Definitely considering purchasing Pi 5 now, Thanks Drew!
I love retro games, thanks for the good content as always brother
Excellent video I want this!!!
What an amazing collection. Would love to be able to take this and use it on a mini PC rather than a Pi. Such a beautiful theme.
Good job Wolf
Damn, I feel like the Pi4 never got a chance to shine due to the scarcity at the time and now the 5 is out
It’s worth it I have one it’s nice super nice
@mcfaulmcfaul2883 have you had any issues so far with running images? That was one problem I had on thr Pi4 that was never an issue on the 3
@@TheUsualSuspektyeah but sd card image is easy to corrupt. Better to allocate more bits when you format. Ssd would be better nvme drives also.
The Pi4 had various issues detecting the right display mode/resolution on many TV's when using Recalbox. Even one HDMI Output just died out of nowhere on mine.
The Pi 5 has none of these issues because of the new VideoCore.
yep. ive messed up a few in my time not turning it off correctly.@@craftymulligar
Do you know of any Pi 5 Wolfanoz Arcade Only Images? Also, do you know how to play the Light Gun games on these types of images? I could never figure it out.
on "Goldeneye" - "No audio issues, it's running great, it's flawless" - while stuttering like there is no tomorrow 🤣🤣.
How do you have the front end music pause when game video preview or system preview starts? The default is both play at same time.
Hello im new to the pie scene just ordered my pie 5 was wondering how you would add the image to it any advice?
Got a question what is the keyboard button to exit a game once you are in it. Also is there a place in Batocera that tells you the keyboard button functions?
So is it about on par with the 3 year old odroid xu4 ?
Does the pi 5 run the arcade versions of tekken, tekken 2, and tekken 3 full speed
Do the light guns work on new tv's? or do you still need the old ones to use them on the raspberry pi
Pi5 boots to SSD no issue right? micro-SD no longer needed?
Does the vectrex have the overlays on each game?
Has anyone added Sinden Light Guns to this build yet (Batocera v29). I see v35 has built in light gun support so think its a good idea to use the batocera update? afraid it'll break the build and maybe i should setup the sinden light gun files old way
Would you recommend this over a Mini PC or Wii with Homebrew?
If ive already got a P4 4GB with an awesome 1TB image, is it really worth getting s Pi5?
HELP y can i not get any of these images to run yet had no prob with PI4
I have a 3B+, its time to upgrade!
11:52 there's actually over 10000 DS games. I was collecting them up to about 2010-15 but I stopped when it hit 10K.
WOWSAs, I collect Wii and there is a ton of those too
Thank you for the video, Drew! Was not sure to consider this one, wanted to wait for Rick Dangerous on the Pi5, but it seems like a good choice, judged by your vid. One question: Which one is the game you are playing after Goldeneye in the video at around 21:00?
Dolphin Blue on Atomiswave
Big Thanks!@@drewtalks
I bought my Pi5 at Vilros a while back, in Amazon the price are very high, all the resellers
I got 8GB for $80 and 4GB $60 plus an Argon Neo case for each one 👍
Is there a way to buy the pre loaded sd card on Amazon like there is for the pi4?
don't you have time to download ? ⏲ or you have slow adsl connection ?
Any new Pi 5 images coming? Seems like this is the only image out.
How do you initially connect the controller ? i don't have any wire is there any method or i need to get a wired controlled and hook it up ?
You can use a keyboard and there is setting for bluetooth in the menu but I think you need wired to get there
Very interesting build. I dont have an rpi5 yet, but I will get one. But I wonder, is there a point to getting the 8gb rpi5 for such images / emulation, or is that overkill, and that a ordinary rpi5 4gb will do?
Would be nice to have an rpi5 8gb model for simple desktop / Linux experimenting, and just have a 4gb rpi5 for emulation if that is all that the emulators will utilize.
4gb is plenty for emulation
Are there any decent 128gb images for pi 5?
Can you get sega model 2 on here ?
Anybody knows where or how I can find all these games??
So if I click on the link and buy it from amazon, my question is that-is it a plug in my tv and play or is there more steps, need a computer or laptop etc I definitely want this after watching your video
To answer your question, no, BUT hear me out--. The Raspberry Pi CAN be plug-and-play but only if you have the image set up already on a MicroSD card, but the kit out-the-box is typically just the computer and you have to download an operating system like RetroPie, all the games, and the put them on the SD card with RetroPie. There's lots of videos out there detailing the process, but if you're really looking for classic retro fun, this is 1000000% the way.
