In Texas I recently purchased a 2012 Tacoma TRD with 120,000 miles. It spent most of its life in Maine and rust was beginning to form on all the welds and bolts. Being a Navy veteran having experience with shipboard rust mitigation, I prayed and researched all the options. Finally, I was led to use a combination of products that will ensure my investment remains rust free from the inside out. I used naval jelly on rust spots that were visible and I spot abraded with a hand held sand blaster until the under-body was sufficient. Then I wet it out and saturated everything with evaporust then the next day de-greased and cleaned with a 3500 psi pressure washer. This process was super dusty and took over a week crawling under the truck. After letting it dry over the weekend, I retouched up newly formed surface rust with naval jelly and coated the frame with rust remover ( 7 cans). I realize that primer is still porous and I think this is an advantage, because I used Amsoil HD MP undercoating as a final application. For the high chip damage surfaces, I coated with gloss black paint ( outer frame front edges and rear axle , hitch ) Since gloss seals I thought it best to only coat one side of an area to allow for a visual inspection annually. the front plate is to be protected with Raptor liner and Im debating on spraying the front hitch surface and exposed wheel wells . Finally, I went through the engine bay and sanded down all the grounds, vinegar cleaned the wires and used diaelectric grease and touched up all the bolts heads ( wire wheel clean, evapo rust treat and heat and oil quench bolts, using anti-seize for heavy bolts) The project is almost complete and I will certainly think twice before purchasing a rust belt vehicle again. Final note: Toyota inspected the frame and declined replacement with out giving me a reason. I treated all inner cavities, panels and rockers. In my opinion, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Comments and advice are welcome. Thanks from John

One question, why is the hoist used to lift the vehicles rusted through? Technically, if there is one thing that should not rust is the hoist where the product is applied.
The lift shows signs of rust for several reasons. It is not practical, nor safe, to spray the lift with undercoating, then drive on top of it with customers vehicles, and raise it in the air. This lift is a high production lift that is constantly wet and covered in salt that is washed off vehicles.
Imagine being so biased against a product you can’t even logically process the fact in your dome the part of the lift that’s rusted is the bottom channel that is not coated n always resting on the damp floor
I remember seeing a Mk111 Cortina which was about 16 years old at the time for sale with the Ziebart sticker on it, exterior paint wasn’t good but the body was great almost 100% rust free… was back in the late 80s..
Has this system plus done on a 80 200sx. They took lights out and parts off to get inside everywhere. Later had to replace a dented fender so I could look at it on inside. No part was not covered with the Z product. They left Richmond Va. for some reason.
just FYI: cars rust mostly from the inside out, and it starts inside the rocker panels from those so called drain holes. because water makes its way up inside and sits between the weld joints and there's no protection or paint inside, most undercoating companies and most car owners dont seem to understand this "factory" flaw, and it the #1 reason undercoatings fail. someone needs to make a device that snakes its way inside the rocker panels and paints on protection. plus sand and rocks from the road gets kicked up by the wheels and sandblasts the outside of the rockers too and they rust even faster and those contact points are always under and towards the front doors and rear wheel well where the rocker panel meets. doors are basically the same way.
They do make it, lots of undercoating spray guns come with a multi directional wand attachment you can snake through frames and drain holes. There’s even aerosol wands you can buy for any aerosol corrosion prevention you wish.

At one time I worked for friends who owned a Ziebart undercoating business. Annual checkups and touch ups were important. Long-time customers with old cars that had been treated since new with Ziebart rust protection would come in for their annuals and there wouldn't be a speck of rust on them. If you intend to keep the car from many years, and live where they salt the roads, it's a must have option. I owned a new Corolla and a new Town Car which I had the Ziebart rust proofed. It got a lot more money for them when I eventually sold them because they were rust free.

