I love seeing a fan of MTG appreciating the PTCG. Card games have always been a huge passion of mine; from MTG and PTCG to DragonBall Z and the LotR TCG. Pokemon has always been called a children's card game because of the content, but it is very deep. Thank you for the way you present yourself in comparing the two, it's very respectful to players of both games and TCG lovers as a whole. Like you said, Magic is very "land" dependent, so a large portion of your deck is such. But Pokemon allows you to build in ways that create consistent strategy rather than the "heart of the cards". Not saying it's better, but Pokemon TCG really is worth holding to a mature and competitive level. Can't wait to see more content like this.
Out of everyone, Boogie is my favorite to watch people open packs. He's so relatable, nice and knows what he's talking about.I'd love to see some of your twitch unboxings here Boogie, I can't always catch your streams.
When Kaladesh, the next MTG set, comes out, what used to be called 'Fat Packs' will now be called 'Bundles'. All that's really different is they got rid of the 2 crappy deck boxes that can't even hold a sleeved deck and will include an extra booster pack instead (10 instead of 9)
Cards that are shiny around the picture (On the text) are "Reverses". Cards that are shiny on the picture are "Holos". In the bottom right corner of any current Pokemon card you will see a small symbol on the right of the card number EXAMPLE: 11/151 *. Stars are rare Diamond shapes (Tipped over squares) Are uncommon and Circles are common. I just got into Pokemon cards too... I hope this helps!
Pokemon cubing is actually insanely fun. A couple really well known players from Washington made a couple different cube lists that a lot of people have been working with. Typically Pokemon cubes are built in singleton fashion since there's so many different cards printed of each Pokemon that it makes the evolution lines manageable. My friends and I all play at Gamer's Utopia in Rogers on Wednesdays if you ever want to drop by to learn more about the game.
When you open a new set you can look up the "card trick" for that set, which is pretty much the trick people do to put the rare slot at the end and the uncommons right before that rare or in the front. With older sets most people tend to not do this just to avoid damaging cards.
Boogie, in the bottom right of the card you will see up to 4 things- A Circle = A Common (4-5 Per Pack) A Diamond = An Uncommon (3 Per Pack) A Star = A Rare (Guaranteed 1, might get a couple more if your lucky) A star with words = A Promo I posted this before watching anymore, I hope this explains its.
Everything is a waste of money is all about how much fun you have and not goin too far but i agree, a tcg is expensive if you arent only going to play with theme deck. Ty for answering
Someone's probably pointed this out, but BREAK cards are equivalent to EX cards, Full arts are one step better (trainer Full Arts are typically worth more than EX's) and Secret Rares are the rarest card type! =]
They do set prereleases and the draft format is 8 packs and each deck has 40 cards and you play for 4 prizes. The only deck rules are that you must have 1 basic Pokémon and you can have more than 4 of each card.
when opening a Pokemon TCG pack, if you want to save the rare for last, take cards out of pack and turn them around so the blue back is facing you, and take the first three and put them on the bottom so when you go though them to see what you got, the three you put on bottom will now be facing you.
Boogie!! The order of rarity is: The three cards at the back are uncommon (or common :P), Reverse (2nd last card), normal rare, holo rare, ex, mega ex, full art, secret rare, ( and I think ) the half card! :D
the rare ones have a star at the bottom right next to the count out of the set. The ones that are decent in value are full arts, break cards, ex cards, and so on
This was a joy to watch and I hope you make more videos like this. I think watching people open Pokemon cards is really fascinating for some reason. :-D
Do you collect? I love when I get full arts or even not full arts but when they pop out the capture window they still look so cool. Its definitely different from many of the previous sets. I started collecting back in 1996. I was 7 :) Pokemon is always going to be in my life! Just started getting back into collecting it and I am loving it! So addicting :)
If anyone is looking for more Pokemon tcg opening/reviews and general Pokemon stuff, Unlisted Leaf has a great channel for that. Not sponsored or anything, just a big fan of his channel
the foils before the rares are usually called reverse they are called reverse because the rest of the card is holo and it can be any rarity, and mostly get 1 reverse a pack, Also reverse holos allow you the chance to score an extra rare