Hello.... I am writing to 512gb micro-sd, but when booting, only 14 games or so are shown... seems all the good stuff is under another partition, /media/BATOCERA... but no idea how make them show in the menus of the gaming application... help?
I have the same issue. Reflashed the drive to no avail. Am redownloading it now.
Thanks man. As you stated, an overclock (recommend Turbo setting with a cooler on) as it will mostly help with the slowdowns on some of the 3D heavy platforms. Saturn also runs well without an overclock. It isn’t overclocked by default.
Know the Pi 5 isn’t for everyone but it’s still mostly reasonable and always find a challenge personally in pushing the new ones when they show up. Enjoy!
your stuff is always top notch! one of the G.O.A.T's for sure!
Will this run better booting to an SSD or M.2?
For some reason I can't overclock without breaking the image, I raise it to 2800(turbo) and I reboot and a line of code starts running down the screen over title image, I have reinstalled image to SD card but have been reluctant to try it since....I've thought about trying it via putty (ssh) but I'm nervous it'll crap out for the 4th time. I absolutely love this build but aside from that and inability to get dragonrise and model 3 to cooperate with arcade without delving into the file structure and config manually I'm fairly certain, this is another great build! Appreciate your time and effort!🤘
@@alanharvey9825 Do you have the cooling fan on it by chance? (Just asking because it is definitely needed, this thing gets up to 60C at load without an OC). Part of me thinks some Pi are a “silicon lottery” too because I don’t have issues with mine but I don’t typically overclock anyway, I was testing the turbo setting for a day leaving it on for 24 hours, games, etc. Honestly you’re not going to get too much more out of it overclocking vs the heat it generates.
And greatly appreciate it!
@@Wolfanoz I purchased the canakit 8gb model, thermal paste applied, heat sink and cooling fan installed. Come to think of it I believe we had a conversation on Reddit last year regarding the pi4b and overclocking. In my experience with that model you are correct, the overclocking didn't make much of a difference. So in your testing the pi5 pretty much the same result, thank you for that! I've noticed when looking on putty the temps do get pretty toasty as it sits like you say, better to leave well enough alone. There's far more than enough here to keep me happy on my cade and let my PC do the heavy lifting so to speak, lol.
The GUI on the latest beta of batocera 39 (20240119) gets heavily out of sync when you launch many emulators in one session. If you get stutters in the GUI, it's either your Game Controller polling or a slow USB 3.x Stick. Use SSD-USB Sticks instead. The USB-access part is time critical on the Pi 5. All 8-BitDo Controllers work fine.
I’m having the same issue as well as random complete system lockups in the menus requiring a reboot. It’s pretty random at times
@@ashtonhumphrey3547 Sometimes i get hangups on booting when Batocera is processing the last .XML which is "Collections". Also encountered out of sync issues due to memory leaks? System Bezels start flickering or do not get displayed at all when under heavy Navigation usage.
Is this worth upgrading over the PI4 version? I really liked that version quite a bit. Was curious if this was just a rehash?
Well is PS2, Saturn, N64 playable yet?
@@SAM-ru4vx Hell, even N64 and dreamcast aren't perfect on pi4!
@@zlac N64 emulation all you need is GoldenEye, perfect dark, killer instinct, Mario games 😏
@@SAM-ru4vxSaturn yes, PS2 depends, most 2D games work well. N64 most games are fine.
I dont like the controller mapping it doesn't have the A B X Y is harding to set it up
Hey Drew or anybody whom can help me. Recently got the pi5 and have downloaded this image. I’ve bought a 512gb Kingston micro sd problem I’m having is etcher saying not enough space when writing to sd. The file is 509.76gb my 512gb card is showing 495.16gb I’ve tried using sd card formatter (mac) please please help me. Many thanks Jamie.
yeah i would return your sd card and get a sandisk or samsung...i have had issues with kingston before because they come in just slightly too small
Is it easy to setup an arcade cabinet sticks instead of controller?
yes
can i get this in uk?
Hi, may I know the 512gb sd card link u provided have 18k games included? I need the games including the pi5. Do you have the link,
i would just do it yourself and save a ton of money
Can you please pinpoint which ones to buy then? Amazon link is putting you a general search page for pi5
Sorry not for the pi...IF you want something you can plug into a pc then check my channel lots of options
Where can I get it?
Anyone have the link to the image
Will it boot from an external SSD using an image like this?
Yes, I have it running from a modded Pi 4 case.
hello guys. My issue is how do you copy that 512gb image on a 512gb usb card without getting the error message "too large"
I often have the Same Problem , need only a few Megabytes more , so you should buy an 1 TB Image. If this so on this Image too ?
