My all-time fave band! At the PC reunion I had someone write "DNR" on my forehead. Do Not Resuscitate. Because if I died on the dance floor at a Personality Crisis gig, I woulda died a happy grrrl.
'83 was really their peak in terms of the sheer power of their performances. The scary thing, though, is their songwriting only got better from there. The new material they were trying out on their last US tour is absolutely phenomenal - very dark and experimental. It's a shame that Richard went off the deep end, because one guitar did not do the band's music justice.
His second(?) band, Suburban Slag, had some great songs too, in the vein of the Ramones. Quite a few of those tunes ended up in the Personality Crisis setlist at one point or another. "Matter of Fact" and "Piss on You" are the ones that come to mind right now... the main chord progression of one called "Get Your Guns" shows up in "Mrs. Palmer", too.
What was it - a jazz band? That same criticism was launched against Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and anyone who played rock n roll in the mid-1950s. John Card is a very versatile drummer and he can make any band sound great! These guys were like the Motorhead of Canada, only different, in the sense that no one ever saw them play back in the early-80s as Canada didn't appreciate their music.
Richard Dugauy rad guitar 🎸 player. PC rules, still got Creatures 4 awhile on lp
RIP Mitch Funk
Rest in paradise Mitch Funk

Stonehenge, Jon's earlier band, was far more melodic. Success got to their heads and they vanished. Miss them.