I dont know if it changed sinced the first and second set but it used to be a dot for a common, a diamond for an uncommon and a star for a rare. should be in the bottom right corner of the card.
Surprised, I got this box and wanted to see RUclipsrs open this, but this is Francis' of Boogie's first elite trainer box, mine is also my elite trainer box! What a coincidence
Just so you know Boogie! 3 from the back, the "holo" is actually your REVERSE HOLO, and the rare is last, can be an EX. Also, your reverse holo can be a reverse holo rare of any out of the set. :)
3 and 2 for expansion packs. 2 and 2 for generations. Soak up all the Generations packs you can, they'll be worth more since their commemoration packs.
I used to collect these cards years ago so I have a huge binder full of them that I never played with, I just traded them with other kids at school. I'd love a video of you teaching us the rules and how to play the card game.
As fun as it is opening up the trainer boxes/booster packs to see what you get, I gave up on buying them after spending way too much money just to get useless cards. It's not as fun, but it's way cheaper to buy cards individually online.
You should totally check out Legend of the Five Rings. It's a Japanese fantasy themed card game thats almost as old as Magic. It hasn't been doing so hot recently so its getting the same treatment as Netrunner and it's getting turned into a Living Card Game. When a set comes out for an LCG instead of releasing boosters they just release the whole set in a single pack with playsets of every card in the expansion.
I feel like the full holos and reverse holo whatevers really watered down the feeling of getting a cool holographic card. Plus it makes the picture stand out more when the whole entire card isn't holographic imo. Kind of feels cheap now. New packs be like= YOU GET A HOLO, AND YOU GET A HOLO! AND YOUUUU GET A HOLO!
When you still got 3 plasma freeze (B&W) codes to use but you can't access your account. Also, you should open some booster boxes. Around $100 for 36 packs. that's like $2.78 a pack. 360 cards for $100, plus online packs. Not too bad.
Your videos are great. I don't even play Magic or Pokemon TCG, I play others, but I still watch all of these videos because they are really relaxing and genuine.
Boogie, you can find a card's rarity in the lower right of the card. A circle is Common, diamond is Uncommon, and a star is Rare. A foil star is an Ultra Rare. Full Art cards are typically 1/36 packs, while Secret Rares are about 1/72. The rarity of EXs varies from set to set, but they are much easier to pull than Full Arts. The cards you keep calling Holos are actually Reverse Holos and are guaranteed in every pack. Reverse Holos can be Common, Uncommon, or Rare. Actual Holos are much more rare.
There are Reverse Holo's and Holo's when it comes to pokemon cards now including EX cards. The holo's are only on the artwork and the reverse holo's are on the full card. While EX cards have EX next to the pokemons name. I love your pokemon set openings! I am going to buy up the sets when I get more money :D
I'm very glad that you're getting involved in this game! I've been streaming for a tiny bit, but I've played competitively for years... and we just started a League recently at a shop that is HEAVY into MTG... I mean like, they're open 6 days a week and there is a magic event each day. We're trying to build it up, and by you playing, I'm able to share this into the stores community and trying to gather up interest!
you should definetly make a sub channel "boogie opens TCGs" dont get me wrong i love when you open card packs, so to make a channel where you only open cards would be amazing to watch.
PLEASE MORE!!! You got me addicted to this game!!! I've only had one problem, that was with 4 boosters disappearing from my account and Pokemon still hasnt helped me with that....
So one way to tell if it's a common, uncommon or rare card is at the bottom right of the card there is a ?/? number and next to the number is a symbol. Common cards are a circle, uncommons are a diamond and rares are a star. every pack has 1 rare {star}, 3 uncommons {diamond] and then the rest are common cards. but there can also be Holofoil rares and super rares which is a pokemon-ex card. then theres also reverse holo cards which is the same as its normal card but it has a foil effect on its picture.
You're making me want to get into the game - I'm a huge pokemon fan but never got into playing the cards past collecting them. I generally stick to competitive teams for VGC.
When I play Pokemon with my friends we don't like the concept of energy cards so we just do the attacks on the card, well we used to play it, the only card game we play these days is Yu-Gi Oh.
I'd love more pokemon openings. I follow this poketuber, PokeCollection, and aside from him, I don't really like many other pokemon youtubers. This would be kinda cool to watch on this channel