Hi Linda, every Ziebart store has slightly different policies regarding their prices, including the price for the yearly maintenance service. This location does not charge for the yearly maintenance.
Hi Alpo25, our undercoating is a permanent coating and comes with a 10-year limited warranty for qualifying vehicles. We also offer free-yearly resprays. While our coating does not drip off like some other oiling products, we still need to check for areas affected by abrasion and mitigate early signs of rust on a yearly basis, and again this is done at no charge each year (at select stores).
Hi, no, we do not sand blast vehicles. We utilize a rust inhibitor chemical that aids in neutralizing rust. This chemical is ideal for vehicles that are not completely rusted through but show the beginning signs of rust and oxidation.
We do not spray over areas that are properly coated. We focus our time on correcting any minor issues that may come up after a year of normal driving. This could involve using various chemicals, compounds, and tools. Then, we clean and reapply our undercoating yo the areas needed.
Hi Johnathan, I recommend stopping by a Ziebart location so that we can review the car together. There may be options to repair the rust before the application.
Lots of sour grapes in every Ziebart video. Jeez. Listen, I have a Toyota Tundra I bought from a friend in Ohio who had this done when brand new in 2011. I live in Indiana and drive my truck every single year in the salt. I’m even bad about washing my truck frequently. Like a few months between washes sometimes. I’ve had it since summer 2017. 12 salted road winters and not one spec of rust underneath. It works. I’m here looking at what I can do to my Sequoia I just got that has some frame surface rust on the welds that I want to get ahead of!
That is correct, except we are not applying the full coating each year. We are inspecting the coating to ensure it is performing properly, looking for (and resolving) early signs of rust, and applying our coating to areas that have chipped off due to pot holes, stone chips, and other physical damage. Our product does not wash or run off like other options.
@@lunaticfringe8559 Our coating creates a barrier against oxygen and water. Rust is the common name for iron oxide, a chemical compound that’s formed when iron is exposed to water and air. When moisture combines with the carbon monoxide in the air, this forms a weak carbonic acid that starts to break down the iron. At the same time, water is being broken down into its separate elements of hydrogen and oxygen. When the oxygen atoms meet and bond with the iron atoms, iron oxide - or rust - results. Ice-melting agents like road salt only help to speed up this chemical reaction from happening on your car’s undercarriage and other exposed areas. We have a bunch of really good blog posts on Ziebart.com, including information regarding our Limited Ten Year Full-Repair Nationwide Warranty on our Rust Protection (for qualifying vehicles).
A big part of rust prevention is yearly maintenance. If you spray the vehicle once and never follow through you are likely to have issues. This is true for many things other than just rust prevention, such as maintaining other parts of your car and your home. Our coating does not wash/run off within a year and is considered permanent but there are scenarios where the coating can be physically damaged and removed.
Pricing and promotions, such as free yearly resprays, vary from time to time and is not available nationwide. Please call your local store for current promotions and additional product information.

