    Lots of information on the vintage Vespas. I don't often see these vintage models on the road but they have an interesting history.

    I remember that I was browsing my dad's Sear Roebuck mail-order catalog 62 years ago for toys and saw the "naked" T-bar handle Vespa 125(?) available for US$499 which was the same one in the movie "Roman Holiday"(1953). Later in early 1970 I was bewitched by Vespa when in senior high school with my Dad's disapproval for racing danger as well as my financial weakness, but I was able to lay my hands on a Vespa 90 borrowed from senior folks after entering college away from home. The bulb of headlight was so easy to burn out due to high rpm resulting from failing to upshift gears. Many times I have to ride blindly with busted bulbs on country road of rural area in pitch darkness back to college dorm after spending the evening in downtown on weekend even if I brought spare bulb along.

    Over here we have
    Primmy 90 with parmakit 135,
    SS90 (replica) Malossi 135,
    Lambretta SX225
    And GTS 300 for daily driver
    Riding the Smallframes makes you grin from ear to ear.
    Keep up the good work.

    The 11 mm part of the socket was mainly for the transmission oil plugs.

      but that begs the question, it's on the long end of the handle, how to you get it under the drain bolt without someone leaning the scoot way over.

    • @MrHugemoth
      @MrHugemoth Год назад

      @@rat-vespa Correct, lean the scooter over to the right side to break it free then back on the stand to drain.

    I had a ‘78 125 Primavera in high school. Today, here in Italy, you can buy one to restore for about 200-500€ because almost every family has a Vespa in the basement. If you want one already restored you may spend from 2000 to 25000 depending on year and model. Basically a 50cc special from the ‘80s would be cheaper up to a 1948 first series one. Those are super rare even here!

    Hey Robot, will you guys record and post videos on the full restoration? I bet the inside of that engine is gross, just like the '69 150 sprint that I'm restoring. I'd benefit from a video series.

    I had a 100cc small frame, 3 gears. 1978 plate. I bought it when I was 15. I owned that scooter for over 30 years and sold it for £250. Oh well

    You mention the side stand on the et3 being attached to the swingarm on the primavera and you hadn't seen that before. Some uselss info........The Vespa Cosa was the same due to the plastic underbelly. Hopefully,, one day, you'll have one of those to resurrect.

      10" wheels - the smallframes are the lowest of the vespas.... but 5ft tall may be a little too short for it.
