57:21 - here too. it makes sense if he's just...practising and having fun learning oh shit, i think this is Serral handicapping himself that's why the game against Ryung, he made a show of it these are self-imposed handicaps so he can have more fun, like in a sparring session - if you're better than me, you can have more fun if you tie a hand behind your back it'll make it more competitive and we both win this is Serral doing the starcraft version - 'here man, I'll just go knife against your sword and shield. it's much more fun for both of us'
I think their ceiling is significantly lower than Zerg or Terran's. If it weren't, we would see them win more tournaments. Serral will not likely play Protoss because he knows that dicking around with Protoss in high GM is one thing, but premiere tournaments are another thing entirely. Protoss are too slow at that level.
@@IfritMiraZ Yeah it's a tough ask, because you just know all the best Protoss are labbing their asses off to try to make something work. Likely they'll need a patch to help break that ceiling. Shifting one or two of the stalker's bonus damage vs armour over to their regular damage could help without breaking much. Having less dps than an unstimmed marine is a crime!
Genuine question for anyone: In game 3, Ryung has a very strong mass tank army for several minutes until Serral finally gets a wave of broodlords online. My question is: at this point, with 15 tanks, why not just unsiege them all and use them like bulkier mauraders? They have good single target dps and still kill ultras with ease after all

Who in the community says that Winter is a bad caster? Is is quite literally one of the best, personally at this point i would rate him a bit higher even than Lowko, though this might be due to the fact, that they tend to cast the same games and Winter ususally is a couple of days faster in casting them, so i watch him.

I think more and more that some playstyles just work very well against others, its not only who is "best". Serral beats everyone, but he seems powerless against Clem. Clem recently got multiple time beaten by Reynor, who against other players is not atm at the same level as Serral. Maru gets destroyed by Serral, but takes GSL after GSL and looks pretty strong against other players then Serral and Clem.

I feel like game 2 really highlights how much Thors need the vehicle weapon upgrades against mutas. Vehicle plating is absolutely less of a qualitative improvement for the army as a whole than weapon upgrades in that specific scenario. Plating upgrades are not useful against mass mutalisks since no amount of plating will stop a medivac or widow mine from being one-shot by 20-ish mutas. Comparatively, iirc it only takes 2 shots from a +2 Thor to kill mutas without armor, and the splash is significant enough that the whole flock will be dropped into autumn health range, better enabling marines to pick off a few. I think the mistake is an understandable one to make though, since in most scenarios he would want to get the armor upgrades over the weapons when using widow mines. Mutalisks already force a change in strategy and building different units than he would usually want, thinking about the specific benefits of one upgrade over another is definitely not the top thing on his mind in that scenario.
Serral is just so good. Truly amazing. Sadly he's about to hit the wall for gamers age wise so we'll see who replaces him. I hope he builds a cheese getup since it's always been used against him but he has never really tried to cheese himself!

If Zerg is played like the name implies then every top level player seems to win. I mean my god, they spent what 2 years Not using hydras until Scarlett opened the doors and now the only weakness they had (not shooting up) was solved. To not even employ a solid unit and still achieve success speaks to Zerg being more powerful than it should be. Just my opinion, it may differ from others and that's ok :)

Honestly. I wish there was a way or if they started like this they should have balanced the game to where the Zerg doesn't need creep to fight. Orbitals: - Cost a lot of resources to build - Cost more resources to upgrade - Take time to build - Take time to upgrade - Are fairly weak/easy to destroy - Take away 1 worker for a good amount of time. 2-3 scans can be more expensive than a single raven. But perhaps they are a bit too slow and/or easy to destroy.
@@reishiki8682 I didn't say to build it first. But in long games I don't see why not. Those pro games it's not rare to see 8 medivacs, half of them empty, most of them with 1/4 or 2/4 energy. And tanks can also be pulled by vipers, and much not easily. But they are still used.

It's actually kind of really sad that Clem's succesful, sad for the genre, that raw speed and moving the mouse is all that matters, because there's such a large strategy deficit at the top level, even high gm you can see abundant room for improvement but it doesn't matter because they're just faster and out micro The biggest issue with Serrals playstyle is you have to trust you did things right the first time whereas high apm you can have that level of insurance but it's just.. it's too much, it's hurts the game as a whole and there's no way to avoid it

game 2, muta ling bane, its an old strat but it checks out.
It's actually kind of really sad that Clem's succesful, sad for the genre, that raw speed and moving the mouse is all that matters, because there's such a large strategy deficit at the top level, even high gm you can see abundant room for improvement but it doesn't matter because they're just faster and out micro
The biggest issue with Serrals playstyle is you have to trust you did things right the first time whereas high apm you can have that level of insurance but it's just.. it's too much, it's hurts the game as a whole and there's no way to avoid it

@@MrOceansEleven Because Maru wasn't raw apm above anything else. Clem has always been known for the ferocity of his micro, Maru has not.
i don think it's pure APM, Clem gets every advantage he gets, it's not just about APM
@@benismann he rose to top global on near apm alone, when he was starting out, already netting him top 10, that is *his* definitive edge over the competition
It was never what brought Maru or Dark or Solar or Bly up, not Zest or Showtime or Serral or Hero
Raw apm is clems distinct trait, his tech choice so to speak, his specialty
There has been more that differentiated him from top 10 to top 1, but without the apm he wouldn’t be so high, and the apm isn’t something anyone else can just try or pick up, no build order or comp
