- Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, might just be my greatest challenge yet. With sculpting, tailoring, and light-up features, should Sideshow Collectibles be proud of their technological terror? Or, has their sad devotion to this ancient Star Wars religion been unable to conjure the statue we were hoping for?

Best review I've seen for this piece! I can't agree more about the lights. Before I pre-ordered it, I chatted with customer service to ask how it was powered. Their response was: it's chord powered. I then instantly pre-ordered it! Then I found out it was delayed by months, and worse still, it is not fully chord powered. Who turns on their battery display pieces? What the crapy Sideshow!
not a Star Wars collector myself, but still an amazing looking piece... your review and video made me like it even more... keep up the great work... thanks for sharing
Jeremy after watching this several times...your comments I feel are justified, I had a very small issues with mine...the Foam Padding around the Lightsaber was so tight it broke off half of the Plastic Ring...not sure what it's called and also the Saber itself didn't go in all the way...so a little frustrated. I was going to leave it but to repeat your words regarding what we paid for him...I have contacted SS and they are now following it up. I have to say though it is a superb piece and just dominates my Shelf but it's Vader...who else better.
I am also pleased to say there are no other issues...so overall very pleased. The Head is Flimsy your right Jeremy, but where it's positioned now it's going to stay right there. I do feel though the switch at the back of the Belt, I feel the more I turn it on and off...it will break...so yes my friend the whole thing should have been WIRED...I have taken the Batteries out of the Belt...shouldn't have too but I am just not going to Tamper with it...such a Shame...this piece could have been EPIC!!

I really excited Jeremy, just to let you know mine Shipped from HK 2 days ago and this afternoon I will be having him delivered to my Work...2 days from HK to NZ so Dam fast but yeah Mate so Dam excited. I have my fingers crossed he comes all as he should without any frustrations. I do as you know have the original DV PF but managed to swap him for the original Darth Maul as he also has been one I have been searching for. I know SS are releasing a new one very soon but I love the pose of the orignial Darth Maul. I still enjoy watching your review...actually surprised there aren't more up to view...but maybe they are still waiting for theirs...or have Issues...hope not,

Hey Jeremy heard from SS and they will be sending me out another Saber in a couple of days which is prety cool...I live in Auckland NZ so might take a week I have to say though mine left HK and was here in 2 days...which is so Dam fast but for now it's just a matter of time before it gets here...so fingers crossed this one will arrive safely and securely,

Hey Jeremy, finally I get to see one as it should be, I really feel for the others that had Issues and hopefully they get their's sorted so it looks as goos as yours. I have mine coming from the US to Auckland, NZ where I live. I just hope I don't have any probs with mine...so my fingers are crossed my Friend. I really do like him but totally understand your Frustrations...one Switch should have Lit it all...I agree totally but I have to say when all the Lights are on he looks Superb!! I have the first release SS did but I think this version tops him and next to Mr Fett he will look Fantastic. I think I am going to replace all the Batteries when he arrives...so if for any reason some of the Light Features don't work...it's a Faulty Issue but like I said before I really hope I don't have any probs. Thanks for sharing with us Jeremy this wonderful piece...mine Shipped out today and should be here by Friday...can't wait...but just a tiny bit Anxious,

Well, due to the enormous edition size on this piece (7,500 😦) they’re still available from SIDESHOW. It is Friday April 27th 2018, and I received Lord Vader at approximately 13:00 hours today...and I’m about to do some unboxing 😬👍. They are selling the hell out of them, my edition # is 6,632 😯
As far as I can remember 7,500 is the largest edition size I’ve ever seen!!
Oh well...I got one...that’s all that matters.
I actually like the loose belt And chest piece, due to the light up features going defect alot. In this way if one light dies u still have the other light ups :-)
Hi, Thanks for the review. I think Ill be getting this item, however I wont be as kind in regards to the light up features in my review. This is ridiculous and inexcusable in my opinion, and yet Sideshow, hot toys and other makers keep doing it. The technology has been out for a very long time now. Have you seen kids logic hovering Delorean? It lights up with no batteries, somehow power transfers from the base without it even touching the base???... thats some black magic stuff there lol
Awesome review. Thanks for putting the effort you did into this! I have the same gripes as you mentioned; thin robe material and strange light up functionality. Overall though, it looks beautiful!
With regards to the light up chest piece, my concern is changing the battery. How would you do it? I noticed the 4 screws on the back. Do you think it's a watch battery? It looks pretty thin.

can hot toys make their sabre this bright, that is the question? but again, you will have all button cells, and they drain fast!
Jeremy you mentioned they are now using a Cathode for the Saber...how long do these last?
The upper grill in the mouth is way off too. It looks solid in the photos

Is it a common problem that the light doesn't work? I bought one new that I will be handing back to the store and a cheap used one that I'll keep, both defective. I noticed that the batteries go in the opposite way than I first thought (+ next to the spring, unlike most products) and I was sure it would work when I noticed and reversed them, but no.
Thanks, I got the pricier one working with cable, still not with batteries. Not tried the other yet, only know what the seller said. Got a Terminator head where only one eye lights up, but at least I got a partial refund on that.
how the pose looks to you in person? Also the look up to the sky? bothering ? Or matches the piece overall look?

I think the HT Vader will be Awesome but my only Gripe would be if they again make you Strip him down and place Switches in the most annoying places then it will be another Failure. I do have this also and to be honest the Pose and the Head at the right Angle makes him look a Beast!!

Yeah me too Jeremy, you made it clear there should be no Excuse for the Light Features and that Dam Plastic Head...I guess though in several years time we will have another Vader and who know's that one might turn out to be a Holy Grail Piece. I do think that if we got the perfect Vader...then no more need to be produced, which Suck's I know but it's just a way to keep Selling and for us to keep Buying. I still am glad I have him though and overtime I really do think 4 out of 5 is still pretty good but for what we Paid he should have been a 5 out of 5...but sadly not this time ... Jay NZ
