I love how in the first evrytime Mycroft tried to talk bad about Enola Sherlock got defensive it shows that he cared the entire movie even though he never really saw her growing up.

What he means is that he doesn’t want her to turn into what he has become, as being a detective can be dangerous sometimes,as he wants to protect her, Sherlock wants Enola to be her own person, he knows he is a rolemodel to her, but he wants her to live the life style she wants, not something someone tries to make for her.
He doesn’t want her to go down the same lonely road that he has. This movie showed her learning to accept help from people unlike Sherlock has been able to in the past. And in the end she sends him a roommate in the hopes that he can learn to accept help as well.
