Losing BP 2 months later after the 06 season ended even 14 years later has been big massive void left in the sport same with Dale's death & even Steve Byrnes as well UNREPLACEABLE NASCAR LEGENDS
Wow. This was an end of an era. The last race for first run of NASCAR on NBC until they returned in 2015, the last race without Toyota, & last broadcast with Benny Parsons until he passed in January
This is one of my favorite races so thanks. By the way, if you or anybody else could please upload the qualifying broadcast for this race, that would also be great.
This Race Marked The Last Of 2 Things: The Last NASCAR Race On NBC Until 2015. Benny Parsons' Final Televised Appearance Before His Death On January 16th, 2007.
BPs final race, well before what should have been. Likely by now (2022), BP would have retired (hed be 81), but I could have seen him hanging around until TNTs final season in 2014, then riding off into the sunset at 73.
Benny was doing this race less than two months before he passed away, while under chemotherapy. What an absolutely amazing commentator and human being taken from us way too soon. NASCAR's John Madden.
That just shows how good he was that year. But at the same time, I can't stand when people argue that Jimmie isn't a true 7 time champion. You win the system you compete in
@@joeywirt7953 I mean if we had a full season points format, Jeff Gordon would’ve been the 7 time champ instead of Jimmie Johnson. Jimmie would’ve actually only won 2 championships and Matt Kenseth would be the 2006 champion by 1 point. If we still had Winston Cup style points, Jimmie would’ve not won his first championship until 2009
"What are we gonna do now?"
"Why don't we go get thrown out of Applebees?"
"Sounds like a good idea."
RIP Benny Parsons

“Let’s go get thrown out of Applebee’s”
The best sign off statement in NASCAR Broadcast History!

This was a sad day because it was Benny’s last race before he passed two months later. RIP BP The King of Cool
Ikr. But he got to celebrate Christmas.

4:27 - Matt Kenseth with Edge’s theme
Randy Orton entrance theme at 2:19:22
Yes
@Chris Bandini. Man that theme was a great theme. I was thinking the same thing. Hey i heard Van Halens Jump before the presetation
I miss when Benny Parsons and Allen Bestwick used to call nascar races.
Jimmie Johnson still would've been the champ in 2006 if there was no chase
Fair and Square
