      @@thebadbeatbetty people who bet on the dogs can't use the exchange or online bookies as there isn't enough liquidity for them. They can only bet at the track, and value can be found there but it's just more difficult. I bet on horses so there's plenty of value on the exchange, and so there's no point betting on track for horses.

    The 3 biggest tips I can give someone on the dogs is
    1: A couple of minutes before race starts, watch the betting odds and if there is a low price favourite (evens or below) and it's price rapidly increases just before the start. There's usually a good/dodgy reason why and I tend to bet bigger than normal
    2: with the exception of handicapped races, dogs racing amongst each other are usually at the same level and will only have a fraction of a second difference between their best times. Look out for a dog with good form and going to toilet for a number 2 just before going into its trap. Their muscles are more relaxed and they run better.
    3: dont go to the tracks and stay out of the bookies.

    It's interesting reading the comments here, they fall into the "I don't know what I'm talking about so I'll follow public preconception of gambling" camp and the "I understand betting and know professional people make a profit" camp. The first issue is … Gambling or Betting? Both apply, it depends on attitude. If you bet on Trap 3 because you fancy the dog may win (or you like it's name or it looks nice in those colours) then you are a gambler, you are playing a game of chance but, if you bet on Trap 3 because you have researched the race and your chosen dog and assess that the odds offer 'value' (I'll come onto that) then you are a bettor. You can gamble that Trap 3 will win or you can bet that it will. For those who don't understand betting 'value' is the difference between the actual probability of a runner winning and implied probability resulting from the odds offered by the bookmaker. You still won't win every race but if the actual probability of your selections is higher than their implied probability you will make a profit in the long term. A professional bettor never expects to win every bet. They are happy to lose 4 out of 5 bets and only win one if the odds are 5/1 for that means they have made a profit. Value arises because the bookmakers odds in the main are market driven, they do not reflect the bookie's opinion of the runner's probability, they reflect the odds required to balance their book so that they will attract custom by being competitive but also produce a profit regardless of which runner wins. May I respectfully suggest that those who state "mug's game", "Bookie always wins", "only win back what they previously lost" etc. actually learn something about the subject before making their proclamations of fake news!

      You could be right about him being more of an 'addict'. But professional gamblers don't necessarily just 'brush off' £800 loss. The fact is, losing is always frustrating/annoying. But it's just part and parcel of the game, what his reaction tells me is his stakes could be too high for his bank roll. I am a professional gambler and I won't ever have that much on a single selection. I do a lot of selections so I can spread my risk more, I do that for several reasons.
      However I don't know his situation, nor his approach. The other factor here is he is embarrassed as it's on camera and he's trying to show he wins, and has failed. However in my experience it's always better to keep those things to yourself. There is no advantage to showing others you win, other than stroking your own ego.
      One thing I can say is that there is a lot of information in dog racing if you know how to extract it, a lot more so than in horse racing.

Won by 15 lengths or more, Opend 8-1 backed into 5-2 fav. Apparently this dog was taken from a London track, slowed down in its trials, and graded much lower than his real ability.

Firstly sending an Amateur in who does not understand betting percentages. That 500/200 bet he placed was diabolical value. 2nd fav =5/2 when there is also a 3/1 and 7/2 there. They bet 7/2, 10, 5/2, 5, 3, 2. which is 133% ( Freeze it @ 51 seconds ) so no value at all and on Betfair they bet to 0% NOT 33% but you pay up to 5% Commission (mine is 2% ). OK if the betting board shown after the big bet race is the race they had the big bets on .. it's race 11 the 21:16 at Crayford on 26th March 2019. The race was actually won by trap 2 and trap 4 Pennylane Roddy started 9/4F and finished 4th, it received significant interference in the race. Regarding the footage that purports to be that race .... the start looks legit as the early sectionals for the race are consistent with the way they jumped and the 4 is in the race. The vision down the straight at 2:09 is clearly from the following race, race 12 the last, which was the only race to have a vacant box and it was box 4. They obviously needed a shot and unfortunately the only race left on the card had the 4 as a vacant box. The side shot at 2:11 also seems to be a race with 5 runners so would appear to be the last as is the back straight footage 2:16. The footage from 2:20 purporting to be the finish of the big bet race appears to finish 5-6-2-3-1-4 this matches the finishing position of an earlier race, race 4 the 19.23 on the same card. So the finish of that has been edited in as the finish of the big bets race (note the guys aren't seen). As for the shot of dog 4 at 2:40 that we are supposed to believe is the 4 Pennylane Roddy they backed, well Pennylane Roddy is a Black Dog so that's obviously BS as well. Hope that clarifies what we actually see.
    It's also interesting that the first bet we see is 200 on trap 3 - this bet is on Topper Rocky in Race 5 the 19:38. The in race footage looks OK but the across the line footage for that bet actually has box 3 winning .... because it's the finish of Race 3 the 19:07. Bit poor using a race where the losing bet box actually wins.