I love these! Check out UnlistedLeaf videos for a better pack opening format to add more suspense when opening and avoid spoilers. That full art Altaria is so gorgeous.
Rarity is the Symbol on the bottom of the card by the set # i believe. the star means it's rare circle is common. forgive me i haven't played in about 2 yrs. :)
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. i like how ur real and admit your new to the game and learning. your opening are easier to watch than most even if u dont get all thae names right. i like your gaming and pokemon pack openings alot
Hey boogie what you do is take the last 3 cards and with the code and you will have your rates at the back and the secret rates will have a good lining around the full art
Hey boogie, just wanted you to know that we usually call the ones that come before the rares reverse holo cards, then you have rares, holo rares or full-art holos. Other than that, loved the video!
I was expecting boogie to go mental when he got a full art Altria ex
And the BREAK zoroark
+GOBELDYGOOK wales?
+GOBELDYGOOK I strongly agree
How much is the card worth?
billy boam just less then £10 for the altaria and the break zoroark £8

Please start opening more of these, I find the incredibly relaxing
Do you have/plan on doing any vids of you playing? A tutorial even?
Been seeing it and wouldn't mind learning myself
Oh yeah I´d love to see something like that!
pokemon tcg online has a very good tutorial if you want to learn
the online game is free and has a tutorial if you want to jump in yourself
yes, very soon!
+boogie2988 awesome

True. All the paid booster box puller on youtube are sooo fake. Boogie does it just like most of us would do it haha
God I love how he's opening Pokemon cards. Such nostalgia. Could watch all day.
"Fat packs" is insensitive. The proper term is "Plus size packs".
"big and tall packs"
Big boned packs
fat pack hate
"Fluffy packs"
+Kane Bowser-Wieser no one wants to
That table flip vid was the greatest throwback MTG table flip sequel vid ever :D
When Kaladesh, the next MTG set, comes out, what used to be called 'Fat Packs' will now be called 'Bundles'. All that's really different is they got rid of the 2 crappy deck boxes that can't even hold a sleeved deck and will include an extra booster pack instead (10 instead of 9)
its pronounced Lu Gee Ah.
Oh he had quite a few mess ups lol. When he called arcanine, arcanite, that made me giggle a little
haha
Lu Gee bad

mad respect you actually play the cards not just collect, makes it more enjoyable to watch someone who understands the system behind the image

your going to get me back into Pokémon cards
why not ?

same here, I always wonder what they are going to get :)
Full art holos look so damn good.

Lugia is a legendary dude!
It seemed like had no idea who Lugia was when you saw the card
Zapdos too lmao just casual as ever
he also got two dragonairs in a single packet... Boogie is a lucky dude !!!
+Gunnar Kinney Dragonairs aren't rare in TCG lol xD
oh.. i don't play it so i wouldn't know
the foils before the rares are usually called reverse they are called reverse because the rest of the card is holo and it can be any rarity, and mostly get 1 reverse a pack, Also reverse holos allow you the chance to score an extra rare

I've been playing this game for more than 7 years and I've enjoyed every moment! So glad to see you interested in PTCG and putting up videos of it!!!
Hoarding:Buried Alive- featuring Boogie2988
Those foils that are guaranteed in the pack are called "reverse holos" they can range from a common all the way to a rare card
Boogie I feel ya. Never touched the things until Pokemon go came around and peaked my interest in it again.
For the rare to be at the back you need to flip the deck over (face side down) then take the first three at the back and put them in the front
When he said Lugia 😂😂
The cards with the black outline are Full Arts
Surprised, I got this box and wanted to see RUclipsrs open this, but this is Francis' of Boogie's first elite trainer box, mine is also my elite trainer box! What a coincidence
Just so you know Boogie! 3 from the back, the "holo" is actually your REVERSE HOLO, and the rare is last, can be an EX. Also, your reverse holo can be a reverse holo rare of any out of the set. :)

I'm pretty sure their value will decrease with all of the mythical boxes and stuff coming out.
I used to collect these cards years ago so I have a huge binder full of them that I never played with, I just traded them with other kids at school.
I'd love a video of you teaching us the rules and how to play the card game.

I don't play pokemon nor know anything about it, I just love watching boogie unbox it and his excitement for it, same his magic vides.
The EX luck with him reminds me of my luck trying to find Grade 4s in the booster packs for Cardfight Vanguard XD
You should totally check out Legend of the Five Rings. It's a Japanese fantasy themed card game thats almost as old as Magic. It hasn't been doing so hot recently so its getting the same treatment as Netrunner and it's getting turned into a Living Card Game. zoroak break is SO RARE. I would have been crying.
When you still got 3 plasma freeze (B&W) codes to use but you can't access your account. Also, you should open some booster boxes. Around $100 for 36 packs. that's like $2.78 a pack. 360 cards for $100, plus online packs. Not too bad.
Boogie!!! That kangaskan at about 7:20 is dope lol
The second to last card is the reverse holo which can have any rarity or be an ultra rare break card. The final card is the actual rare/holo/EX.
Your videos are great. I don't even play Magic or Pokemon TCG, I play others, but I still watch all of these videos because they are really relaxing and genuine.