So this kind of rust proofing in only for new vehicles? Mine is 10 yo and already has some rust on it. Can it be treated the same way?
Depending on the amount or rust, Ziebart is also effective on used vehicles. Stop by your local Ziebart for a free consultation so they can review the condition of your car.
@@Ziebartrochester where are you located?
@@hermanlopez9074 we have a ton of locations around the US. This video was filmed at our Henrietta, NY location.
Got truck waxed and buffed yesterday in utica, hardly buffed at all and did not wash the top of the truck, let alone wax it!!! paid a lot for it and top not even touched!!
Hi Mark, we're sorry that your experience at our store was anything less than excellent, which is always our goal. We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know about this matter. good luck removing plastic connectors, lines, etc.
Can you do a Silverado 2500 HD it has the GM wax coating
I told them i wanted oil based coating, they sprayed some tar-asphalt oil coating. It better not rust my brand new truck
Whatever happened to Quaker state Quaker coat? Looked like throw up but was wax based.
Can you spray over rust?
Hi I'm Joseph from northern Virginia where we use a lot of salt brine solution in the winter. I'm thinking about getting the Ziebart gold package for my car eventhough it's used. It's a 2018 Nissan Versa in like new shape. No rust, and I want to keep it as long as possible. Also when you apply diamond gloss do you also put it on the wheel covers? If not do the wheel cover and wheels get treated with anything? And what type of warranty would I get with a used car? Thank you
Hi Joseph McLean, each location is individually owned and operated. It is best to call the location nearest to you to answer your questions. Some locations offer applying the Diamond Gloss (or other coatings) to the wheels depending on the condition and material. Best of luck!
Do like some hot rod owners once did. Buy a second car that runs but has no beauty or draw to you and drive that in bad weather. Just a clunker.
Great video! I'm thinking of getting mine done, but must it be black rust proof color? No other color?
I have to pay each year between $49-59 for the re-sprays of undercoat., but i don't have to pay for the entire coating again.
Hi Linda, every Ziebart store has slightly different policies regarding their prices, including the price for the yearly maintenance service. This location does not charge for the yearly maintenance.
Any locations in long island NY? I'd like this done on my ram.
How long does the rust proof last? I have a 2018 Toyota RAV4. Is the rust proofing something I would have to get done every year?
Hi Alpo25, our undercoating is a permanent coating and comes with a 10-year limited warranty for qualifying vehicles. We also offer free-yearly resprays. While our coating does not drip off like some other oiling products, we still need to check for areas affected by abrasion and mitigate early signs of rust on a yearly basis, and again this is done at no charge each year (at select stores).
I wish Zebart had more locations in Ohio.
I am taking my 2002 Astro passenger van to one in Cincinnati, for the rust eliminator and under coating.
Do you sand blast underneath first on rusty vehicles
Hi, no, we do not sand blast vehicles. We utilize a rust inhibitor chemical that aids in neutralizing rust. This chemical is ideal for vehicles that are not completely rusted through but show the beginning signs of rust and oxidation.
Yh but if u add every year it gets thicker
We do not spray over areas that are properly coated. We focus our time on correcting any minor issues that may come up after a year of normal driving. This could involve using various chemicals, compounds, and tools. Then, we clean and reapply our undercoating yo the areas needed.
I have a 2007 h3 hummer with pretty heavy rusting can I still get this done?
I’m looking to have this done on an FJ I’m looking into purchasing. Your comment was helpful, thank you.
That's more a Toyota thing than a Zeibart thing. Galvanized Steel.
Is this considered as a Rubberized Coating?
Hi Jeff, our coating is an oil based permanent coating but it is not rubberized.
Good learning materials
It's permanent but you apply it yearly ?
That is correct, except we are not applying the full coating each year. We are inspecting the coating to ensure it is performing properly, looking for (and resolving) early signs of rust, and applying our coating to areas that have chipped off due to pot holes, stone chips, and other physical damage. Our product does not wash or run off like other options.
@@Ziebartrochester I don't understand how creating a shell around the steel does not trap water which will then cause rust behind the treatment ?
I went there the other day
"Permanent undercoat" come back each year though
A big part of rust prevention is yearly maintenance. If you spray the vehicle once and never follow through you are likely to have issues. This is true for many things other than just rust prevention, such as maintaining other parts of your car and your home. Our coating does not wash/run off within a year and is considered permanent but there are scenarios where the coating can be physically damaged and removed.
Great video you did hell of a job 😊👍🏼
In the process of getting my new Toyota 4Runner done. Thanks for the video, btw your cute 😊
better load it up
That's a palisade isn't it?
His hoist is all covered up because he doesn’t want this product on it! What does that tell you?
Pricing and promotions, such as free yearly resprays, vary from time to time and is not available nationwide. Please call your local store for current promotions and additional product information.
I once a fan and a much repeated customer. But they became one of the worst scammers. What needs to be stayed away from is Ziebart. Or you’ll be sorry… Just my actual experience reinforced by others.
PS. Why is their lift looking like it’s rusting away.
Doesn't this material build in moisture and hasten the process of rusting and corroding the vehicle? Yeah, I'll pass
$10 can of fluid film does way better
That would probably negate the 12 year rust perforation warranty offered with new vehicles
Hi Steve, many manufacture corrosion warranties are automatically negated for vehicles that drive in salt. Please carefully read your warranty, it is more than likely to not be applicable if you live in New York or other areas that use salt on the road.
I just watched a video on the garbage, i woukdnt touch this stuff, ever, it hold moister in, rust from the inside out
Hoist rusting!! 🤔

This is a great product, care about our car this get the areas that you will never look at
Don’t do this..
I would never spray that garbage on my vehicles !!!!!
