and is one of the most memorable moments I cherish dearly.

Essential base personnel was the reason. I got hand picked to go in Aug. 1991 as follow-on forces. Just because my record was clean. A good deed NEVER goes unpunished! Anyhow, it all worked out.

My father knew that MC hym at Peliliu, Guadalcanal, Soloman Islands, Leyti and a couple more. His commanding officer was Chesty Puller. Scout Recon. Thanks, Dad ! Miss you
@Salvador Vizcarra Say that to the face of a Marine,,,you illiterate pos.
In 1962 at Parris Island, we were taught it was the “Marines Hymn”, NOT THE MARINE CORPS HYMN, and sung it proudly!!!

My dad was a marine. I learned the hymn and how to salute before I could speak plainly. If someone asked what my dad did I would say " he a maween" proudly. He was a hard man for a little girl to live with. But I always was proud of his service.
Thank you for his service and you endurence.

WOW, BROUGHT BACK GREAT MEMORIES OF GROWING UP MARINE CORP AT CAMP LEJUENE, MONTFORD POINT NOW NAMED CAMP JOHNSON, THE AIR STATION, AND VISITS TO CHERRY POINT AS WELL. STANDING AT ATTENTION EACH TIME OUR FLAG WAS RAISED OR LOWERED, HEARING TAPS PLAYED FROM FAR OFF, AND FIVE LITTLE KID IN THE BACK OF MY MOM'S CHEVY BEL AIR, NO SEATBELTS OF COURSE, NO A/C OF COURSE AND SINGING THE MARINE CORP HYME AT THE TOP OF OUR VOICES! WOW
I was in 3rd grade on base at Camp Lejeune, 4th & 5th at the school at Montford Point. 6th, 7th, and 8th grades at Cherry Point (50's and early 60's). Then, my dad was in Okinawa and then on independent duty, then to HQMC, then Viet Nam, then back to Camp Lejeune. He retired when he was in the Norfolk, VA, area...not sure exactly where. He was in for around 30 years. I remember the traffic stopping on base at Camp Lejeune when taps was played.
Your service and time and efforts are deeply appreciated thanks for keeping us safe out there job well done you should be proud appreciate you guys thanks ! Joe
I was born a little bit off Camp Lejeune, NC when my dad was a Lieutenant Colonel in the USMC. His last rank was Colonel before he retired.
congratulations
Thank you for your service! May God Bless each and every one of you.
Music to my heart ❤️
I went through this airport on my way to Afghanistan. Residents of this town are some of the sweetest folks I have ever met.
Thank Aman for those kind words, we still "Greet" the Troops but due to COVID we can no longer have a ceremony or give anything to the Troops bit we are still going to the flights to let the Troops know that we appreciate them.
Gave me thrills! So proud of my nephew who is a PFC with marines. He just graduated boot camp on 9/17! Maddox we love you and are so proud of you! He survived boot camp in spite of fact his dear grandmother died just three weeks after he left for boot camp! The second anniversary of his dad’s death occurred while he was at boot camp!
Brought tears to my eyes!
Utmost admiration and respect for all branches of our Armed Forces. God's Blessings on each of them.

It's respect.
Thank you soldiers!
So proud of our patriots!
You do not realize how much you are loved and prayed for!
Thank you 🙏
My dad and one of my nieces were Marines! Fine job guys and thanks for your service!
I attended church on Parris Island when my big bro' was about to graduate boot camp there. They sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic near the end of the service. It touched me to my very core! I enlisted in the Army less than 2 years later. I knew I wouldn't cut it in the Corp. I SUCKED at pull ups! That was 1989. Then came Desert Storm. He requested to go and was denied. Essential base personnel was the reason. I got hand picked to go in Aug. 1991 as follow-on forces. Just because my record was clean. A good deed NEVER goes unpunished! Anyhow, it all worked out.
I love to play that song on my piano in honor of my Uncle Erich who is a retired major in the Marine Corp. He fought in the Korean an Vietnam war

I served in the US Navy aboard an LPD which carried Marines and their gear. I carry away from that a great respect and admiration for this brave group of fighters!
I love to watch them .they are real heroes.GOD BLESS THEM ALL.
We are so lucky to have the military we do. Now more than ever we have to cherish it.
In elementary school, we had a school teacher who constantly reminded us on Assembly day that she lost all her family men in the war.
As a result, she made us learn and sing all the military songs of all four branches of the United States of America military.
Linda Beth Lawson,
At the church I used to attend before the COVID-19 pandemic, we had international day wherein each of the twenty nine countries sold their food and did their ethnic skits.
I, the American, played 'THAT'S A GRAND OLD FLAG' on my Bflat clarinet.
Linda Beth Lawson,
We need something like this in all of our schools. Along with a decent civics class. Knowledge of our world and how to behave has been lost in my opinion. Bring back Civics and Geography with a taste of culture and food for each group represented in each class.
Good for her.
