I came across your video and went out and bought the baby wipes that you suggested to use and I my god what a difference it's made to my fingerboard, this was the 1st time I have really given my guitar a clean like this thank you for sharing this video. What grade of sandpaper do you use for shining the frets and where can I purchase the sanding block? Cheers for sharing your tip😊

Good you did this video. Been going through the same thing with a Vester I got used a month ago. It was heavily abused n not much older than that danelectro. Strings had NEVER been changed nor the fretboard ever cleaned. Previous owner played like a lunatic n heavily munched the 1st 4 frets, even the fretboard had heavy pits dug in.
Ooh now that sounds nasty..this is a trick to pull pitted would back out, using water in a spray bottle, a wet towel and a steam iron. I used it before on fingerboards
@@theguitarmanifesto I've seen that done on body dents but not fretboards. I may give that a try over the weekend as I'm nearly done fixing it up n really wanting to play that guitar.

My friend had a no-name Spanish guitar (the G had broken and was replaced several decades previously with an electric guitar G string...) and the fretboard was 100 times worse than this - deep valleys and peaks of solid grime, DNA and bacteria millimetres thick. The teaspoon had furry growths of mold on it)! He recently "gave" the guitar to a charity/thrift shop...
