In my opinion, the child should not have been used for the analogy. Wasn't empathetic at all. I work with mental health with special needs children verbal and nonverbal ,they have feelings and know when you are talking about them.

Other people in the room also thought they were about to go into a travail. It was indeed praying time. She totally missed the moment. I really felt bad for that child and his parents. This was really a teachable moment. While I don’t believe her intention was to be insensitive, she absolutely was. Another moment that went viral that makes the church look crazy and insensitive and out of order. This was a terrible illustration. When she said, “Oh, but God is going to straighten us out today..” I just knew they were about to pray. SMH Unreal.

the sad part is that her grandson (Mike Todd’s son) is autistic so imagine if she would put her own grandson like that on display. as an autistic person myself who have been used a couple of times as examples for inspiration porn (uplifting my autism as inspiration) i feel for that little boy and not to mention, the outdated language that was used. churches truly need to be educated on disability. there are places and curriculums out there that helps churches how to be inclusive to disabled people.