that statistic on full arts is bullshit you get on average 2-3 per box
It depends on the set, tbh. But on average through every set that's included them , one (or two, if you're lucky) per booster box is about right.
Love watching openings brings me back to being a kid ripping open packs of the OG 150 so good
Boogie to determine rareness on a card in the very bottom right hand corner is a shape it goes circle-diamond-star representing common-uncommon-rare
I found my old duelmaster cards. :3 I played a lot of those cards to ruin. No protection on them so they took the full force of the shuffling. XD
you should definetly make a sub channel "boogie opens TCGs" dont get me wrong i love when you open card packs, so to make a channel where you only open cards would be amazing to watch.
PLEASE MORE!!! You got me addicted to this game!!! I've only had one problem, that was with 4 boosters disappearing from my account and Pokemon still hasnt helped me with that....
I can just put in my headphones and listen to Boogie all day long
Pro tip, an easy way to tell the secret rares is their golden boarder!
Damn deoxys holo right after that chandalure holo, don't mistake those for the reverse holo you get guaranteed in your pack.
I would love to see more pokemon unboxing here. it'd save me the trouble of going through vods
I'd like to watch your openings boogie. as I'm from the UK, I can't attend for live streams :(
There is always the past broadcast option on twitch.
The VoDs are still up on his channel, I just watched him open the packs he was talking about in this video where he had insane luck.
Same ;)
So one way to tell if it's a common, uncommon or rare card is at the bottom right of the card there is a ?/? number and next to the number is a symbol.
Old fat packs are the best because you still got the first book with them
I would love to see more unboxing of Pokemon cards
Regirock EX is one of my favorites, and is a mainstay in my Garchomp deck.
You're making me want to get into the game - I'm a huge pokemon fan but never got into playing the cards past collecting them. I generally stick to competitive teams for VGC.
maxie's hidden ball trick full art is an ultra rare, if you did not know previously.
boogie if i remember right there should be a symbol in a corner and that's what shows rarity.
When I play Pokemon with my friends we don't like the concept of energy cards so we just do the attacks on the card, well we used to play it, the only card game we play these days is Yu-Gi Oh.
Watching someone opening pokemon cards, what is life anymore
Remember when he used to claim that he's super frugal and saves almost everything?
I'd love more pokemon openings. I follow this poketuber, PokeCollection, and aside from him, I don't really like many other pokemon youtubers. This would be kinda cool to watch on this channel
please upload more of this. I absolutely love pack openings
hey boogie, the rare card is symbolized by a star in the bottom right corner. diamond shape is uncommon and a circle is common.
you ought to do a Francis Rage video about your bad luck when getting cards
I like how he's not trying to act like some super pro or anything. It's very chill and relaxed. Also funny! Keep up the good work.
Would love to see you open the Generations Elite Trainer Box. Some really good art in that set.
The EX cards really are gorgeous
My Pokemon deck list to help you out.. I've won a fair few tournaments with this deck.

Don't know if people told you but the foil card before the rare is a reverse foil card.
I found that box but it was behind booster boxes kids put toys behind so nobody can get them
Gardivoir!!! I got the terrible pull luck as well. Good to see I'm not the only one.
I'm so jealous of your Regirock EX pull. Zygarde/Regirock is one of my favorite decks since FC
I think why Mythic rares arent as cool to open is that they dont have especially unique art and they arent a character unless they are a planeswalker
I love these! Check out UnlistedLeaf videos for a better pack opening format to add more suspense when opening and avoid spoilers. That full art Altaria is so gorgeous.
i just played pokemon without energy cards just pick 5 cards from ur deck like yugiho and just pick an attack its fun if u have alot of cards
Aerodactyl is actually an o.p card to use ... Any 2 energy cards = repeated 120 damage with no downside ... Nice!
Hey boogie what you do is take the last 3 cards and with the code and you will have your rates at the back and the secret rates will have a good lining around the full art
When you get a secret rare of the set and your reaction is cool
Just so you know the card before the rare is called the reverse, and yes upload Pokemon card unboxings to your channel!!!
Hey boogie, just wanted you to know that we usually call the ones that come before the rares reverse holo cards, then you have rares, holo rares or full-art holos. Other than that, loved the video!
You should just buy booster boxes for pokemon cards, the packs come out be around 2.60 dollars per pack with those boxes.
Dude Pokemon Go got me back into the TCG and I have no regrets
Ironically, I feel like I'm going down the same path. Kinda wanna get back into this....... Ik what I'm doing this weekend....
please start doing more unboxings boogie
I open Pokemon cards daily so yes bring on more openings!
I agree with boogie that magic isn't as excited when opening an amazing pack