Did you ever find a fix for this I’m in the same position myself 😢
@@jamietownley6851 No only biy a 1 TB Card, than it works
where is the link?
Is there a way to run this on normal pc rather then just Rasberry pi this is awesome
Technically... yes? You could put this exact thing on a Virtual Machine - or you could just take the games, install the individual system emulators you want to use, and then play the games without the menu.. >.
even with the 8 ream one, it cant handle n64 games?
Just to be able to play Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast, it's worth it!
What tiks me off is I ordered the Raspberry Pi 5 8GB when the preorders first became available last September and I still haven't got it yet.
woaH!!!!! SUPER LAME
where is the link for the download would like to try it

Is Monkey Island on Scummvm?
How do i buy this preloaded for pi5 im getting one monday plz hit me back with a direct link PLZ!!!
download only, its free
@@drewtalksfrom where?
backups or arcadepunks
Where can I purchase fully loaded plug and play?
you can't. You need to get the game image yourself.
Hey thanx for the general information but i have a question i have an old Rp3+ from 2022 that i brought & its a 256g sd card can i just buy and upgraded card with a new clear case thats the model & the newer board chip set so can i just cut & paste my sd card i brought nearly 2 years ago almost I believe I bought it in the summer of 2022 So, how do I get the newer roms sets & the rom image's & scraps Like the killer instinct, GameCube & Wii games cause I believe I have all the remaining ones but not the newe Can you please send a educated video concerning that for people who have Pre-existing older models
Can you just share a torrent to the image and library. I have hard drives
yes name and link in description
MACH 3 on Daphne.... Take my money!
WHERE DO YOU GET THE GAMES FROM??
link in description
Every time ive attempted to overclock this build it goes bonkers on reboot and forces me to reburn the image. Not sure why it has gamecube, wii and model 3 if they lag badly in most cases but overclocking is clearly in the menu but ends up breaking stuff
Do you have a good cooler?
@@drewtalks applied thermal paste, heat sink and cooling fan installed
@@drewtalks I thought of trying overclocking via ssh but I should be able to overclock through BATOCERA menu as I have many times before. For now I'll probably leave it stock cause I prefer wolfanoz over the funktasy supreme build, that thing is loaded with bugs
@@drewtalks Just for reference I grabbed this image from AP
I dialed this in, most GameCube games run really good with CPU at 50% in settings. Model 3 I set the PC frequency to 50 and video mode to 800×600 60fps and most of the games run great, only the shooters do the controls not work great (joystick on arcade)
i tried it out. to be honest, the game selection is nice but it is giving me a headache. Selecting games is a headache, 3d stuff still has frame rate issues, at least on sega model 3 and gamecube.
change the theme!
Where do you get the rom?
Wolfanos and just about every other pre built already has both then roms and the bios files pre installed. That is the beauty of these pre builds. If you want to build your own, just Google your favourite systems ROM sets.
@@gregghernandez2714 Thank you
Does it have doom?
yes
raspberry pi 5 arcade1up image ever come?
I just cannot get the audio to stop flickering out. The image is perfect otherwise. I have a Sony tv and I don’t know what settings.
Try changing the sound settings or a different HDMI cable
this is probably a hot take for some, but i'd rather they remove the platforms that are just too much for the system (Dreamcast, Saturn, Gamecube, Wii, etc) and add more of those that do work well - leaving some space free is fine too, allowing users to add their preferred rare games that most people won't want
realistically who's going to play Saturn games at lags that are borderline unplayable? you'd play them elsewhere if they were a priority
There are a lot of smaller builds out there....get a 128gb build and burn it to a 256gb card and you have 128gb free to add to!
My 512 gb microsd card doesn't fit the image, fml
I WANT IT HOW????
I keep buying these things, upgrading, downloading, hacking.
Truth is I don’t even enjoy the games.
story of all of our lives ;)
You're not alone. I slay all images i can get and robb things off i can't get elsewhere and then make my own build, just for me and friends.
yeah well most games dont work without modding files so....

This video is basically a BUMP of a 3 year old post where you have to join a retro gatekeeper community who's hosting a jacked copy of Virtualman collection and sapping money from suckers who are standing on the backs of the people who ran VM. Lame.
Too little too late?
Unnecesary lagged games
Nah bro, the who's Pi thing dies long ago. There are more reliable Chinese Kinhank boxes that are fare worth their money than these. My opinion tho
Both are trash, if you know what you are doing you can build a great device for around $250 with 4TB that can run anything.
