    It is so refreshing, to hear someone explain the reasoning behind a system of personal improvement, in detail, that is rare. Now my respect for this system is greater because I understand it more.

      I highly recommend finding a teacher though. The hands on guidance is vital in the beginning. You may think you're doing a movement correctly but their eyes are very discerning. The importance of building the foundation of your stances and internal body feel is very hard to achieve without a teacher.

    • @nurazhar72

      as a Silat practitioner....i agree with your observation. We move to the dance of the internal energy (you called it as Chi)...moving freely, feeling the presence of the internal energy...resulting in calm, peace & relax state. The only thing in our mind is the presence, remembrance and connection with God. I guess the similarities are quite striking.

    This is the highest art..the spiritual part of silat..to become one with the Source of all energies (this will vanished the ego)..wahuwa maakum ainama kuntum (I am with you where ever you are) Quran 57:4 and (8:17) So the fact is that it was not you, but it was Allah Who killed them; and it was not you when you threw [sand at them], but it was Allah Who threw it, (and the believers were employed for the task) that He might cause the believers to successfully pass through this test. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

    How long does it takes to learn Silat?

    • @satriyanto6741
      @satriyanto6741 4 года назад +2

      it could take your whole life.. it's a never ending in studying and understanding our own body, especially the 5th level. it never ends. we always fight our self all days, so we actually keep learning our self everyday. let's say we master it this day, but tomorrow won't be the same. there'd be always something new in our own self, new idea, new approach, new attempt. Silat never ask us to be stuck in one exact way, but to find anything that useful and effective. That's why, in sparring, we encourage to do more dialogue and discussion rather than trying to beat our sparring partner. May be this a way, and may be there's another way, or it could be this way or that way.
      I believe, even after telling us all of these syllabuses, it doesn't mean that he already finished or accomplished silat itself. it's a never ends in studying. and not just the 5th stage actually. ofc, you need to learn it stage by stage. But everytime you reach the upper stage you always need to restart it from the previous stage.
      For example, after we learn the 1st stage, and then when we start learning the 2nd stage, we need to practice it from the 1st throught 2nd stage. When we start learning the 3rd, we practice it from 1st, and 2nd to the 3rd stage in a harmony. until we reach to 4th stage and 5 stage. The longer you take your time in each stage, the better understanding you have with the concept.
      Unlike any other martial art, there's something like a belt color to distinguish your stage, thought some silat practitioner also do the same thing this day. But actually, there's no such thing in true silat. may be you want to take 5 years for 1st stage only, then it's good for you, or you just rush thing to the 5th stage at one go in one moths or may in just one week, it's all the same. Because at the end of the syllabus, you are going to practice all the 5 stage as a whole through your life, you will always start it from the basic to the 4 stage again and again as a whole, not partially. and we always discuss it every time we spar. There's no ending it that.
      So even after you start learning the 5th stage, we still needs to practice all 4 of the previous stages to apply it for the 5th stage. repeat it again from the basic to the 5th stage as a whole.
      It's an attempt to understanding our self, a never ending process.

    • @satriyanto6741
      @satriyanto6741 4 года назад +3

      for some people, silat means their own life, their everyday habit, their daily activity. There's no exact or origin master in silat. In Melayu culture, there's one philosophy that apply to every thing we do in life including silat, it's "Alam (nature) Takambang (expanded) Jadi (Become) Guru (A Teacher), nature can be a teacher, everything in this universe is a teacher". May be one day you see how bird try to catch a fish, you get an idea an apply it into something useful, or may be you see how a trunks waving around and you get an idea and you apply it into something effective, that's how silat appears. We observe our own body, our surrounding, and learn it.
      so silat is actually human's way in understanding their self and their surrounding. as long as you practice this mindset, philosophically you are practicing silat.

      malaysia and indonesia, some number of silat association have a well establish corporate entity and academia system. Im a malaysian, so i'll be suggesting you persatuan seni silat cekak malaysia, PSSCM. they have recruitment video for information in youtube. They are under a bigger association called PESAKA, that derived of members of various silat association combined.
      Silat in indonesia, I am not familiar, so ask our Indonesian brothers taking part silat over there.
      I dont know the silat used from the practioner in the video. or you can just ask from the instructor in the video, it easier. discipline n sacrificing time, money, energy major role to get thru what u learning in silat.
      if u get overwhelmed by cluster of silat in the region, ask major silat association, the will fill in the details of other silat with good faith because some of their members also joined previous association of silat before joining a bigger association.
      happy hunting

      You're totally wrong. I'm a silat learner in my teens years ago; we do not criticise other silat practitioner as that will only fuel our egos into believing that we are more powerful and arrogant..silat teaches us humility and modesty. To underestimate your opponent is your ultimate downfall in silat. In silat the ones that look the most elegant and soft, are actually brutal and deadliest..