It’s a very cruel industry, with the dogs being drugged, kept in small kennels without comfort or toys, treated as commodities, exploited and often put down, shot, sold for medical research or sent to China 🇨🇳, maybe ending up as dog meat. Some greyhound “owners” may be better than others, but it could still involve a lot of cruelty. I am not a professional gambler by any means but I could improve Jordan's gambling tactics very quickly. 1) never bet with the onsite bookies, always look for the best odds online via betfair/smarkets etc to maximize profits. 2) You are better off placing what are called 'lay' bets. Instead of betting on a dog or horse to win which only gives you a 1/5 chance of winning (or however many dogs or horses are running) instead bet AGAINST a dog or horse to win. Do your research and pick the worst dog/horse and bet against them winning. Sometimes upsets happen but it's like betting AGAINST Sheffield United beating Liverpool in the premier league, 99/100 times Sheffield get smashed and your bet wins.

    • @jcshay8121
      @jcshay8121 2 года назад

      @@makkavelli3972 Exactly, there is always a downside to any gambling strategy. With lay betting it requires a much bigger risk or liability. To make decent money laying you have to use larger amounts of money whilst doing your research on each race and finding those horses/dogs that are there just to make up the numbers. I normally use a £2000 capital I will look at the form of each racer, let the race begin and then usually let them get a quarter to a third through the race. If my loser is still at the back or looking like their struggling to keep up I jam my money in.
      Being honest I only tend to make between £5 - 10 per race. But I bet on hundreds of races a day throughout the world. So I still make more than the average 9-5.

    • @makkavelli3972

    • @jcshay8121
      @jcshay8121 2 года назад

      @@makkavelli3972 Yes so it's called in-play betting and you can do this on any sport. My recommendation to you would be to sign up to Smarkets or Betfairexchange and start practicing. Learn the lay outs, click on a few races wait for the start time and see what the in-play race updates look like. Then maybe do 10 practice runs where you pick a race and you google the form of all the horses or dogs in the race and pick the worst one. Then pick your horse/dog in your head to lose. Then go back to the race, wait for the start and see the updates and if your pick is at the back or falling off then you say in your head 'okay I place my bet now'. Do it ten times like that and see if you can get 10/10 correct loser picks.

The Exchanges are BACKERS Markets. If you placed your bet on the Exchanges they would bet 5 , 16 , 7/2 , 8, 4, and 5/2.......SAME DOGS.SAME RACE.

    look at racing posts selections for each race they mite say
    Trap 3 win
    Trap 6 danger
    Trap 1 nb
    All you do is back trap 6 and 1 to win singles plus a a RFC 6/1 ..
    Do that every race your see it works well ..test it with £2 stake each race £2 each dog to win plus 50p rfc

Number 4 dog always runs in a black jacket, there is no number 4 running. 1 is in red, 2 is in the blue, 3 is in the white, 4 WOULD be in black but is not taking part, 5 is orange and 6 is the black and white stripes…. Seems they have bet on “Number 4” with 700 quid when “Number 4” isn’t even running. When he “loses” at the end it’s not even an actual bet as there is no number 4 in that race. Either it’s really poor editing or it’s a staged scene with no actual bet on number 4, because it’s not even taking part in that race..

    I was just thinking so a grand down so unless the next bet is even bigger, would have to win a couple of times to put that right. Trouble is with gambling in the early days of starting the worse thing you can do is win, think it’s easy, make an income out of it. You are drawn in, it’s a buzz. I have done many a spreadsheet and when you try to chase your losses boy do those numbers really add up. You need tens of thousands in reserve to bail you out, and that long losing run will finish you off anyway.

    Worked in a betting shop. Saw plenty of punters who would get solid tips on certain horses on certain days and walk away with a few grand not to be seen until they had another big one.
    Then you got the "professionals". Day in, day out; bet a few grand in a day, some days break even, some days lose, some days win a little. If they lost they knew they'd get you soon... and when that 33/1 came in at £20 they danced down the shop floor like they had proven to you once and for all that they were infallible.
    Then you got the guys betting on dogs. Half the time they'd be looking at the screen right until the trap lifted then running at you with their little ticket hoping to put £10 on some hound or other they liked the name of. No form. No skill. No hope.

      Not true, dog racing is the easiest betting to fix and if you are in the right circle is the most profitable as you are betting on a certain (like the tennis), with only 6 dogs racing at one time, and not strict regulations trainers can slow dogs down and then speed them up when they want to win, then load up 1000’s in cash and online when you know it’s racing and get others to do same for % some trainers make £80,000 per race on one of these.
